I love being a member of the national trust and have been a member for nearly 30 years. I wish I had of become a lifetime member as it would have been cheaper. Not worth it now though. I think they do some great work but the prices of everything are just getting ridiculous. Especially in the tea rooms where you are expected to pay £3.50 for a small bit of cake. Sorry national trust but that is just pure greed.

TrustpilotStaff with attitude at burling gap seaford
I took a group to burling gap on the 21-8-2019 and I was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism from the car park attendant who to be quite honest was out of order. He didn't even give my group chance to sort themselves out before demanding I either give him money for a ticket or go to the shop and get one and proceeded to wait for me to do so.You may wish to train your staff a little better before you lose all of your visitors.

TrustpilotAbysmal customer service
Abysmal customer service. In attempting to buy life membership for my grandson on line, a query arose so I phoned Customer Services and was on hold for 61 minutes! In the meantime, having read some of the other reviews below I was alerted to the fact that life membership no longer includes a guest. Therefore now considering English Heritage membership instead.

Hi LisaThanks for taking the time to leave your review. I’m sorry you’re disappointed. However, we’ve never allowed members to bring a guest for free on any of our joint memberships. The ability to bring a guest for free used to be part of our individual life memberships but that ended for new memberships around this time last year. The ability to bring a guest for free remains in place for individual life memberships bought before then. I hope this clears things up and thanks for your support. National Trust

Fantastic customer service when we visited Carick-a-rede rope bridge. The team on site could not have been more helpful with an aging mother and a 6 year old with me. They went above and beyond to support my mother as she was unable to cross the bridge, and were super friendly with my daughter even printing her a certificate! Thank you

GoogleI have always loved eating at National Trust properties when visiting, but what I saw at Heelis yesterday was disgraceful. At the table next to ours a family were celebrating the ladies birthday with afternoon tea, across from us was another couple having afternoon tea. The disparity between what each was served was enormous. Its possible the birthday lady was an employee ( obviously don't know for sure) but very friendless indeed with the server, who as we left was sitting at the table with them!! They had a 3 tier cake stand absolutely full of cakes, scones etc, a large plate of sandwiches plus a separate plate of savory foods, then another plate of sandwiches was bought to them. In stark contrast the other peoples afternoon tea comprised of one 3 tier cake stand with cakes, scones & sandwiches on it!!! So, my grandson & I both felt this form of favoritism was unfair and unpleasant to see.

TrustpilotPay for 12 months and only get 11
Thought I would treat some family members to a gift subscription. Pay for a year and membership card comes with only like 11 months use on!Try to phone and they no longer using the phones as they are working from home.Send an email and it could take up to 2 weeks for a response. This issue will never get solved!

TrustpilotNT Wokeness Tolerated No More. We've Cancelled our Family Membership.
So sad to see the officials from the Chairman down are running the organisation simply to benefit their own left-wing ideological political beliefs and Wokeness rather than looking after country houses and estates that we the public and members (former members before we cancelled our membership in our case) believed they were there to do.Absolutely disgusted and horrified.Sack the management team and remove the left wing politics and we might return.Thank you NOT you Morons.

TrustpilotBeware when gifting a membership
Beware when gifting a membership. When renewal comes up no opt out on website just a letter telling you they will take a further annual payment from your account! You then have to ring and jump through hoops to get it cancelled down. There should be an opt out option not just them telling you they will renew the gift without your permission first!! I know of no other organisation who does this....not ok. National Trust look at your tactics please....not ethical. We choose to gift a years membership and you need to check out first and offer an online option to not buy the gift for another year unless you ask for this. Not transparent approach.

I have been member for 2 years and visiting places for several years. 2 weeks ago visited Dyrham park. Yes my fault I didnt have my membership card with me. I paid for entry and parking 17.50 all together. I was promised I will get a refund as their computer was not working. So requested my refund, well I can have a gift card but they wont pay my money back. Maybe staff should be trained what to say to customers. I wanted my money back not a giftcard as I was promised. Thank you National Trust will not recommend you to anyone in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Timea

TrustpilotBadly let down
We have been keen and supportive National Trust members for over 40 years, visiting dozens of properties each year and invariably supporting the work by using shops and cafes.Decided to gift life memberships to several family members. What a nightmare of a process. Nowhere do they provide any option to send a personal message. When I enquired about this, their response couldn't have been more offhand. Absolutely no desire to help. Another issue arose - again handled with zero compassion or interest. A totally disappointing and frustrating experience which has destroyed my previously held positivity for the NT. You seriously need to address and improve your customer relations before this lack of care seems down to the currently excellent site staff and volunteers.

TrustpilotAppalling customer service
Appalling customer service. Been trying to contact by phone for over a week without success. Recorded message stating high call volumes!! Tried emailing, again no reply. Need to query and possibly change my membership renewal. Have resorted to writing a letter of complaint to Supporter Services this evening but not holding out much hope anyone will bother to reply sadly.

I got a National trust membership for Christmas, great. Due to Covid my enjoyment of it has been non-existant. I booked Farne, couldn't go, I live near Brownsea and visit often but have only been able to do it once before lockdown. Now I can only stay for a few hours and I have to pay £12-50 from Poole for it. Ridiculous. I want half price membership next year at least or you will get nothing.

TrustpilotNT hunting on your lands by licence you issue..
Hello.I have heard that the NT support hunting on their lands. It seems that you sell licences to trail to hunts so they take hounds horses and silly people onto your lands to trail..I have heard that these trails are often the instigation of irresponsible hunts killing wildlife and even pets in or on your land or near by.I have seen evidence of this with photos, police reports, and fb updates. Why do you support these barbaric hunts?Do you monitor theses hunts? If they kill, which is illegal ....do you take their licence away?Do you provide support to the people on your lands and those who live nearby? Please stop this I don’t pay a membership fee to you so you can support this outdated barbaric hunting. Be it trail or illegal hunting. This a message I sent to the NT. I got no replyThey are supporting and aiding illegal hunting on my opinion. I would like some answers,Please answer my questions.... they are directed at the NT as a whole but you unfortunately are part of that organisation...

TrustpilotThe National Trust condones fox hunting
Don’t trust the National Trust as they allow fox hunting which they call trail hunting. It’s a complete smoke screen which allows the upper crust with the aid of terrior men to savagely kill foxes. If the foxes go to ground in a badger sett( which by the way is illegal to interfere with) terrior men will dig the fox out and throw it to the hounds. National Trust you are hypocrites and a disgrace to wildlife. A charity that should have a clean legal reputation however completely ignores the fate of foxes that live on the land and other wildlife for that matter. Ie grouse, hares, badgers and deer. 😡

TrustpilotOut of touch with 80% of nation
Out of touch with 80% of nation who do not want hunting, trail or otherwise, on the land bequeathed to the nation. Impossible to engage with as just trot out same lame response and then block you. Trail hunting is a myth, hounds are trained on live fox cubs (see South Herefordshire Hunt prosecution) Hounds are regularly out of control, trespassing, killing foxes. As tge NT blankly refuses to listen I would be very wary of supporting this conglomerate in any way.

TrustpilotOld fashioned and out of time
Old fashioned and out of time. Make up your mind, either make car parks all bookable or not.Visited Sheringham park and did not book, so were sent away again. (Not a very pleasant person on gate) So went in the "back door" and didn't encounter more than 20 people on a 3 hour walk to station and back. Way out of time as apposed to all other areas of unlocking.Membership wasted this year

Visited Dunham Massey Park today and really enjoyed the gardens and the park. Covid regulations in place but not too restrictive. The woodland gardens are very pretty. Just an observation but some boards teaching children not to chase the deer whilst trying to get close to them would be good. Whilst equality for all would be wonderful you cannot change history by removing a statue! We would come again if on this area.

Our cottage in Snowshill had a wasp problem,They were crawling along the floor of the bedroom and landing.Called Help line, told we were on a red alert.Nothing! Daughter in Edinburgh rang the call center but the area manager refused to speak. Result told It was not deemed urgent. Further pressure resulted in a visit by a lady with an attitude problem. We had long left the cottage packed our bags and were sitting in the car park in Broadway, and had just returned. It was so bad I opened the front door and asked her to leave. She spoke with the area manager, no other property to stay in. At 72 & 73 we had to sleep on chairs! It got worse!!

I can understand free parking if your a member (only at some places mind) but otherwise it's a rip off if your not. No wonder people get angry at the pay and display booths. At Llanbedrog and Nefyn I witnessed people getting out their cars, taking one look at prices and getting back in the car and driving off. One person said he won't visit again.

TrustpilotPATHETIC
There should be an alternative ZERO star box for PATHETIC so people like me can register our displeasure with NT. The ONE star minimum grossly overestimates the public feeling, Ms McGrady and Ms Fowler are just losing the plot and promoting their own standpoints - they should be neutral. How has this great institution fallen to Wokeness? I am out and will not be back until common sense prevails. Any hope for the AGM?
