If I could give 0 I would

If I could give 0 I would . I rented a flat , 6 months rent up front . The property had no working electric and when I phoned the harborne branch the manager shanti said “what do you want me to do about it” after having no electric all night even though I was told the electric had been checked and was passed . Thier quick to take your money and then rude and unwilling to solve any issues . Shantis attitude is disgusting

Good Service

I went through Martin and Co to find my little cosy flat with my friend for our first place together. Being young we didn’t know much about renting and the whole process however all the staff were happy to help and clarify anything with us. We did have a slight issue with something in the flat before we moved in, however that all got sorted promptly and in time for our move in date. We are very happy in our flat and would like to thank the team at Martin and Co in Bebington for dealing with us.

This is a review of the 2 people at the…

This is a review of the 2 people at the top of their Derby centre office: the director and the proprietor. Everyone else there -wholesome people.1. Boiler needed reviewing. They sent the technician to just walk in my housemate's room (that's where the boiler is). I happen to catch the technician as he was entering. He explains. After checking with my housemate, I tell him nobody told us anything. He calls the director and immediately you could tell this person thinks he's better than us. Eventually, he's just blaring 'I don't need anyone's permission...just get in there.' The tech tells him about the obstacle and the big man decides to strut over himself to show who's 'in charge,' I imagine. He comes down beating his chest and looking down. After a few exchanges, the obvious is he clearly has no idea of human rights, privacy, decency, professionalism, to say nothing of his arrogance and disrespect. ‘It’s a legal requirement. I don’t need your permission. I only have to give notice’ he goes in the end. Poor thing didn’t realise he put his foot in his mouth because I obviously follow with ‘well, give us notice, then,’ and just looked at him. Oh, he lost it. You could almost see his ego exploding and his face just reddening, steaming and just losing control of itself. To top up my inner laughter but also his own lowliness, he throws over his shoulder from a safe distance ‘this is none of your business.’ Do you guys understand why people like him get like that? Because we f-ing let them! 2. Suddenly, I needed to get out fast, covid times and I found out my housemate was taking no precautions; he was seeing people from all over on a regular basis. The director himself shows me some rooms. I know I was in a pinch, but none of these places were decent enough. Take covid test, move with partner for a while, keep looking. But apparently, that didn't sit well with our good director, cause we were having a phone conversation about it and he clearly believed he was doing me personal favours by doing his job properly, so I tell him that and he f-s me off and hangs up. 3. I bring the previous matter through their complains system. Turns out, the head honcho, says that I by me protecting privacy and demanding respect I was 'blocking and interfering' during the boiler incident and that I'm lying about being f-ed off, treated unprofessionally, disrespectfully and frankly uncautiously, too - what if I had been a vulnerable person, to say nothing of the fact they should have been understanding about my increased risk of getting covid from living with a lunatic. She told me 'I suggest you channel your energy into finding alternative accommodation... I will not be responding to you again on this matter.' also'Please continue your tenancy in a 'tenant like manner' until you vacate.'Therefore, me complaining about their lowly, unprofessional, entitled, pompous behaviour is 'untenantly', ladies and gentlemen. So, according to their complaints policy if I want to take the matter further I have to contact the proprietor. Guess who she was? Indeed, the person who just called me a liar and told me I should go somewhere else. What do you guys think?

Overall Experience

Overall the company is quite easy to deal with, however we unfortunately dealt with one agent who made our experience quite slow and very difficult, however when we reached out to the head manager (Steve) everything began to run smoothly.

Do not use..Terrible staff and customer service.worst experience I’ve had.

To ever who this may concern I wouldLike to raise a few complaints.Firstly the way I was spoken to by one of your advisors on Whatts app the messages he sent to me and the manner he spoke to me over text message is absolutely appalling and clearly not been trained in customer service I was told he was called James and in the Manchester City centre branch.Secondly the gentleman I spoke to on the phone was also very rude and abrupt with me..thirdly just the whole experience that my partner has had to go through and lack of communication on your side with getting back to her regarding matters for the applications is not acceptable. It’s an outrage and these matters will be taken forward.I have also informed the association residential letting agents. Also trading standards have been made aware of this matter of complaint and the property ombudsman regards to these complaints. This is totally unacceptable and will be taking further.

I arranged a viewing on a property

I arranged a viewing on a property for 11.45 am. Thru their Rochdale branch. I was pulled over by the police for being on my phone. I telephone martin and co,s office to say I would be 5mins late. The person I was supposed to meet phoned me at 11.48 to enquire where i was and I explained I was literally round the corner. He was abrupt rude and said I,d have to rearrange. I arrived at 11.50. He was still there but pulled away as I got out of my car. Is this the way to sell a house? I dont think so.

Hello please be careful of the Harborne…

Hello please be careful of the Harborne and Birmingham branches, they are a franchise and customer service levels vary. Try and avoid if you are a Muslim female, quite prejudicial and in the wake of things are the moment, I feel imperative that people are made aware. Avoid at all costs. You have other perfectly non racist estate agents. We were:- lied to- things kept changing - false costings - not informed of some of the costings. - some of the checks were disorganised and the day before tenants were moving in! - issues whilst tenants moving I. If you are a busy professional Muslim please use other estate agents. They do discrimate and you deserve a better service. I am stuck with these people for one year. Don’t make the same mistake !Regards Ava. Hossaini

Colchester branch AVOID

referring to the Colchester branchMy experience with martin and co was good up to a point, but the realization of there predatory business tactics highlights it as a company to avoid.when my contract with them ended they tried to bully me into a 12 month upfront contract, saying i was legally tied to this contract, sadly for them i know contract law and explained how they didn't know what they was talking about. That then moved on to them being petty for the rest of the time ive had to deal with them, they tried to charge me for the following:a used toilet brush that was there when i moved in??a broken bath panel that was broken already when i moved in. (it was advertised with pictures of the bath panel broken at this point and they hadn't been to take pictures of my property due to covid)a lose toilet seat that was described as having a lose screw + £20 pound charge to them.ohh and the 120 cleaning fee, even though i had the carpets professionally cleaned and they had a painter in as i was moving out???ohh and to top it of they sent my deposit as cheque.real shame as I'm planing to invest in a large sum of buy to lets in the future and was looking forward with working with them, but i do not want my finances and business to be connected to theses predatory business tactics.

Stole money from me.

Started off well, then service began to rapidly decline. It would take months to organise repairs, then when I finally decided I had had enough and moved out the deposit dispute was almost completely fabricated.I had no problem with two of the deductions and said I would be happy to pay them, and asked to proof of the others. The landlord then accepted my 'proposals' without providing photographic proof, further making me believe this was just some attempt at keeping my money. Then when sending the money through DPS, added £20 to my 'proposals', finally deciding it wasn't worth it I have now accepted the payment but I can say with all honesty I will never rent a property through any Martin & Co branch again. I hope that extra £20 they stole off me goes towards employee training! My experience was from 2016.

Martin & Co was recommended to me by a good friend of mine when I was desperately looking for the ideal accommodation. I explained to them exactly what I wanted and they have arranged viewing for me during the same week. Fortunately for me I fell in love with the very 1st property I viewed. I submitted my bid immediately after viewing & all the paperwork & contract was completed within 2 weeks. I was very pleased with the outcome. Martin & Co made what should have been a stressful assignment so easy. They were professional, quick & very effective. I would not hesitate to recommend Martin & Co to anyone requiring their services.U'cal Henry

Unprofessional Service

I called Jenna 15 Feb to arrange viewing property Burrington Drive, Trentham, property had tenants in till 23rd Feb, i confirmed that i was the 1st caller and would get 1st viewing on Thur 24th Feb, low and behold today is the viewing and my husband calls to confirm only to be told they accepted holding deposit yesterday. I work for a Lettings Company in Stoke and we would never do this, if someone was interested they would wait until the viewing or at least confirm with the viewer that there was someone interested in order to give them the opportunity to pay holding deposit first. I will never recommend them

Best agent we have dealt with

I had a leak in my property on a Saturday evening. Paul from the Wimbledon branch was excellent. He came immediately to investigate and dispatched an emergency plumber to the property who was there within 30 minutes. The leak was fixed instantly. He gave us some morrision's vouchers to compensate for the inconvenience. Great company.

SHEFFIELD...0 STARS UNPROFESSIONAL...TERRIBLE....NEED CUSTOMER SERVICES TRAINING

0 STARS...I'VE JUST READ THROUGH SOME REVIEWS AND IT SEEMS SALES IS FANTASTIC, WHILE WE TENANTS RATE THEM TERRIBLE. WHY IS THAT? RENTAL PROPERTY.....WE pay them for a service, yet the customer service skills are terrible (especially GINA WHYMAN). Whinge, moan, excuses, argue. I worked in the CS field for many years and have never spoken in this way to a customer. Put yourself in their place and get on with it as I did, hence there were no complaints about me. I honestly don't know who employs these people. lol If you complain and state facts, want efficiency (no shouting or swearing), it's seen as being rude. What can I say, the truth hurts. They think they are doing us a favour, not that we're actual customers.

TENANTS BEWARE

Tenants beware. In my experience this agency work for the landlord and the tenant is treated like an inconvenience. I rented a property for three years and although I left the property in compliance with the tenancy agreement I was presented with 65 pages of zoomed in photos outlined in red to suggest otherwise. It was an unfair and extremely unpleasant experience and my deposit was withheld. I hope this review can prevent others from this treatment; when you check out please take lots of photos to show your side of things. If it's like my experience it will not be a fair process. Good luck but stay clear if you can!

NO CONSIDERATION FOR POTENTIAL CLIENTS

Saw a property for rent in Leslie. Contacted their letting agent who informed me that she would send out an application form, pointing out that the property would not be available until start of February AND that those who are in the property were refusing access to it for viewing until they had left.Martin & Co rep was very strict on that and decisive on that. Application forms didn't arrive, despite receiving another promise from them. One day after the forms were due to arrive, we reveived a call from Martin & Co rep, stating that the property was no longer available as it had been rented out......VERY unfair and VERY unprofessional. Absolute disgrace.

0 stars for 0 decency (London)

I would give 0 stars if I could. These agents have 0 decency.I just came back from a supposed viewing. My partner and I agreed to view the property at 6.30 and confirmed with Luke M. via email to meet at the location. We went at the said time and waited for a few minutes. Decided to call them via the phone number that Luke signed his email with. Some other agent answered and asked us for all our information again, then told us to wait while she checks and comes back to us.10 minutes pass without any sign so we call the number again. A 3rd agent answers and asks for all our information AGAIN, then has the audacity to tell us to wait another 10 mins and if no one shows up we can leave. Luckily it was only _raining slightly_ in London this evening. These agents clearly had no idea what was going on. 0 coordination. 0 decency. 0 skill. 0 professionalism.P.S. they never got back to us to even apologise for their mistakes.

Simply Awful

Awful experience from start to finish, with not a single positive to mention throughout our two year tenancy. • They took an absolute lifetime to complete and send across the initial documentation for us to sign to move in to the property. As it took them over a month to send the documents we ended up completing them whilst we were out of the country, in order to ensure our move in wasn’t delayed.• They failed to send across the signed tenancy agreement and documentation for months after we’d moved in, despite us repeatedly chasing them.• At the end of our tenancy they attempted to charge us a full end of tenancy clean costing £100, despite the apartment being tidied thoroughly before we moved out and their own end of tenancy survey stating that the kitchen only needed some “wiping”. We contested it, and agreed to pay a goodwill gesture of £50 to cover any additional cleaning that may have been required. Martin & Co then took the full £100, which then had to be raised with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme. Martin & Co conceded that only £50 had been agreed and that they would refund us the additional £50 they charged. They finally returned it after being chased twice by the TDS over a number of weeks. We lived in the apartment for two years and looked after it like it was our own, so we were very disappointed to have had both Martin & Co and the landlord try and swindle us out of money once we had left the property. Luckily we took plenty of photo and video evidence, so neither had a leg to stand on with their claims.I strongly advise any property owner and renter avoid this company, as they will no doubt give you poor customer service from the start and will try and squeeze every penny they can out of you when you leave them. If you’re in the unfortunate situation of renting with them, I STRONGLY advise you to take pictures and videos of every single thing possible, as they will try and take advantage of you when you leave.
