Fraud risk

Refused to return deposit after tenancy ended, eventually complying four months later after we enacted formal action. Ignored all our calls and emails, and during the little communication I could get with them I was treated with more rudeness and dishonesty than I have ever experienced. In particular Deposits Manager Paddy and Leanne consistently treated us with the utmost contempt. Probably some sort of illegal operations behind the scenes. Avoid!

I recently moved into Brigford property and I can't express how grateful I am for the fantastic support from Lucy and Murray. From the moment I began the application process, they were incredibly helpful and attentive to my needs. Lucy guided me through all the paperwork with clarity and patience, ensuring I understood everything. On move-in day, Murray went above and beyond to assist me, he helped with any questions I had and made sure everything was in order. To top it all off, I received a delightful box of chocolates as a sweet welcome gift, which added such a nice touch! Their friendly demeanor and professionalism truly made my transition seamless. I strolled into Burchell Edwards on one of the worst days of my live. My husband had walked out on me & taken the kids, I was beside myself. I didn’t know where to begin with my property search, I haven’t sold/bought a house in nearly 10 years so as I walked into Burchell Edwards with my tail between my legs.. there was Harvey, he greeted me with a wide smile & a welcoming aura. He comforted me as he presented properties within my budget. He spent at least an hour with me, doing as much as he possibly could to comfort an old bird like myself. His level of customer service is extraordinary, I felt like we had been friends for years. Thank you Harvey, I won’t be using any other agent other than Burchell Edwards. Highly recommend.

Selling a house through Burchell Edwards was an experience I never wish to relive. Had I not been resident abroad, BE would have lost the contract early in the process. Communication with the agent was hit and miss at the best of times and almost completely absent at others. The manager was completely incapable of keeping me informed and always managed to lay the blame elsewhere (among other things, he could not telephone me from the office because I have a non-UK phone number, however his colleagues had no difficulty). A number of defaults in the house were dismissed as insignificant, only when the sale became less obvious did he finally suggest calling in a surveyor… Had this been done earlier, I could have made repairs and received a better sale price ; as it was, time was against me (among other things, council tax levies 6 months post Grant of Probate). The handling of the legal side by Medway Law was no better with a similar level of communication. There appeared to be an ignorance of law, heightened by demands deemed ridiculous by HM Courts and Tribunals Service. Finalization of sale (by modern auction) was set by the date of notification of sale, 56 days, but there was no communication until the very last minute about how the finalization worked, despite repeated enquiries. This information was made known just 10 days before the deadline with a request for previously unmentioned documentation or documentation not demanded ; in my case, this documentation was at my home outside the UK and I was fortunate enough that my wife was scheduled to come to the UK just two days later… NEVER NEVER sell your house through Burchell Edwards modern auction system, it stinks.

The worst out there

The worst out there, put us through so much drama, very stressful and mentally draining, their mortgage broker is absolutely useless, 4 months later we were declined, absolute waste of time, waste of energy, they just didn't want us to buy it for some reason, maybe because we are a different skin colour to them! Stay away from the burnley branch, good lord, how do they get away with this bs.

Tried to buy a property that Burchall Edwards have for sale. Thought it would be a straight forward process however unfortunately this estate agent doesn't seem interested in your offer unless you use their conveyancing service, which will set you back £600. There are multiple reviews about this on the Internet so this is clearly not a one off. For those unaware this is illegal. Negative experience unfortunately.While they sold my house and met their contractual obligations, the communication and service from Pauline was poor.Close to completion, I spoke to the manager Nicola, evidenced the issues I faced and I offered what I believed to be a fair 80%. Unfortunately she didn’t agree, which meant it was escalated to the ombudsman.The ombudsman agreed to my 80% “As a gesture of goodwill In recognition of the communication issues faced and visits to my property without prior consent”.Very disappointed with the service but was more disappointed that the Macclesfield branch would accept no responsibility and see things through my eyes when I tried, amicably, to reason with Nicola and provided evidence. People make mistakes and things happen in business, but she was having none of it and for me it was the principle of the matter.Based on other Macclesfield position reviews this may well have been a one off, I’ve purchased before with Pauline and she was great then.One advice I would give is don’t be afraid to speak up to them - even if they don’t reply to you - it’s your sale, time and money and you have a right to receive good communication. I regret not escalating things earlier in the process.

Put my property up for sale with them all they do is over promise, the staff have no idea, couldn’t accept any feed back and very patronising, everything was a struggle after 3 viewings in 7 months took house of the market with them. Recently I have been through the process of buying my first property through Auction with Burchell Edwards. As this has been my first experience dealing with estate agents and buying a property I did have my concerns. However, after speaking and meeting with Luke Hinson, their mortgage advisor, I couldn’t be happier with the whole process. No question was too small and he was always on hand to help out, or seeking further advice if he could not. I would definitely work along Burchell Edwards, and Luke, in the future.
