Scamming renters and owners alike

Kara Bluitt and her team at Chestertons Fulham clearly cannot resist the temptation to take money that isn't theirs. They tried to just skim a few hundred pounds out of our deposit for no reason. When confronted with the fact that the "defects" they were keen to charge us for were actually detailed as pre-existing in the check-in inventory, they wouldn't even bother to reply. They would repeatedly blame delays on the owners. Eventually I had to contact the owners myself to resolve the matter and eureka, 4 months later, we finally have our deposit back. Throughout our tenancy, whenever maintenance issues would arise, they would send strictly their contractors, who would not solve the issue but happily charge the owners.

Don't normally leave reviews, but I have to say, Anca Serban from the Vacates team was super helpful during a tricky time with a challenging tenant. Her and her team were understanding, efficient, and know what they're doing, giving useful advice from the framework of understanding people, and also the relevant legal options. The tenant has now left, is themselves satisfied, and all ended happily.

When the flat we were buying fell…

When the flat we were buying fell through at the last minute, we asked Chestertons for help. Here, we dealt predominantly with Zoe Birch. Whilst all staff were great, Zoe stood out. Nothing was too much trouble and when we thought we would have to sleep on friends' sofas, Zoe was reassuring and proactive in sourcing a flat for us and arranging a viewing as soon as possible. Within the space of a week, she had secured the flat for us (a six month lease was what we needed) and we were approved. Once in the flat, we had one small issue with electrics and again, Zoe came through and sorted an electrician within hours of us phoning and informing her. I cannot speak more highly of Chestertons staff in Barnes but Zoe was exemplary.

Very positive experience with team leader Marianna Charalambous

We've been renting through Chesterton's for around a year now. Thanks to our main contact, Marianna Charalambous, the whole process has been quite streamlined and they've taken care of all our issues and needs for repairs (which were organised promptly). She has always been very helpful, courteous, and professional. On the down side, the whole process of being forced to go through the third party company Tenant Shop to set up things like Council Tax, water, etc. was an issue, as the third party company got it wrong and we had to redo contracts - so it was more of a nuisance than help. There should be an option to opt out of this. In any case, Marianna was very helpful also during this issue, so it all turned out well. We hope to keep working with Marianna her for long.

Managed to rent a central and spacious 1 bed flat with ease thanks to Margaret and Joyce. M showed us the flat for a viewing then arranged the letting process for us which went smoothly without much hassle. Since moving in, J has been very helpful and prompt in regards to upkeeping the flat maintenance. This is my first time renting with Chestertons and I am impressed with the service provided, usually don't go for letting agencies but I know I can trust them. Lovely staff, all very friendly.

Response to Issue of oversea Tenant

I was chased in mid July 2023 by Freehold Managers for the overdue ground rent which, based on my records, had been paid. As a non-UK tenant, I expect timely and attentive response or solution to issues I may encounter in day to day management. To my full satisfaction, Xiaoyi FAN managed to find out that the payment should be made in May 2023 failed unnoticedly due to technical problem; and subsequently sort out the issue timely for me. Xiaoyi is professional and works diligently in managing my property.

Very good experience

I have started renting via Chesterton's and found the process very efficient. A lot of thanks has to be given to Rosie Mummery who assisted with the flat finding. She was very thorough with communication and the documentation side. They use an online document portal which is very easy to use and its easy to follow the steps to ensure the process with the landlord is smooth. I will at a point of first contact be using Rosie and her team next time i am flat hunting!
