GoogleFor more than 10 years Ian and his team have managed my rental on Slinn in Crookes. First class service. I fully recommended Ian and his team's professionalism and landlord service. Recently there was an unexpected big issue with a tenant that other management companies would have walked away from.......without hesitation Ian sorted it even though it wasn't his responsibility. Thanks Ian...............

Google60 seconds late for viewing a property due to traffic and the estate agent had already left the property and was nowhere in sight. Travelled across the city with disabled daughter for the viewing. Not sure if we'll rebook as we are looking for a better level of customer care than they have shown up to now. Very disappointing. Having said that, communication with the office had been good up to that point. We dealt with Chloe, who seemed to be on the ball and nice enough.

GoogleI rented a house from Henry Spencer & Sons for 5 years. Ian and Sue were always reasonable, kind, and helpful. Ian was always pleasant to chat with during the annual inspections and Sue when calling into the office. Over the years, there were a few instances where repairs were needed, and they were always quick to get someone out to carry out the work. They were always good to us, which is appreciated to this day. I highly recommend working with Henry Spencer and Sons. Thanks again!

GoogleWe rented a property in S6 through Henry Spencer & Sons Ltd (HSS) back in Jan 2021 and just left the property (so we have first hand experience of HSS). Overall they were very professional throughout the tenancy tenure. They were efficient in responding to tenant requests and coordinating with the landlord. They usually rectified most of the issues within the shortest time. They were having planned visits to the property to check the status of the property and also to check how we are maintaining it (which is quiet positive). Ian & Harriet were always approachable in their office and on the phone as well as emails. They were also good at keeping a look at the safety issues at the property and keep sending inspections for gas, fire, etc. When we concluded the tenancy contract with HSS, all proceeding were handled very much in an amicable way while protecting tenant and landlord interests. Overall I liked Henry Spencer & Sons Ltd based on my experiences.

GoogleI’ve been with Spencer’s Letting Agents for many years, renting out my small portfolio of three‑bedroom homes through them, and the experience has always been excellent. Ian stands out for his professionalism, knowledge, and genuinely brilliant service. It feels like a bespoke, personal approach, and dealing with the same familiar team members makes everything smoother and more consistent. I really appreciate that there isn’t a constant turnover of staff or the usual issues of calls not being returned. Ian’s legal knowledge is impressive, and he always works with you to ensure you find the right tenant. His team are unfailingly polite, helpful, and professional. James Thompson

GoogleI have nothing but great things to say about the staff here! All the way through my tenancy the team was very supportive and accommodating for my over worried self and answered as many questions as I needed to ask and never once made me feel I was being a pain. All the team I had contact with are genuine and kind people, I mainly spoke to Harriet who really listened to me and helped me approach any situations needed and giving me helpful information/Advice and Ian, always polite and straight in with any problems at hand. GoogleI have used Henry Spencer to let my house for the past 12 years. They have connections with multiple workmen and offer to book them on my behalf when they notify me of a problem. They have provided me with the best tenants throughout and are a lovely team, always on hand to help with any issue. I live abroad and wouldn’t have managed to let out my house without having such trust in them as company. Thank you Ian, Sue, Ben and Joshua

GoogleI've had a really good renting experience with the team at Henry Spencer, and would certainly recommend them. From viewing the property to move in date was approx 2 weeks which is a really good turnaround, felt confident they were on top of everything from the beginning. Team have been on hand for any queries, respond promptly to emails, and have sorted out a few niggles on move in quickly and without fuss. Thanks for the great service! .

GoogleRented with HSS for just under two years. Harriet was always so helpful both on the phone and via email. Tenancy renewal was easy and the moving out process was also straightforward. Any maintenance issues were always sorted extremely quickly. Couldn't fault HSS and would recommend them.

GoogleReceived a very poor service throughout the whole renting process which was extremely disappointing. The issues started immediately after we applied for the property: 1) The property was advertised at £550 p/m which we applied for and paid the holding fee. I was told some days later that the rent was actually £575 p/m not the price advertised originally. We decided to carry on as we really liked the property. 2) The property was advertised as 'Unfurnished' so in preparation we bought full furnishings. However when we moved in we found the property to be fully furnished, another advertising mistake. 3) The inventory was terrible, the pictures were really poor and what they described as in 'good' condition was a joke (full disclosure looking back I should have taken my own pictures or videos and fought the inventory more so that lies on my shoulders but I had no experience with renting). 4) It then took several weeks to remove the unwanted furniture although it was no fault of our own. 5) The lock on the back door was broken meaning we couldn't use it - that took over 6 weeks to get a locksmith out. 6) The washing machine broke (as part of our tenancy it was not our responsibility to fix) so we reported it. It then took again 6 weeks to get a new one which really is unacceptable. 7) I had to chase for several weeks before I had any answers to what was happening with my deposit, as it turns out the landlord was claiming the majority. There was no assistance at all from Henry Spencer, no emails or calls. I was ignored at all times as they were no longer the agent as it was being sold, I think this is the most disappointing aspect of it all. 8) The claim the landlord was partly against the furniture that Henry Spencer removed, he wanted to take my money for furniture they couldn't find! I really am very disappointed with the outcome of this, my advice would be ensure you cover your back before entering any tenancy with the company.

GoogleHSS are really organised, helpful, and most importantly friendly. As applicants for a house, my partner and I had some difficulties getting my guarantor approved by a third-party company working with the agency. However, thanks to the very quick correspondence and support from the admin team, we got everything sorted within just 48 hours. I’ve applied for other houses in the past and the agencies have always rather snobbishly judged me based on me currently being a student. This was not an issue with HSS at all and there was no prejudice whatsoever - they are therefore completely nonjudgmental and young person-friendly if you’re also from that sort of background. My partner and I can’t wait to move into our new house and we’re very thankful for HSS’s hard work, especially Johanna’s. Thanks guys!

GoogleSneaky and dishonest company. They tell you you are required to do XYZ in order to comply with legal and contractual obligations but in reality they're lying, it's only for their own convenience. They are not your friends no matter how friendly they may act in the beginning, they are only for themselves - no notion of genuine kindness, decency or customer service. Make sure you're well versed in your own rights otherwise they will take advantage where they can. Proceed with caution.

GoogleWe have had a great experience letting a home from Henry Spencer and Sons over the past 4 years. The communication has been excellent at all times, and we have always felt 100% supported in any issues we have raised regarding our rental property. On moving out everything was handled fantastically and was very efficient. We were sorry to leave them (due to relocating) but would thoroughly recommend to others. Honest, proffesional and personal service (which is not always the case with renting!) Thanks to all at Henry Spencer for a great letting experience.
