Our experience with this estate agent, and in particular with Joanne, was extremely disappointing from start to finish. As buyers, we were made to feel like we weren't a priority, when it was clearly implied that her main responsibility was to the seller rather than providing a fair and professional service to both parties. We did everything requested of us promptly and with patience, but even basic communication was difficult, because her tone was often passive-aggressive and condescending, which made the process unnecessarily stressful, and actually really upset me a lot at times! On multiple occasions, we were pressured to complete tasks urgently, even when we were already working as quickly as possible. The final stages of completion were particularly frustrating, as Joanne was completely unreachable on the day - a moment that should have been exciting for us as first-time buyers. Thankfully, our solicitors stepped in to resolve the issue. However, the final straw was Joanne’s audacity in accusing me of being a liar and making inappropriate comments about others in the process. Her complete lack of respect and accountability is concerning and incredibly frustrating! I advise others to be cautious before dealing with this agency.

I feel it is important to share my experience to make others aware of the unacceptable conditions we faced while renting through TIERNEY PROPERTYS and landlord MARK BIBBY From the outset, the property was misrepresented. Issues were concealed prior to moving in, and very shortly after, serious problems began to emerge. Within weeks, we experienced significant mould, which I immediately reported to the estate agent. Rather than addressing the problem, I was told we could leave if we wished .. despite being bound by a tenancy agreement and having no alternative accommodation. The mould issue was left unresolved, forcing us to deal with it ourselves. Not long after, a major leak developed. Repeated attempts to contact the landlord and agent were ignored until the flooring had become so damaged it needed replacing. When contractors eventually lifted the flooring, the condition underneath was extremely unsafe and unhygienic, particularly concerning as we have a one year old child. We were left living with exposed, mouldy dirty flooring for a month before replacement flooring was installed. The work carried out was of very poor quality, and when it was damaged almost immediately, it became clear the materials chosen by the landlord were inadequate. To make matters worse, the ripped up old flooring was simply dumped in our back garden and left there for the remainder of our tenancy. Additionally, a large hole was left in the wall for months following attempts to address the leak, again creating serious safety concerns. Even more shockingly, there was also a great big hole in the kitchen wall that had been deliberately concealed by pushing the cooker in front of it. This was not only dishonest but incredibly unsafe. The damp and leaks continued, rotting the floorboards and walls to the point that wood chippings littered the floor. The most dangerous part was when water actually began dripping through a light bulb. This is an extreme electrical hazard. The fact that we were expected to live in such conditions, with a baby in the home, is beyond unacceptable. A plumber later discovered a jug wedged behind the sink, suggesting a pre-existing problem that had been deliberately hidden before our tenancy began. I have video evidence of this. When I repeatedly raised these issues with the agent, Mike admitted he had “no faith in the landlord” and advised me to look elsewhere, while also making dismissive and inappropriate remarks including attributing the mould to us “having too much stuff.” At one point, I was informed that when repairs were requested, the landlord’s response to the estate agent mike tierney was simply “hand them their notice.” Communication overall was extremely poor, with responses only forthcoming when rent payments were mentioned. Despite providing an email containing detailed evidence of the disrepair, the agent joanne stated: “Thank you for your email, this has been sent over to the landlord. As you are aware he does insist on using his own tradesmen so we are unable to assist with these repairs and problems.” We have now thankfully moved to a new home. However, despite the conditions we endured, the estate agent has requested retention of our full deposit through the deposit protection scheme, before an inspection has even taken place. In summary, our experience has been one of neglect, concealment of defects, and complete disregard for tenant welfare. My greatest concern throughout was always my baby boy and I will not, under any circumstances, have my son exposed to such unsafe, unhealthy, and dangerous conditions. It is deeply troubling that landlords and agents who behave in this way are still permitted to rent out properties, knowing the risks to families with young children. Based on my experience, I strongly advise others to AVOID renting through Tierney properties and this landlord. (Mark bibby) The reviews on their Google page speak for themselves and it is clear we are not the only tenants to have experienced these issues.

Absolutely appalled by this agency. Had a lovely viewing of a property with Mike. Then every single interaction afterwards was done via Joanna. Every single phone call was very rude and abrupt. She called my partners application “diabolical”. Called off 3 different numbers and intentionally left no paper trace of any rudeness. Even voicemails were an immediate change of tone. We went ahead anyway and was at the stage of putting a holding deposit down, in which we were asked to pay £1050. I called back politely to ask why the security deposit was required and I was told bluntly it’s to take the property off of Rightmove. I said “isn’t that what the holding deposit is for”. The immediate response was accusing me of questioning their process and I simply stated I need to speak to my partner. Within 30 minutes of this I had recieved the email attached in the photo by which I am appalled! First of all no “comments” were made to relay onto a landlord, secondly I asked a simple question about a deposit which I can rightfully ask and deserve a lot more information about, and this was immediately met with appalling attitude and cancelled the whole process! 1 question!

We used Tierney Property Management recently to sell our property in Stalybridge. Right from the start Mike and Alex were very professional and courteous in their approach. They explained the process thoroughly and managed our expectations from the get go. Produced an excellent marketing strategy that was well executed and meant that the property was sold within 8 weeks! They were available at all times of the day to take a call and managed all viewings superbly. Resulting in a smooth sale and completion of the property. I have no hesitation in recommending their services and will use again in the future.

I haven’t been renting from them very long (Will update if opinion changes) but up to now. I can’t fault them. I’ve had no issues renting my first place with Tierney’s. Mike, Alex and Jo where all extremely helpful and very responsive. They worked closely with me and the landlord to ensure we both got what we where looking for and we’re satisfied. Everything was made clear and I wouldn’t hesitate to contact regarding any future problems. They are a pleasure to rent from.

Tried to simply arrange a booking, Joanne is possibly the rudest most aggressive agent I have ever dealt with in 30 years. Never use these people. Expect them to call you back and harass you.

The most unprofessional estate agent I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to. Mike Tierney is arrogant and rude, offering little value to potential vendors or purchasers, other than an egocentric attitude. He actually puts the phone down on people mid conversation, as soon as he loses interest in the call - appalling.

This was my first time buying a house so not entirely sure what to expect from an estate agents. I was able to view the property the same day as them contacting me to arrange the viewing. Would have liked a little longer to view it but was happy with what I saw. I did struggle to get a second viewing as to how busy it was and they did say after the second viewing there wouldn't be any more until completion. I mainly spoke with Alex who was always lovely on the phone. If there was one thing that bugged me, it was the handing over of the keys, I honestly could have been anyone, as there weren't any ID checks to make sure I was who I said I was. Other than this I didn't have much contact with them through the 4 months it took to complete the purchase but I am happy with my first home which I think is what matters. No one ever said it was an easy process!

No ID was required when collecting the keys as we had met Rachael several times and had been dealing with her for many month. A copy of her ID is also on the file from when the offer is initially made. Good luck in your new home.

Would give -5 stars if possible. Honestly the worst agents I have ever experienced. We've been left with a mould issue for over a year, I was told last week..it's all a bit dramatic! We got served an eviction notice at the start of our tenancy because our toilet was unusable and I got frustrated with them because they were in no rush to repair it. More recently they are trying to kick me and my pregnant wife out in two days, not following the laws of eviction, and this is because they've spat their dummy out because I've challenged them and their pride has been dented. They seem to create their own rules and regulations in regards to tenancys and I would categorigaly avoid these people at all cost if you're looking to rent

The staff/owners at Tierney's do an amazing job, especially Joanne. She is very professional, thorough, highly experienced and goes above and beyond to ensure that everything runs smoothly for you. Whether you are looking to buy, rent or for them to manage your own rental, they are extremely experienced and efficient. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Mike, Jo, Alex and the team at Tierney's have managed a property for us for years. They've always looked after us and made everything as easy as possible. We trust them and leave them to get on with doing what they're good at. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Me and my partner went to see a 3 bedroom property today. To start we was greeted with not much but a quick hello and ushered in. I asked a little bit about the radiators and was told “it’s not you’re business. You only have 10 minutes to look I’m doing a block viewing today” I asked if he would except a property with just 10 minutes and no questions aloud ? I was then told “I’m Mike tierney and I’ve been selling houses for 20 years” It was at that point we left. I’ve left the review in the hopes that the poor landlady who owns 3 bedroom in Ashton under lyne Hutton avenue knows how the treat potential rental tenants (2nd class maybe 3rd in there eyes) What a shame as the property was perfect but the other review on google leaves no doubt in my mind on how Tierney Property Management treats potential rental tenants.

I rented a flat through Tierney Property Management for nearly two years. The processes of viewing and then renting the flat were straight forward, and it was a very short time from initial viewing to moving in. During my time there I had a few relatively minor issues with the property but each time the issue was dealt with quickly and without fuss. Tierney Property Management contacted the landlords promptly and communicated back with me very quickly. I never had to chase anything. Most of the communication was by email, but occassionally I would phone, or drop into the office. Always friendly, always helpful, always professional. I had to leave the property before the end of my contract due to COVID and they arranged with the landlord to start viewings as soon as I had gone. This was also done quickly and I very much appreciate them making the effort. Overall I was very happy with them and if I ever end up back in Stalybridge I would rent through them again without hesitation. Thanks folks!

Got an email from the “Director” when I put a request in Rightmove. Rude and uncalled for when the email could have been so much nicer. Rang up and asked what the email was about and advised by the guy on the reception that it’s just an email. Told them I don’t want to view the property anymore due to customer service being dire.

I have been renting a property with Tierney for the past 3 years and cannot fault them at all. As it was my first time renting, it was so reassuring to have a group of staff that were so helpful, professional and responsive. Whenever I contacted them with a query or request, it was dealt with quickly and smoothly. I also appreciated the personal touch that makes you feel at ease whenever speaking to any of the staff. I would highly recommend Tierney and thank them for wonderful three years!

This is my first time renting so I was a little unsure about certain aspects of the whole experience - thankfully Mike, Joanne, and Alex had all the answers and were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Quoted 2 week turnaround time and completed well inside with quick responses to e-mails and calls too. If you are on the hunt for your next new place and see the Tierney sign, you can be assured of a great and hassle free service. Recommended!

Have to say renting a property for a couple of years with them the service has always been fantastic and if there was ever a problem it was sorted ASAP, I have to say this is the best estate agents we have ever used since living in Manchester. Fully supported us when we explained we are looking to buy overall 6* service! :)

I used Tierney when I wanted to rent my mums house after she had died. I had no experience of being a landlord. Mike and Jo came and were blunt and honest about what I needed to do to meet their standards. From that time on they have maintained those high standards. They have always been clear with me and tenants. I have always felt my property to be safe in their hands and when any problems have arisen they have always been there to help. I have no hesitation in recommending them to other landlords.

I have just sold through Tierney but rented my property through Tierney for the last 15 or so years. Jo has been a superhero (And Alex for the sale). If it wasn't for Jo's professional approach and quickly gaining my full trust after several bad previous agents, I would have sold my property years ago. She made renting my property completely effortless. I cant thank her and the whole team at Tierneys enough!

The owner of this company is nasty and aggressive and constantly trying to frustrate the sale of the property I am purchasing. He is also refusing to take the property of the market despite me carrying out a survey even though he promised it would be taken of the market as soon as those steps are done. Not the level of service I expect when spending such a large amount of money on a property.

If I could give a minus score I would.. we rented a property off them a while ago I am disabled and they couldnt give a crap.. They dragged there heals on even the simplest jobs, we waited over 18months just for them to fix our toilet.. it was embarrasing. The property needed a lot of work, we were basically living in a slum.. Yes Mike you are a slum landlord.. They made numerous promises to get us into the property and then didnt do any of them... Avoid these people at all costs.. all they care about is money, they do not care about tennants or clients, once they have your money that's it. they have you...
