Absolute disgrace

If I could give no stars I would . Have just been made aware of the new charging policy at Dunham Massey and Lyme Park As a result we will not be renewing our membership. The impact of this change means that when we take out two grandchildren fir a much needed run about in the we open air that this will now cost us £4 per child. Absolute disgrace . I’m so sick of organisations using the pandemic to line their own pockets

National trust cancelled membership when I complained

My wife and I have been members of the National trust for many years. In May I was asked to comment on their performance and because of its change to a woke stance I stated that we would not renew our membership at the end of September 2021 - Now I find that instead of cancelling automatic renewal as advised they actually canceled our membership in May - Was this spite because we respect our National hero figures like Churchill

Dont Touch

I too would give a zero rating if I could. Its a shambles. My son paid for a joint membership for my husbands 70th Birthday way back at the beginning of February. Still haven't received even the temporary tickets. Nor have we had any response to numerous emails. They take your money quick enough but then ignore you. Don't touch with a "Barge Pole". You have been warned.

Very Poor Customer service

I joined the NT on 4th August and as yet have not received anything inspite of being charged for thre months membership.I contacted them twice w by email and received no reply. I have phoned twice, each time being emailed a temporary membership which lasts for three weeks.I am therefore phoning them every three weeks which is not only inconvenient but they charge for the calls and keep me on hold for ages.I will be ringing again next week for the third and last time as if I do not receive my membership package I will be cancelling my standing order.Disgusting customer service and I see from previous reviews i am not alone!

Nostell priory. Not impressed.

I recently visited Nostell priory with a friend, I am a member but seriously thinking about cancelling my membership. We toured the gardens and lake at an extortionate cost of over £12. Which includes the enormous house, and in my opinion over £12 is a total rip off.The house which is quite impressive from the outside but a massive disappointment inside. Most of the rooms are bare of any period furniture. So it's doesn't give a reflection of the living standard of the period. One particular bedroom with just a 4 poster bed and an elderly lady volunteer was giving Information, we happened to step a little further into the area and were greeted by what I call rude abusive behavour....( Get back over there now) in an aggressive manner. We had accidentally stepped over the white plinths on the floor, no signs saying please keep this side, not plainly obvious. If the N.T. management prefer to employ volunteers of that low standard you can expect to.lose membership & as a charity you need to up your game.I mentioned thie situation the the girl where you pay outside, she said would I like to speak to a manager but declines as I would write an online review. The rest of the house staff were very helpful I may add. Also I waited over 4 months to receive my membership card, and only by threatening to cancel my membership.Which arrived very prompt. As a .ember I'm not impressed at all with the N.T.

I am giving a 1 star review because of…poor customer service

I am giving a 1 star review because of the non existent customer service I have been receiving .I have been a member for many years as has my wife and we have enjoyed visiting many lovely places . I hate poor customer service , I bought a gift membership for my sister's birthday and was informed 21 days before she received her lack in the meantime I would receive temporary card so she could get started . I have not received a card and have emailed twice with no response . This is not acceptable my sister will have lost nearly a month of her years member ship by the time she received her pack what are you doing hand writing the thing . They say in their online help section they will get back hopefully within 10days ! Unacceptable ! Send a pigeon it will be quicker ! I honestly love being a member of the trust but I hate poor customer care to the hierarchy get off your backsides and sort this out ! to the great staff we meet thank you for making our visits great will be phoning tomorrow pass me on to some in authority at the very top I need to have a chat 😡😡.addition since this post I have made phone contact and been told they couldn’t extend the gift membership by a month so I cancelled and was told that was fine I would get a refund (rec’d) .so in short I had to cancel and re apply to save the month they couldn’t ,wouldn’t extend RUBBISH SERVICE !!!!!

National Trust are terrible

National Trust are terrible, for a start they over charge for everything!! I understand they want to raise money for upkeep on historical and beautiful landscapes, but if you charged reasonable prices more people would come.We visited the four waterfalls trail, and the member of staff they had working there on the day we visited was so rude. We parked up, and while I had a quick drink before getting out of the car he was staring over at my car until I got out. One lady was leaving, and offered her parking ticket to someone else, the member of staff there was practically screaming at her, there is no need for that behavior from your staff.I will be avoiding all National Trust places after so many bad experiences.

Fantastic!

I am a National Trust member for a third year and consider it an honour to support with my humble fee the tremendous work and noble mission to save Britain's natural and historic heritage. I simply cannot imagine this country without this iconic organisation! I loved every single place of theirs that I have visited! They are a haven of peace, culture, serenity, cleanliness and beauty! The staff are polite, friendly and knowledgeable! My last visit was to Hill Top, the home of Beatrix Potter in the Lake District. My conversation with the curators was a pleasure and left me much enriched!

Sloppy Admin

We have been members for many many years, paying by direct debit with automatic renewal. This year without any communication from NT our membership was cancelled !. Customer service did not seem at all bothered when I called. Also it is so frustrating when waiting on phone for an hour to keep hearing how many questions can be answered by going to website. Pretty obvious they can't!!!

Baddesley…

I have recently visited Baddesley Clinton in Warwickshire which was lovely. However, I was most concerned and dismayed to read a notice stating that new unisex toilets are to be installed. As a teacher, safeguarding is of the utmost importance, particularly regarding toilets and would not be keen to have my family in a toilet block where members of both sexes can utilise the facilities. What a sad (and bad) decision by this organisation.

£1.65 for a bottle of water!! £5.50 for Jam!!

Visited Chartwell yesterday. Did not realise how warm it was so only took one bottle of water which we drunk half on the journey there. When we arrived decided to purchase two small bottles of water. £3.30 for two bottles of water. I cannot believe that the National Trust can charge its members & guest this amount of money for water. Yes I expect to pay around £1 when out & about however did not think the National Trust would be so greedy. I was initially annoyed & then upset. Then after our very enjoyable walk we visited the shop. Purchased a jar of Jam - £5.50. Again disappointed. Yes I totally understand that the N T has lost money due to closures etc but please revisit you pricing policies.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to…

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to canons Ashby Northamptonshire yesterday visiting the gardens and cafe with our dog . Normally we visit Stowe as we can take our puppy with us ,but this summer Canons Ashby are allowing dogs in the garden ,such a good idea asa well behaved dog on a short lead causes no trouble . We saw 4 other families with their pooches whilst there . All dogs sat quietly under the tables in the outside cafe area ,the only noise came from a child having a tantrum . We have at times felt excluded from so many trust gardens for having our dog with us although we pay the same membership

Absolutely Fantastic

Having seen some negative views on Trustpilot, spurred me on a little to add my own voice.I'm a recent new member to the National Trust having received a Gift Membership.I've already been to some fantastic properties, with stunning gardens.I'm not interested in the politics side of other peoples reviews, as we all have a view and you cant please everyone or change world history. But thinking that a family membership with 2 adults is £126 per year, I think this represents fantastic value for money. Less money than a large branded Latte per week.

DOGS ON BEACHES!

Just back from Cornwall where I visited a lovely beach, what really spoiled it for me was the selfish minority of dog owners whom took their dogs onto the beach, despite clear warnings on the website and signage that dogs were banned!. I understand the while covid nonsense does not help, but please can they warden control this, we pay enough for the season tickets. So the couple in the grey BMW and their dog called Pete can sod off accordingly!...

Visiting Mottisfont on 23/07/21

Visiting Mottisfont on 23/07/21, a hot day, we took the paths through the wild meadows. The banks of sound from the insects was phenomenal. The butterflies danced to the insect orchestra either singularly or romantically in couples.I was transported back to my childhood and walks with my mother as I swished my hands through the long grasses. It was a wonderful sensory overload. On this occasion I loved the National Trust even more. National Trust, I say National Treasure. Thank You.

Rubbish level of service, no one takes it seriously…

Bought a Family membership for my son in December 2022 and still no cards. Made several telephone calls recorded two Customer complaints still not resolved. No one takes ownership of issues. Takes over half an hour to get through on telephone, and then you are told it will take up to ten days for a reply! A commercial would be out of business with this level of service,

As a member of the NT

As a member of the NT, I just came here to counterbalance the negative reviews from irrelevant, history-denying crybabies who refuse to believe that LGBTQ+ people exist and have contributed to our history, as well as that slavery did occur and Britain had a part in it. I’m here to say that I am very happy with my membership, which has encouraged me to explore England and beyond and has taught me so much about this country. Their work of preserving and transferring knowledge is essential.

Disappointed

Visited Montacute house today for a walk & to visit cafe. Can’t understand why cafe is using cardboard cups - tea tastes lousy from them & they are not environmentally friendly compared to real mugs. Should be using real mugs & putting them in a dishwasher - no covid hazard there. Also tray baked cakes cut into very small pieces- not good value for the price they charge. Disappointed with you National Trust (& I am a member).

Sheringham Park

Sheringham Park Tried to hire a mobility scooter at 2.30pm at the weekend and was flatly refused even though I could easily have returned it well before closing time at 4pm. Staff very unhelpful. We used our own wheelchair and had a lovely time but it is steep in places so wouldn’t work for everyone. Unable to book in advance so very difficult for people with mobility issues.

I am so grateful for the national trust…

I am so grateful for the national trust in this country preserving our heritage. Always a brilliant day out, love the shops and cafe areas, kind staff and overall great service. I bought a picnic blanket from the online shop today and on delivery I realised I had ordered the wrong size. Called up to request a return and they very kindly exchanged for the more expensive larger size and waived the difference and also said I could keep the incorrect item! So kind. I always make sure to buy from the shops whenever I go as the money goes to an important cause. I am not a member yet, but look forward to becoming one as soon as I am able to. Thank you NT!
