GoogleMy experience with Mirador Property Letting was initially quite positive, as I had been a tenant in one of their flats for several years while studying at university. However, my perception of them took a significant downturn upon moving out, and I must express my disappointment with the way they handled the situation.
First and foremost, I had to endure months of radio silence regarding the return of my deposit. It was a disheartening and frustrating experience to have to chase them up repeatedly just to get some clarity on the matter. To make matters worse, I discovered that the landlord was attempting to deduct money from my deposit for cleaning, which felt unjustified given the flat's condition.
When I initially moved into the flat, I noticed that it was far from being in a pristine state. There were cleanliness issues, and even a broken hob, but I chose not to make a fuss about it, mainly because the estate agents seemed very friendly and accommodating. In fact, I had recommended Mirador Property Letting to several of my friends who subsequently faced the same deduction from their deposits, which raised suspicions about the fairness of their practices.
What deeply disappointed me was the abrupt shift in the estate agent's attitude towards me. After years of what I thought was positive communication, they became remarkably unresponsive and cold. Even the Deposit Protection Service (DPS) suggested trying to have a conversation with them to resolve the matter, but they remained unwilling to engage in any discussion.
To further exacerbate my concerns, I left the flat in a better condition than when I initially moved in, yet the estate agents and the landlord never provided any receipts or documentation for the alleged work that justified deductions from my deposit. This lack of transparency in the process only added to my frustration and disappointment.
In conclusion, my experience with Mirador Property Letting went from being highly positive to deeply disheartening. The issues surrounding communication, deductions, and transparency in their practices have left me with a heavy heart. I hope that they take these concerns seriously and work towards improving their tenant relations and overall service quality in the future.

Hi Florence, thank you for sharing your experience with us.
We appreciate the three years you spent as our tenant during university, and we understand the stress associated with moving out and deposit returns. We also understand that the waiting time for a response review from the Deposit Protection Service (DPS) has caused you upset, but please understand that neither the landlord nor agents have any more information once the deposit has been put in for adjudication. We acknowledge your words regarding improving communication during deposit returns and will implement regular updates, even when the status remains unchanged.
Negotiating on behalf of numerous tenants with landlords and DPS is part of our process, and we want to clarify that deposit reductions are not the agentβs decision - it is the homeowners. At which we must follows our policy of submitting evidence to show why the deductions are being made. Allowing the independent adjudicator to come to their own conclusion.
You mentioned that when you initially moved into the property you found some cleanliness issues and a broken hob but decided not to make a fuss because you found Mirador Property to be friendly and accommodating. We value your decision not to complain about initial issues however, we would have resolved them immediately if we had known about them, as we have with any other concerns. Please know that we've consistently backed you as our tenant and have happily fixed all issues our tenants raise. Like any of our rental tenants you had the opportunity to make amendments to your initial property inventory which then would have been taken into consideration at the end of your tenancy.
The landlord's priority is maintaining the property to the best standard once a checkout has been completed. This allows the landlord to assess if it is necessary to undertake deep cleaning of ovens, hobs, white goods, showers at the end of a tenancy, and on this occasion the independent adjudicator agreed with the landlord. As you are aware all the documents that were required for the independent review were uploaded to the DPS which you had full access, allowing you to see any invoices, inventory, checkout, and the contract etc.
Weβd like to emphasise that deducting from deposits sometimes happens in the rental process and is not exclusive or unique to our practices.
Your three years with us are appreciated, and we want to assure you that we are working to enhance our communication processes for the benefit of all our tenants. Your feedback is crucial, and we hope you recognise the efforts we've made to ensure your student experience was positive.
Thank you for your understanding.

GoogleI was a tenant with Mirador for a year, and had a positive experience. Several minor concerns with our (shared student) house were resolved relatively quickly, and with a friendly, understanding attitude. Replies to our queries were fast & informative. We received our deposits within 3 weeks of the tenancy ending. I would recommend Mirador and/or rent from them again.
