GoogleWe were disappointed with this service. We were in desperate need of a new home to move into ASAP as we've had health issues with our current one. We scheduled a viewing for a wonderful house 48 hours in advance. We waited and waited for a confirmation email or a call about it, but received nothing. We called 4 or 5 times in total the day prior and on the day of our requested viewing time and it always went to answer machine. We did not go to the viewing as we thought no one would show up. We still received no contact, so our assumptions were probably correct as no one reached out to see where we were. We called a few more times to ask about rescheduling and only ever got the answer machine. All these calls were made at different times of the day so not even as if we were calling on lunch breaks or once the office was shut. They had posted on their facebook page the day before saying they were running as usual in light of the lockdown update. They missed out on us as likely tenants and frankly we wouldn't want to risk having them as agents in future as they've proven difficult to get hold of. Was a shame as the other reviews seem very promising!

TrustpilotIT'S TOO LATE FOR ME SAVE YOURSELF
Where to begin? While I understand that many letting agencies in my area have a poor rep, I honestly believe I would have had a better letting experience signing on with an old blind dog. When we moved into our home it was trashed, litter everywhere, missing doorknobs, and even a pond somewhere in the garden which they could not locate due to overgrowth. We were personally responsible for fixing all of this and making the property livable. Once settled expect a multitude of unannounced visits, and if any issues with the properties appear, rest assured you will be completely and entirely on your own to sort them. Upon moving out, they decided our own clean of the house was insufficient and were charged nearly 400 pounds in cleaning fees, honest I would not have been upset with this bit had it not been for the fact we moved in with the property in a state equitable to a frat house during spring break. Additionally, should you decided to move forward with Martin & Co. (which I cannot disadvise enough) make sure to photograph and document any issues you find, or be prepared to be charged outrageous rates to fix problems you did not create. I promise you, you would be better off in a cardboard box in the street.

TrustpilotWould not recommend at all!
We have had an awful experience with Martin and co and I would NOT recommend. From the start it was impossible to contact a letting agent and we had several changes of agent throughout the tenancy. The energy and water accounts had not been closed and were not closed for a long time when moving in. This made it extremely stressful trying to make a switch and get settled in our new house. Since moving out ( over a month ago) we are yet to receive are deposit back and they have tried to charge us extra including for objects that were never in the property. Since receiving our final deductions email they have tried to email us several more times adding costs that are not on the inventory and were not noticed by the external property inspector who visited our house immediately after we left. I could go on but if you want an easy and swift experience do not use Martin and co. They are very unprofessional and should not be trusted.

TrustpilotI wish there was zero stars option
I wish there was zero stars option! Absolutely awful. I don't know if I should start from the zero support line when you have major faults like no water, a leaking ceiling or a broke dishwasher! And don't even get me started on the theft that begins when you end your tenancy, they rip you off like no other! And when you agree on the amount to be deducted they just think they can play you and send you less than the agreed amount.AVOOOOIIIIDDDDDD!

TrustpilotAbsolutely rubbish as an estate agent
Absolutely rubbish as an estate agent. And have even worse landlords on books. Lived in a house for nearly half a year nothing but issues. And nothing was done. But straight on case if was something that suited them. Nightmare getting bond back after leaving the house in lot better condition then got it. We had freshly decorated. As when moved it house was dirty from top to bottom and drawings all over. Then seen house back up for rent with original pictures on. I honestly feel sorry for the next victim they get in this property. Everyone needs to realise how much they don't care about tenants just money money money. Would highly recommend avoiding them at all costs regardless off your current situation. As it will only be worse by using them as an estate agent. Martin and co as well as landlord should be on a watch list for everyone to avoid. Hope no one has to experience what we did. Also the repairs carried out in the house was terrible. Just AVOID !!!!!!!!!

TrustpilotTried to arrange a viewing
Tried to arrange a viewing. I was told they were trying to organise it with current tenant. However after numerous calls to office, two of which were answered in an unprofessional manner, I received an email which made no sense and contradicted what I was originally told. On following this up and asking for an explanation I received another email which avoided the question. The property mysteriously ‘vanished’ off their website. I can only assume it had been let.I would not recommend this agency.

TrustpilotJust awful lettings agents
Takes months to get anything fixed, hires the least competent people to do it, makes ridiculous claims on your security deposit at the end, and just lets random strangers into your house when you're asleep to do viewings without getting prior permission. They're just awful people who don't care. Try somewhere else, you don't want to put the roof over your head in their hands.

TrustpilotRang to arrange a viewing on a rental
Rang to arrange a viewing on a rental, told the woman on the phone the name of the road the property was located and was met with 'which one? We have a more than one there' now I wouldn't usually take offence but the tone was very abrupt, and if that's the case that they have a few maybe include something on the website that indicates that particular property. I was also promised a ring back with a potential date to view! Never received a call. Guess the property market is booming judging by the attitude over the phone.Shame you cannot rate 0 stars.

Trustpilotwouldnt bother if you actually want somewhere to rent!
I understand it is a busy period for estate agents at the moment but for the last two months the lack of response, help, or just common decency has been shocking if you are looking for a rental I really wouldn't bother, I know they seem to have all the properties in the Kent area but do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! you could have the deposit, first month's rent, and more and probably still wouldn't get an explanation as to why you didn't get the rental you went for.

TrustpilotWorst agency I’ve ever rented through
Worst agency I’ve ever rented through. Rude staff, incredibly incredibly unhelpful. Lost my key from the blocks entrance 3 months ago and I still haven’t been supplied with one, nor has it been mentioned again. Agency sending me aggressive emails, requesting access to the flat for a gas check, claiming they’ve been trying to get access for months, but it’s the first time they contact me with regards to this. Very unprofessional and unorganised! Avoid at all costs!!!

TrustpilotIneffective customer service, exploitative about deposit
Martin and Co have been poor landlords. Other reviews say “For some reason it's acceptable to them to just not reply to your emails?” and “we have logged several maintenance issues all of which have basically been ignored”, this is so true. They refused to show us how to work the heating, or send someone round for this, the entire time we lived in our house - despite our house being on three separate brands of thermostat and even an electrician we called didn't understand the manual. Very long delays responding to requests about simple things like broken dishwasher, drawers, light fittings, blinds etc. We took broken household items to the recycling for them, then they claimed it was "missing" and tried to charge us. We replaced the microwave as the other conked out, requested but never got compensation for that. Having thoroughly cleaned the house prior to leaving, we were given bizarre assertions such as "mattress stained" - we are only lucky that we have clear photographic evidence this is a lie, because otherwise they'd have taken most of the deposit. Assuming the independent deposit company will fall in our favour as we have plenty of evidence.

TrustpilotGreat experience
Martin & Co Bath manages the property we are letting since 2019. They have been very helpful the whole time. Maintenance issues have been addressed promptly. One issue that we are particularly happy with is pets. Martin & Co have been accommodating since the beginning of our tenancy (and thanks to the landlord), and now that we are looking for a new place, they have provided a reference letter regarding our dog, which can make a difference in a lettings market that is still pretty much pets-averse.

TrustpilotBeware of this estate agent
Beware of this estate agent, recently we put an offer on a house and was told that they had multiple offers over the asking price. We decided to put a higher offer in, and it was accepted. We started to have doubts that we had been con to increasing our offer. So we pulled out. 4 weeks a later house is still on for sale. It’s highly unprofessional to lie to buyers to push the price up.

TrustpilotAppalling Custom Service
I have to ask that if they don't want to talk to people who want to rent then don't do it. Every time I speak to Martin & Co it is like they might catch a disease from me. They put the virtual tour of properties online and then insist on you have to go through the same thing with them. Woe betide you if you question this. I simply pointed out that all other agencies arrange viewing immediately. I was arrogantly put in my place and that he would decide who would see the property.Message to Martin & Co; not all renters are unwashed plebs. In fact, most of them are not. It would kind of you not to treat us like it

TrustpilotAvoid like the plague
I just had a call with someone from this organisation and they were so completely and utterly rude - I had to end the call early with the line "Thank you for wasting my time."Their listings NEVER specify if they allow pets (which in all honesty - they DON'T under ANY circumstances) even though they'll lie and say they're "considered".If you enjoy having your time wasted by morons I can't recommend them highly enough. If, however, you value your sanity and time - avoid them like the plague!!

TrustpilotWhat customer service? All in favour of the landlord.
I am shocked and appalled at the so called ‘customer service’ of this company! They have treated us appallingly. We have rented a period property in Falmouth for over 2 years. During the this time we have logged several maintenance issues all of which have basically been ignored. They have ‘lost’ our revised signed inventory log of when we first moved in and are quoting off the blank one stating issues that we need to fix, and pay for ourselves even though this was logged as lost/broken when we first moved in. For example there were no smoke alarms fitted, toilet seats were rusted off and broken, waste pipes were leaking and the garden was so overgrown it did not receive any light. We have spent our own money replacing torn carpets, fitting broken locks to windows, replacing snapped waste pipes and much much more. All because it was logged, never fixed and became too much of a safety issue with 4 children in the house. Our property manager has constantly treated us like tenants who purposely break things. It has all become too much for us. We would rather struggle and move out than continue dealing with this company however with limited family properties in Falmouth we are stuck in a catch 22.

If I could give 0 I would . I rented a flat , 6 months rent up front . The property had no working electric and when I phoned the harborne branch the manager shanti said “what do you want me to do about it” after having no electric all night even though I was told the electric had been checked and was passed . Thier quick to take your money and then rude and unwilling to solve any issues . Shantis attitude is disgusting

TrustpilotGood Service
I went through Martin and Co to find my little cosy flat with my friend for our first place together. Being young we didn’t know much about renting and the whole process however all the staff were happy to help and clarify anything with us. We did have a slight issue with something in the flat before we moved in, however that all got sorted promptly and in time for our move in date. We are very happy in our flat and would like to thank the team at Martin and Co in Bebington for dealing with us.

TrustpilotThis is a review of the 2 people at the…
This is a review of the 2 people at the top of their Derby centre office: the director and the proprietor. Everyone else there -wholesome people.1. Boiler needed reviewing. They sent the technician to just walk in my housemate's room (that's where the boiler is). I happen to catch the technician as he was entering. He explains. After checking with my housemate, I tell him nobody told us anything. He calls the director and immediately you could tell this person thinks he's better than us. Eventually, he's just blaring 'I don't need anyone's permission...just get in there.' The tech tells him about the obstacle and the big man decides to strut over himself to show who's 'in charge,' I imagine. He comes down beating his chest and looking down. After a few exchanges, the obvious is he clearly has no idea of human rights, privacy, decency, professionalism, to say nothing of his arrogance and disrespect. ‘It’s a legal requirement. I don’t need your permission. I only have to give notice’ he goes in the end. Poor thing didn’t realise he put his foot in his mouth because I obviously follow with ‘well, give us notice, then,’ and just looked at him. Oh, he lost it. You could almost see his ego exploding and his face just reddening, steaming and just losing control of itself. To top up my inner laughter but also his own lowliness, he throws over his shoulder from a safe distance ‘this is none of your business.’ Do you guys understand why people like him get like that? Because we f-ing let them! 2. Suddenly, I needed to get out fast, covid times and I found out my housemate was taking no precautions; he was seeing people from all over on a regular basis. The director himself shows me some rooms. I know I was in a pinch, but none of these places were decent enough. Take covid test, move with partner for a while, keep looking. But apparently, that didn't sit well with our good director, cause we were having a phone conversation about it and he clearly believed he was doing me personal favours by doing his job properly, so I tell him that and he f-s me off and hangs up. 3. I bring the previous matter through their complains system. Turns out, the head honcho, says that I by me protecting privacy and demanding respect I was 'blocking and interfering' during the boiler incident and that I'm lying about being f-ed off, treated unprofessionally, disrespectfully and frankly uncautiously, too - what if I had been a vulnerable person, to say nothing of the fact they should have been understanding about my increased risk of getting covid from living with a lunatic. She told me 'I suggest you channel your energy into finding alternative accommodation... I will not be responding to you again on this matter.' also'Please continue your tenancy in a 'tenant like manner' until you vacate.'Therefore, me complaining about their lowly, unprofessional, entitled, pompous behaviour is 'untenantly', ladies and gentlemen. So, according to their complaints policy if I want to take the matter further I have to contact the proprietor. Guess who she was? Indeed, the person who just called me a liar and told me I should go somewhere else. What do you guys think?
