Good for renting but watch out for your deposit

I rented from Zenko for 3+ years and enjoyed my stay. Finding the property in the first place, applying & moving in was straightforward. They were also relatively quick to fix issues through the maintenance portal (usually within 24 hours), so can’t fault them there. They did however make multiple claims against my deposit about pre-existing wear and tear which I disproved one by one. They did also charge me a cleaning fee despite leaving the property in a matching if not improved state on return, I’d be a little hesitant to rent from them again.

After being sold, they (and their old parent company) take no responsibility for the actions of an employee lying to a deposit protection service. This has left me minus my deposit and Ian Darley (now with the parent company) was harassing me to remove my reviews. I have had to report Ian to the police for Harrassment as he continually demands I remove this review! Then Tobias at the parent company Zenko starts requesting the removal on their review! The only helpful person here is Brian Whitakker who is the new owner. A very helpful and understanding man.

Worst landlords in 40 years of renting. The owner T*** is very unprofessional and your rent will likely be raised every second month due to ridiculous reasons. A common theme of deposit theft too if you look at all their reviews and from personal experience. Look elsewhere.

He was extremely helpful, professional and communicative during the process of getting the property on the market and he sold my flat within 4 days of this being on the market. During the conveyancing process, Tobias continued to be highly communicative with myself and the Buyer, chasing and providing updates as appropriate to ensure a swift and hassle free sale. Although Tobias managed my sale from start to finish, whenever I have called into the office or telephoned, all of the staff members have been highly professional and courteous. If I could give less than one star I would. Refused our repayment of deposit due to black mould that was already there when we moved in. Left the black mould when notified even though I had small children and I myself was pregnant. Said we could fit baby gates but then refused repayment for the holes they left which were filled and repaired. Took over half a year to fix problem with back door that didn’t lock properly. All together had a terrible time. Lied about previous tenants and was given false information when it came to approximate utility prices. Just awful.
