Excellent

Annabel and Tara were extremely helpful throughout the whole process from the first viewing to how to proceed next with purchasing the house. They were also very quick in responding to any questions and queries that we had which allowed the whole process of purchasing the house to be as efficient as possible.

Helpful and friendly in these unsure times

Annabel has been exceptionally helpful throughout this process. Not being able to view the property during these times has been really tough (especially as a visual person), but Annabel answered every single question I had, enough to give me confidence to put down a deposit! Excited for the next steps in the buying process.

Great service, highly recommend

Buying a property is both exciting and stressful, so far we have only experienced excitement from Countryside. The show-homes are the best we have seen and are clearly built to a high quality.Dealing with both Justine and Tara has been a joy.Picking finishing touches tomorrow, let the stress begin.

We had a fantastic experience purchasing our first home at The Burrows from start to finish. Lynette, Senel, Carole and Jack were so helpful and accommodating whenever we had any questions regarding the build process or conveyancing. Tara has been brilliant with after care and any problems (even small ones) has been sorted very quickly. Would definitely recommend the build and the process!

Horrific

Horrific. They don't fix issues with homes, their staff are rude and dishonest. Reported an electrical issue constantly since a few months after I moved in and it is still unresolved over five years later. Similar story with a leaking window. Additionally, I got my data from them recently and was able to look over how they treated a report from and myself and another block who had asked for traffic calming measures on a dangerous road corner (to protect children). the staff member had written how it was a "waste of her time" to deal with such queries! Don't know about you but I don't trust any company that doesn't care about child safety!EDIT: NHBC have since written to Countryside about the issue with my window (which was reported within warranty as accepted by the NHBC - and admitted in internal emails sent between countryside staff which I have in my possession). They have failed to reply/attend. Do not buy a home from countryside/Vistry as they will not honour their obligations under the NHBC buildmark policy, you will be left feeling at the brink of despair due to them. Please do not buy from them for your own sake.

If I had the opportunity to give no stars I would. I visited one of your branches to view a property and the lady was very rude to me. She told me properties were not available until December this year meanwhile they were advertising for houses that were available to move in, in June. How rude? Are your houses meant for a certain class of people. Shame on you

Unethical

Beware. Countryside’s website boasts a great deal about Corporate Social Responsibility and ethical practices. Don’t even bother reading their spin. In my development, a flagship regeneration scheme at Silverpoint N18 and built in 2015, Countryside pressured buyers to use Countryside’s own solicitors; their solicitors drafted seriously onerous lease terms which included doubling ground rent provisions. As a final act, Countryside sold the freehold behind the backs of leaseholders to an offshore investment company. I guess because they hadn’t already made enough money from the build. Residents later spent 18 mths and lost sweat and tears battling to change the doubling ground rents (which had made the flats unsellable). Eventually, the terms were changed so that ground rents increase with inflation instead (still onerous, increases for no services provided but just to line the pockets of the faceless directors of an offshore fund). Now we discover that the flats are unsellable (yet again) as they’ve failed all lenders’ EWS1 cert requirements due to timber balconies (roof, decking and walls). The costs of remediation have landed with the leaseholders. Countryside say they were within regulation at the time and have no legal obligation to remedy the fire hazard. Leaseholders can’t sell, can’t re-mortgage, can’t secure a new fixed rate product when our current ones come to an end. That is is the nature of the EWS1. We also can’t afford the thousands (per flat) to rectify the issue. Anybody thinking of buying a Countryside property: run for the mountains, run like the hounds of hell. If, on the remote off-chance, Countryside can see their way to offering us materially useful assistance in this matter, it is my solemn promise that I will update my review. But currently I am feeling quite hopeless about the situation.

SALES ARE GOOD, CUSTOMER SERVICE ARE BAD!!!!

Would have been a hell of a lot less if it wasn't for the sales guys in the marketing suite. We brought our house and completed in October 2022. Granted it being a new build we knew there were going to be some snags within the house (had a small bath leak which was dealt with in days) but since then it has been horrendous. We have had an ongoing issue with our back garden. When we got the plans we was told we would have a slight incline, however turns out we have a massive DIP in the back left of our garden. We have been fighting this since moving in in October and yet the issue still isn't resolved. We have also had issues with our fences being completely different panels and different fence holders (some being wooden and some being concrete) and when asked we was told its because we are private compared to some that we have wood fence holders (absolute rubbish just admit your staff are lazy), and finally regarding our garden we had drainage issues on 2 separate occasions which killed the grass (finally dealt with 3 months later) Now going on to the person who has been dealing with us. Her service is absolutely horrendous. I do not understand how she has managed to become customer service assistant for an aftercare team but her responses within emails are ridiculous. And when I informed her of these ongoing issues that still haven't been resolved and requested some sort of compensation due to how they have dealt with us, I was refused as apparently the company doesn't offer compensation. ABSOLUTLEY SHOCKING!!!!

Really disappointed by Countryside…

Really disappointed by Countryside customer service. We bought a brand new Townhouse at the Assembly, Hounslow and we spent over 650k on it in September 2021. Last year we had a leak from the top bathroom so we called customer service as we are supposed to have a 2 year maintenance to fix any issues linked to the new build. So they sent a plumber, he does not find or look for the rootcause, and they just decorate the impacted ceiling. This month same issue but now they do not even want to fix anything, they are just saying that the sealant has cracked due to the new build movement and that we need to do the change!! I can't believe they send a plumber over and not do the change if that was really the rootcause! Very disappointed and will continue escalate further as this is a poor experience

STOP BUYING COUNTRYSIDE HOUSE

Rubbish company!! If you deserve a better life, don’t buy Countryside house. Our en suite shower door was installed improperly thus makes the shower door cannot be closed completely. I have raised up this problem for over one year and three months! Few months ago, they sent someone to took off the shower door without replacing it. As a family with 5 persons have to share one bathroom, how ridiculous!!I have keep chasing them to follow up, but they just keep ignoring …..

Warning to Potential Buyers!!!!

I regret purchasing my home from Countryside. Initially, everything seems fine, but the problems start after you complete the purchase. The company shows little respect for their customers. I've faced numerous issues that should have been resolved before the handover.Despite claiming to be customer-focused, they don't take you seriously. I've had a sub-floor issue since moving in, reported it early on, and a year later, it's still unresolved. Contractors inspect but blame each other, and no one takes accountability. They closed my case, claiming the floor was within tolerance, advising me to contact NHBC if dissatisfied. An independent survey confirmed the floor was not within tolerance and found other major non-compliances.If you can't back out of your purchase, I strongly recommend an independent survey before moving in. I've been lied to and given empty promises. They handle identical issues for others but try to avoid fixing mine. I've had recurring drainage problems, initially dismissed as a one-off. They clear the blockages but deflect addressing the root cause. If I could turn back time, I would not have bought from Countryside. Consider this a warning if you're thinking about purchasing from them.

Smoke alarm

In late November my and my wife went out for a dinner with friends. We came back a few hours later, around 01 am and we found our smoke alarm somehow triggered. We tried everything to switch it off but nothing worked out as we hoped. As last resort, we called an emergency electrician service in the middle of the night. He came, did something with the smoke alarm we didn't understand clearly and he charged us £754!The smoke alarm went berserk for no reason during our absence from home, there was no smoke, no free fire...nothing!The day after I asked formally for a reimbursement on the ground of the defect in the installation/defective smoke alarm unit installed but the company replied that they could not do anything because the warranty on the flat was expired.True, It was expired...by one week!!!!They also added that, if the official installer would have filed a report where he could state that the alarm was defective, we could have been eligible for reimbursement.I immediately asked Countryside for the installer's phone number and they reluctantly gave it to me after several emails I sent. The installer came to change the alarm and took the old one.A few days later we asked for a report but they denied any responsibility on the ground of expired warranty. After all this very distressing experience I came to a clear conclusion.PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE.Isn't weird that a smoke alarm didn't set off in 2 years and then, suddenly, a few days after the warranty expired it started blaring in the middle of the night with no one at home causing smoke or fire?In his last and closing email, Countryside said textually:- "can be set off by things as dust, small insects that can obstruct the sensor...due to the above we will not be reimbursing money" -I find this outrageous. We did buy this flat because of a number of reasons that led us to believe that this would have been a great place to live but If I only knew how bad, disrespectful and poor their customer service was I would have never bought a single brick from them.

DONT BUY VIA COUNTRYSIDE - SCAMMERS

I bought an apartment vía Countryside. They have dirty selling tactics and are misleading. I was provided a completion date which was delayed over and over though I was only updated with delays after payments were made (reservation fees, solicitors deposits, deposits)A current issue is the incompletion. The property was sold with a green area which was not completed and had no builders working on it for almost 3 months until countryside were advised of this. Now working from home with continuous drilling.Lifts are not fit for purpose. Failure to update purchasers with updated service charge - I can 100% confirm I would not have purchased the apartment if I had been told the service charge would be double the price they provided (almost £3000 for a 1 bedroom?!) They have a referral scheme which they hide. I had friends who also purchased with countryside. I have WRITTEN EVIDENCE that I set up the sale with their sales manager, I set up the viewings and I was even on a group chat. When ever I ask about the referral I am ignored. I have been complaining for months now and they are ignoring me, even the directors of Countryside who are CC’d into the emails are ignoring me. They hid the referral scheme and then tried to say I did not read the terms and conditions of the scheme (though none were ever provided to me as it was hidden for their financial gain off the back of myself) They are now trying to use a poor excuse that the apartment my friends moved into wasn’t part of the scheme. I believe this is a lie and I have requested evidence of the apartments in the scheme at the time and 3 emails later I am still being ignored (including by the directors). They are scammers and money grabbers and not afraid to screw over their own residents for their own financial gain.

Very poor customer service

We have been in our home 5 months. The buying process was a rollercoaster but we got there after several delays and poor communication. On completion day our garden was not finished, although they had rushed us to complete, you’d have thought it would be ready. We waited 9 weeks for the final finish of the garden! Not what we expected. Our initial snag list was 180+ items. Most dealt with fairly swiftly, although some fixes are shoddy and would rather they hadn’t bothered. Our customer care guy came round at the 3/4 month mark to ask us to complete a 4 question questionnaire. He wanted 4 yes’s but got 4 no’s. He promised if we changed to yes he’d have workmen round that day. We naively changed the answers. We did get movement on one of the issues, but several are outstanding. We found out after waiting a few weeks for an update he no longer worked on the site. We’ve since sent several emails to the West Midlands customer care team who haven’t even bothered to acknowledge the emails! There have been way more negatives on this journey of buying our first home than I ever thought possible, and I approached with an open mind to the new build process. Never again, especially not with countryside West Midlands!!!!

Siskin Park

A rubbish experience all round with the Siskin park development. It was a disaster from the very start with changes to our house and constant delays. We hoped everything would get better once we were handed the keys but the house we walked into was not the house we were expecting. These houses are not cheap and the finish is shocking. Initially site seemed as if they cared about our snag list but quickly became unreliable and incompetent. Most of the snags that were done by site were completed to a poor standard therefore are still outstanding. We have multiple snags which were started and are still not completed months down the line. The site manager doesn’t seem to care whatsoever since we have moved in. We had told the site manager that we were unhappy and would be giving a ‘no recommend’ on our NHBC survey and the response was a threat that our house would go down in value if we did so. Management have tried to get away with doing botched jobs on some of our snags to save time and money which isn’t acceptable. We have also tried to contact site management with regards to outstanding work being finished and we have been ignored. We have had a good experience with off-site management from Yorkshire help and the rest of our snags are going to be completed by the aftercare team who, so far, seem extremely helpful. But, unfortunately this does not take away from the terrible experience we have had with site management. We’ve got a week left to complete our NHBC survey and at this point we will not be recommending Siskin Park.
