GoogleVery disappointed, what stated out as a very positive experience soon changed. Appointments not kept, instructions/ requests not carried out and huge lack of communication. When we decided to take our house off of the market with them, I went to collect the keys. I confirmed the house number and street (which is clearly advertised on their site) The keys were handed to me, with no ID being requested or required, nothing to sign to say I had them. I even asked if I needed to prove who I was and was told , no it’s ok, they’re your keys aren’t they? Yes, they were my keys, but I could have been anyone!!!

TrustpilotShockingly poor experience across sales and lettings lack of care
My experience with Connells has been shockingly poor across both its sales and lettings services.
I have serious concerns about the checks carried out when the tenants and guarantor were accepted.
Within weeks information was provided to me suggesting these tenants were financially in lots of trouble and considerable debt
They owe serious amounts of unpaid rent. Despite repeatedly requesting clear information and supporting documentation about the referencing process, I have still not received a satisfactory explanation or complete evidence addressing my concerns. Four months after the tenants ceased paying, still no response.
Although the property was fully managed, communication and practical assistance throughout the tenancy have been extremely poor. I have frequently had to chase for information and action, and I have been left with little confidence that an appropriate level of care and oversight was given to the management of the property. It wasn’t until recently I was told they did not even have a spare set of keys!
The property was also intended to remain marketed for sale, but this did not happen. Connells has since suggested that I agreed to discontinue the marketing, referring to an email exchange that I have asked them to provide. At the time of writing, I have not been given the specific email that they say records my agreement, and the explanation surrounding this remains unclear, despite multiple emails requesting proof, they hide behind access to data taking over 3 months.
The complaints process has also been confusing, slow and protracted. Instead of receiving clear answers to specific questions, I have repeatedly encountered delays or responses that do not directly address the points raised. Totally dismissive and not intersted in improving their service or agent training.
This review reflects my own experience and the information made available to me so far. Overall, I have found the communication, management and handling of my concerns profoundly disappointing.
Even written so CEO department but couldn’t appear less proactive always suggesting go to ombudsman rather than seeming at all sympathetic.

GoogleVery good! The whole process was detailed from the start. Knowledge of the market and local area was evident from our first meeting. Leigh detailed the entire process, including market trends, helping us understand the best time to buy. For example, they accurately predicted a price drop in our preferred neighborhood, allowing us to make a timely purchase.

TrustpilotI would give them -5 if the option is there
I am writing this review to warn other landlords about the severe negligence, hidden fees, and lack of professionalism I experienced with Connells' full management service.
• Misleading Terms: Before signing, I explicitly asked the agent if there were any extra fees, as I was about to travel. I was assured in writing and verbally that there were none. This was false. Connells immediately began demanding unexpected fees.
• Dishonest Communication: Staff regularly agree to terms over the phone and later deny the conversation. Furthermore, they deliberately ignored my written email stating I did not wish to renew the agreement. This delay forced me into the May 4-month Section 8 notice period, and Connells then demanded a fee just to issue the letter.
• Total Lack of Property Care: Despite paying for full management, my property was returned in an absolute state of disaster. The brand-new oven was burnt, the microwave was broken, hair and dirt were left inside the fridge, and cigarette butts were scattered throughout.
• Property Damage & Theft: The front and back gardens were left completely overgrown. The tenants gained access to my private shed (only agreed to store their bikes) but they used my personal belongings, and a cat ruined the brand-new carpets.
• Zero Support: Connells have refused to compensate me for cleaning costs, instead demanding receipts from a year ago. They routinely ignore phone calls and take days to reply to emails.
This agency does not value its customers, and their complete failure to manage my property caused me severe mental distress. I am escalating this to the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team (NTSEAT) and senior management. Landlords, stay away.

TrustpilotThe worst estate agent I have ever…
The worst estate agent I have ever used. If your looking to rent avoid them, once your in the property expect no help from them. If you have issues that require resolution with the property, they will not give you any assistance. We had several issues and everytime we wanted assistance nothing, they are always not reachable on phone or they never call back when they say they would.
4 weeks since we moved out and still have no received our deposit. (All accounts in order BTW) So be warned if you are a tenant, avoid!

TrustpilotAnother gazumping incident
Placed a purchase offer on of their properties listed in Cambourne, Cambridge as a first time buyer.
* On offer date, they didn’t take the property off the market due to waiting for mortgage approval, and got fake assurances (from Robert - Cambourne office) of no other offers will be taken
* I then presented bank statements to proof deposit readiness and agreement in principle from 2 banks. And yet not taken off the market
* 2 weeks later presented underwriter’s approval and yet the property was mot marked as sold STC
* Finally presented mortgage offer with an expiry date in 4 months time by the bank. And asked when would they take it off the market. A day later they called apologizing for accepting another offer due to the seller wanting to complete beyond that time
During all this time, they were lying about not accepting offers. Plus they ignored my questions throughout the process about length of the chain and expected completion timeline.
I highly advise to avoid their listings. They might charge less than a market average selling fee but this attracts many low quality listings, by unserious sellers, of high chances of failure.
In this whole process, I’ve lost bank, solicitors, and surveyors fees.
Advice to readers, only place offers with a condition to take it off the market, and agree on preliminary timelines beforehand.
And for your peace of mind, avoid Connells.

TrustpilotAn Estate agent that is not interested in selling houses!
I called them to arrange a viewing and was told they would ring me back when a salesman was back in the office so I waited in for the afternoon and they never rang back. I called the next day told them I had waited in and didnt get an apology and was just told everyone was in a meeting. The property is listed with another agent so I just called them and arranged a viewing with them instead. Now looking at reviews on here I feel I have dodged a bullet! I would be most unhappy as a seller if I thought my agent was letting potential buyers slip away like this, especailly on a property listed with multiple agents!

TrustpilotPoor at communication
Poor at communication, you have to chase them for feedback on your viewing. When you do you are chasing for days for a call back.
Called up to get feedback on our viewing as we waited for the agent to turn up so we could have a chat first... the agent never turned up. We left just in case and when we checked our CCTV, they never came to the house. When we called up to ask why, they gave us feedback and when we said we checked the CCTV and saw they never attended the viewing he was a little thrown and agreed they didn't attend the viewing. I would not trust this company to sell your home.

GoogleA Regrettable Experience with Connells Filton
I sold my house through Connells Filton, but I cannot recommend their services. Falling for their sales pitch was a decision I deeply regret, as the process was riddled with frustration from start to finish. Despite being marketed as part of the "Connells Group," with its network of high-street agencies, this affiliation provided no tangible benefits. The Filton branch operated like an independent agency, lacking cohesion and expertise.
1. Inflated Valuation
Connells initially set our property’s valuation at what they called "market price." However, shortly after listing, we received an offer that was £40,000 below this figure. Shockingly, the sales negotiator claimed this was “fair value,” even though only six weeks had passed since the initial pricing. This raised serious concerns about their reliability and initial valuation.
2. Mishandled Part-Exchange
Determined to hold firm on our asking price, we explored part-exchange options. To our dismay, Connells provided the developer with a significantly lower valuation of our property, severely undermining our negotiating position.
3. Communication Failures
After securing an offer close to our asking price, Connells’ lack of professionalism became even more evident. Our first-time buyer was left unaware of the gap between exchange and completion dates, a key detail that had been clearly documented in emails. Connells attributed this error to staff turnover, claiming the case manager had left the company and that emails were not backed up, a glaring and unacceptable oversight.
4. Poor and Inconsistent Updates
Connells’ communication throughout the process was appalling. At one point, we were told the contracts were signed, only to later discover conflicting information from our solicitor. Additionally, we learned belatedly that the buyer lacked the necessary deposit funds, which delayed the process further. To make matters worse, the buyer later claimed they could proceed, but only if we agreed to vacate earlier than planned. Connells’ incompetence turned an already stressful process into a nightmare. No landlord would be giving 2 month rent which i thought would be obvious to estate agency.
5. Failure to Resolve Issues
Frustrated with Connells’ incompetence, we sought to terminate our contract. Despite their clear failures, they insisted on enforcing a one-month notice period. Reluctantly, we agreed, on the condition that they either re-advertise the property or finalize the existing buyer’s agreement within that time. Unsurprisingly, Connells failed to deliver on either front.
During this entire month, Connells could not secure a single new buyer. The moment we switched to The Agency UK (TAUK), the contrast was staggering. On the very first day, TAUK found eight potential buyers, a feat Connells couldn’t achieve in an entire month. This stark difference highlighted not just Connells’ ineffectiveness, but also their lack of professionalism and effort. TAUK’s exceptional service, which included regular updates via WhatsApp and a proactive approach, underscored just how substandard Connells’ performance had been.
6. Negligence Beyond the Sale
Even after the sale was supposedly finalized, Connells’ negligence persisted. The buyer, frustrated by delays, visited our property directly. It turned out Connells had failed to communicate crucial information about standard short-stop and long-stop completion dates for new builds (for the second time), even though we had provided this information in writing. This unnecessary oversight caused stress for both us and the buyer, further highlighting Connells’ unprofessionalism.
Final Verdict
Connells Filton provided one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever encountered. From poor communication to critical oversights and an overall lack of accountability, their service was far below acceptable standards.
Their inability to secure even a single buyer during the notice period, while TAUK found eight in just one day, perfectly encapsulates their priorities is not with seller.

Total lack of professionalism and respect for the client's time
I was scheduled to view a property on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The agent made me drive to the location, then postponed it for an hour. After waiting, I was called again for a second postponement, this time citing completely implausible reasons. It is unacceptable to waste people's time and money like this. I do not recommend this agency due to their lack of seriousness.

GoogleThe entire team at Filton could not have been more helpful in getting to market and then selling my property. Particularly Charlie, Jess and the manager, Kate (all of whom I met) listened carefully to my requirements and I am sure their very professional approach was evident to the prospective buyers who came and on whom I am sure it made an excellent impression, making my selling much easier. I have had a first class experience with Connells and would highly recommend them.

TrustpilotTerrible experience
Terrible experience. Lovely staff though. NO actual advice given. Didn't sell it but equally gave no advice about the little changes we could have made which would have helped us. The tenant left it in bad condition and we never visited the property. We relied on them to give us advice, they marketed it, conducted viewings but not once did they say - you should do x & y and this will help the sale. Persuaded us to use their auction option as 'in all the years of me working here, we've never not sold one at auction' - ours didn't sell and we had to pay £6k. We removed it, went on with another agent having done some work and then it sold straight away.

Useless. Don’t want to help or speak to you unless it is regarding you paying rent.
Property management do not follow anything up or rush to complete any jobs.
The property I was renting had no hot water and no heating in the middle of winter and I had to chase property management for months to even get them to get someone out to look at the issues I was having.
If my dream home came up and estate agent was Connells, I wouldn’t even consider renting / buying it.
