Just completed a sale with Butcher Residential. I can say they are an open, honest and super efficient estate agent every step of the way. Initially Ian came to do the pictures. I’ve dealt with Butchers for several years, firstly as a management company for my rental property and then later dealing with the sale of it. For the few years they handle the rental, their service was faultless. Ben and Jo in the Penistone office were never too busy to answer my calls or emails and dealt with any and all issues from my tenants swiftly and professionally, often without having to call upon me. The tenants they found were always well vetted and as a result I never had to experience any difficulties as a landlord. For the last 18 month or so, Holly has been managing the sale of my property and again that service has been faultless. Butchers were able to get several viewings and secured sales within a matter of a few weeks of going on the market. The first sale fell through due to a change in circumstances from the buyer but Holly got the property straight back on the market and another sale was secured almost straight away. Holly has been a godsend throughout the whole process and has made an incredibly stressful situation so much easier. She is very knowledgable and professional but more importantly she clearly cares about the people involved in the process and did everything she could and more to get the sale completed. I honestly couldn’t thank Butchers enough. There’s always going to be cheaper options for property management and sales, but with Butchers you’re also paying for a peace of mind and personal approach that only comes from a proper family run firm and they were worth every penny. Moving home is never a walk in the park and this was no different, in actual fact it was more like a marathon where the route kept changing at short notice. From the first meeting with Ian Butcher I had confidence in him as an individual and the philosophy of the company to the point that i cancelled the other agents on day one. As the sale progressed Holly supervised the progress and was constantly in touch with the other parties in the chain and myself to keep me updated. Unfortunately due to the first time buyer withdrawing, the process became protracted although after a few weeks, a new first time buyer took up the opportunity. This of course was like starting from the beginning and created some anxiety for me as i had already purchased in another part of the country. Holly, however kept her finger on the pulse throughout and helped enormously to keep me positive. The team at Butchers were all fully aware of the situation if Holly wasn't available and messages or emails were responded to as soon as was possible. Taking the whole process into account, it went as well as it could have given a chain of 6, but i can say that Butchers have earned their commission on this one. I can now relax and get on with a different life in a different area but estate agents are balancing all aspects of buying and selling for clients every day of the week. I have worked in estate agency and know at first hand how demanding some clients can be & that's both buyers and sellers. I will say that fees are not a good guide of performance. It has always been my view that you get what you pay for. In this case it was quite definately excellent personal service and going the extra mile. Thank you so much to everyone especially to Holly.

Absolutely mind blown that they are requesting £200 of our deposit after almost 5 years in the property. Claiming there is "grease" "everywhere" What constitutes everywhere ? The extractor fan above the hob ? No photo's provided by Butcher's yet by the way. There was no grease "everywhere" at all, and the property had a quick clean before we left as we had purchased our own house and the flat by no means required a deep clean. We were excellent tenants and have had inspections every 6 months while we were there and have never had a single thing raised, If it was in such a state as you claim why was this not raised in December when we had our inspection? Blatant cash grab tactics on tenants when moving to try to push the fee for the obligatory end of tenancy clean onto them. Absolutely Disgraceful.

I honestly didn't realise how much difference a good estate agent makes when you're trying to get solicitors as Mel would say 'singing from the same hym sheet'. From first meeting Ian when he came out to do his valuation it was clear he is brilliant at what he does as well as being a lovely bloke. He had some unique ideas about how he planned to market my property (that nobody else had thought of or suggested) and his enthusiasm & positivity made him stand out way above all the other estate agents. Holly handled the office side of things brilliantly too. She is accessible, efficient, friendly and has a 'can do' attitude.
