TrustpilotCrikey, what a shambles.
Crikey, what a mess. Had a rental with Connells Management, also bought a property which was under Connells Management. It is quite clear that there is not many of the personnel there that know what they're doing. They use old documentation with incorrect practice process, prices, and details on. They don't communicate with other team members, if team members go on holiday, your case is on hold. Multiple conversations where the person in question doesn't actually know the process or anything about the process. Informed a problem is solved, only for it to continue, forcing you to keep calling and dealing with them.I have never known a business so incompetent in every area where you have to deal with them. With any luck, I shall never have the pleasure again.

TrustpilotConnells not returning deposit money
As a tenant I moved out of my property on 31st May .. my landlord approved the cleanliness and tidiness of the property on 4th June, so this was all ok, and I was told my deposit money had been requested from Connells. By 13th June I still hadn't received anything so I chased Connells who told me they'd "been waiting for an email from myself" to authorise fund transfer. This was the first I'd heard about this. So I sent the email, was told the funds would be processed, but it could take 10 working days...On 25th June I still had no deposit money and no update, so I called Connells requesting information. After being hung up on, after continually persisting, I finally got through to someone who told me my deposit request HADN'T EVEN BEEN PROCESSED ... words fail me at this point. They have now told me I should have my deposit money back this week but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if I need to chase it yet again. At what point does it become criminal negligence to withold this substantial sum of money from its rightful owner?

TrustpilotGreat speedy service from Hope at Connells
Speedy response to all communication. Hope was our estate agent, she was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. She made us feel really relaxed looking round the property, and continued to provide a speedy and informative service throughout the process of renting our new property, a pleasure to deal with.

GoogleOur experience with Connells was nothing but positive. Totally professional, our purchasers initial buyer pulled out but David and Kelly kept plugging for us and despite Brexit and Covid ensured everything kept going. A special shout to Kelly who was like a terrier regularly following up the whole chain to ensure all was going well. I would not hesitate to recommend Connells Rushden.

TrustpilotAbsolute Scam artists
Absolute Scam artists. Ridiculous deductions from deposit (£250 for an oven that needed cleaning and a shower screen that was dirty). Neighbours said cleaners never attended, refused to provide an invoice for cleaning. Useless communication. Agent I dealt with made return of deposit as diffcult as possible (taken 2.5 months) and pulled stunts like ignoring my email for a week, emailing a reply at 5:20 on a Friday and when I responded immediately, got an "out of office for a week" auto-response. Scum.

TrustpilotDo not use or work for this company.
Honestly, the worst company you could work for or use as a client. I have not experienced everything quite like it. I had witnessed, heard and been made to tell so many lies to paying customers. Money is all they care about, not ones health. Not a good company.

We completed on our house on Friday and We used connells as our Agent, their customer service is awful. No viewing feedback, I had to ring them each time to ask, most times just being told we can’t get hold of them. On one viewing I happened to be in the house and the agent let it slip that the week before the woman who was supposed to view our house didn’t actually view it and there was confusion and it wasn’t our house she wanted to view, instead of telling us this, they made up feedback and said one of the bedrooms was too small! They had a key for us in their office so they could let themselves in to do viewing yet one time we got called back to let them in as they didn’t know they had a key! After we had agreed an offer that was the last we pretty much heard from them. I would chase and chase on emails for updates just to get a snotty email back from Adam who’s the sales branch manager. Absolutely no communication pretty much from start to finish!

I wish I had read these reviews before using Connells. Absolutely terrible. We used the mortgage advisor service for first time buyers. We could never get hold of anyone, and it would take at least a week to get a response (we were in a contract race). We decided to pull out of the race and look at other options, booked and appointment to get some help. We drove half an hour to be told: 1) I am not allowed to help you if you are someone else’s client and 2) I cancelled your appointment yesterday by which he meant he had deleted it from his own diary but not contacted me at all to tell me this is the case. Walked away very angry drove all the way back home and told them we will not be using them moving forward. Now using an independent mortgage advisor who is fantastic, and free of charge!

I have recently moved into a rental property, moving house can be very stressful and Connells made the transition into our new property almost stress free. James kept in touch with us to keep us updated on a weekly basis so we knew what to expect and was prompt with any questions or queries we had.I will definitely be recommending Connells in the future.

Connells warndon.Terrible. Just brought our first house and the seller used these lot. We had to chase all the time, not kept in the loop at all. I was led to believe I was in a bidding war with interested party, turns out they lied. I paid an extra 2 grand for nothing. On completion they gv my mrs a welcome pack with random stuff which several were out of date. Steer clear, bunch of muppets is putting it very lightly

TrustpilotResidential Lettings service apalling
We used Connells letting service to save us time for a considerably large fee. Not only was the tenant very disappointed with their service but Connells asked us for the names of contractors and in one case asked us to organise the service that we had paid them to provide. We never had the same person dealing with anything and even when we dismissed them we had to resort to their complaints process to partially resolve the issue. Steer well clear is my advice as you will pay for a service that you not receive. Never again.

TrustpilotConnells North St Bristol
Connells North St Bristol Speaking as a landlord I would not use this particular branch of Connells again. While getting some properties valued recently the agent and I got chatting,I explained I had a difficult tenant and due to my age I was thinking of handing my residential portfolio over to a property management company. He advised me to use his team (only one person at this particular branch) and me being keen for an easy life contacted Beth. While I should stress that the team I spoke to in her absence (kingswood branch) came across as wanting to help me and also very professional as was the sales team at this branch,I can honestly say I don’t feel the same way about Beth. I felt like she was under the impression she was me a favour rather than charging me 11% something she actually did say is I’m dealing with the tenant for free despite me telling her to bill me for it. The whole point of me letting her deal with this particularly tenant was to see if she would be capable of looking after my portfolio. I personally feel this would be something she would not be capable of doing.

TrustpilotLeft alone to deal with a tenant who doesn’t want to leave after being served with a notice.
I directed Connells that I needed my property back and they advised the customer of my instructions. They told me the customer has to save the notice period, which is about a month and a half. As I’m writing this review, Almost 6 months later, the tenant still hasn’t left the property. There hasn’t been any updates from Connells regarding the eviction notice. They left me to deal with the tenant (which hasn’t been easy) although THEY ARE STILL COLLECTING MONTHLY FEES from this property. I have now decided to go the legal route…will update in due course

GoogleMy experience with Connells was one of speed, I found a property on right move and decided to view. I contacted Connells and the viewing was arranged for 2 days later. After seeing the property I put in an offer and it was accepted. I used the in house mortgage broker as I am a lifetime member and everything went smoothly and quickly. I think its said moving house can be the most stressful time, I found the speed of Connells and the amiable staff to make that part as stress free as possible. The knowledge of the staff and turnaround of queries is great.

GoogleHaving recently had to sell my late mother's property I was very pleased with the support and professional approach to what was a bitter sweet time for myself.
I found David very thorough and professional in all that he does and always talked me through everything and was always on the other end of the phone if I had any problems. The sale went through very smoothly and they were a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend connells and I would use them myself in the future if necessary.

GoogleI first contacted Connells when I was interested in viewing a property with them. The first viewing went smoothly and I decided i’d like a second viewing - to which I was told the vendor wouldn’t allow me to look again unless I went through Connells mortgages and proved I could afford it. (I’m a young, single female so obviously in their eyes I was probably a time waster). So I told them I was very interested in the property but to forget it. I then received a phone call back 10 minutes later to advise me the vendor had apparently changed his mind and would let me view it again.
I put an offer on the house and told it was an ‘acceptable offer’ but i’d need to see their mortgage advisor first. So i popped into the branch and saw him straight away, when he looked at my payslip he said ‘oh yes that is a decent wage’ as if He was surprised I could actually afford it.
Anyway, the offer was accepted and I was then told they wouldn’t take the house off the market without a Decision in Principle from the bank, which they could ‘happily push through now’ for me. I politely declined as i’d told them all along I would be sticking with my current mortgage. In which they tried their bullying tactics of ‘well you wont get that sorted now on a Friday afternoon before the weekend so we’ll have to continue with the weekend viewings and it’s likely to sell’. I told them they could do what they liked as it wasn’t my house to say otherwise. Anyway, 30 minutes later I phoned back with a Decision in Principle from the bank in which I spoke to the delightful Kelly, who seemed less than pleased their tactics hadn’t worked and was then advised by her that they’d only take it off the market with a solicitor’s name too, followed by a lengthy lecture on how amazing their own solicitors were. This was at 5pm on a Friday so she knew I’d struggle to get hold of anyone else. I hung up and called back 5 minutes later with a solicitor’s name i’d used before. I then had to go in with my passport on the Saturday and when I asked as to why the house for still for sale in the window, she was less than polite.
Cut forward to going to pick up the keys, the office was empty apart from my estate agent and Kelly, who refused to even look at me or make eye contact with me, never mind congratulate me on my new purchase from them. Obviously thought i’d be a shoo-in for a boost to their monthly commission targets.
Oh and to top it off, later in the process I found out the home had been part exchanged for a new build and the so called ‘Vendor’ who refused my 2nd viewing initially, was actually none the wiser.
Would NEVER use this office to ever sell my own home. Rude, pushy and unhelpful.

TrustpilotWhen is an auction not an auction - seller beware
Seller beware of signing up to the Modern Auction method of selling your house. I did and wasn’t given the contract to read before signing up or sent a copy to allow the cooling off period by the Watford branch. Apart from being told this would be easy and bidding was like on EBay. Interested buyers would bid and the idea was that the price would reach the reserve or above. The buyer pays 4.2% above the sale price and the seller pays no commission. All good so far! In reality people who view make an offer and as in The traditional selling method the offer is put to the seller. If the offer is refused the buyer is under no obligation to put that bid on the Iamsold website to generate more bids. So for 6O days my house stayed at its original starting price even though people had made offers moving towards the reserve price. People on the watchlist saw none of this as nothing happened. And it certainly didn’t generate a ‘bidding frenzy’I gave notice on the contract and was told it would cost me nothing. SELLER BEWARE clause 3 of the contract which I had never been given a copy of stated that I would be liable to pay the 4.2% for the next 12 MONTHS if anyone Connells had introduced subsequently bought the house. A list of 60 people. Going to a new agent you are tied to Connells for 12 MONTHS and the new agent is obliged to tell Connells if someone from the list buys the house. You, the seller then incurs the 4.2% commission charge plus the commission charge to the new agent. This does not happen if you stay with Connells and use the traditional method. However as they introduced 60 people and failed to sell the house, which by the way was valued much higher at the start of the process and the again by an independent agent more recently, they are unlikely to be able to sell it at a higher price. For a buyer a £300,000 house will cost around an extra £20,000 on top of the buying price with stamp duty and 4.2%. In my opinion The traditional method where the price starts high and buyers make offers gives a far better deal to both seller and buyer as both are in control of the sale price and end costs and there is no ambiguity.

TrustpilotFalse advertising, lack of communication and professionalism
Connells MaidstoneWe recently rented a property that was advertised as partly furnished. On both the website and after enquiring they confirmed that would include only the white goods. However after moving in we found multiple piece of furniture that were not communicated and now they are asking us to pay for storage in case we don't want them in the house! If you are dealing with them make sure you go through every little detail before you make any decision - overall very poor experience..
