Unfortunately, our experience with Martin & Co has been extremely disappointing from start to finish. When we moved into the property, it was not in a fit or acceptable condition. The house had not been properly cleaned, the flooring was dirty, belongings from previous tenants had been left behind, and there were broken toilet seats and a broken shower. These issues should have been addressed before new tenants were allowed to move in. More recently, we discovered that the property we are currently renting has been sold, something we were never informed of, despite being assured that we would be kept updated on any significant developments. Finding this out independently online was both shocking and distressing. When I contacted the office to query this, the member of staff I spoke to was abrupt, dismissive, and rude, and showed no empathy or willingness to apologise for the lack of communication or the upset caused. Overall, the standard of service, communication, and professionalism we have received has been very poor. I would not recommend Martin & Co based on our experience. Disappointing check-out process and lack of proportionality My experience with Martin & Co at the end of our tenancy was extremely disappointing. Despite returning the property in a condition that was significantly improved from when we moved in (after having to clean and address multiple issues left by previous tenants), the check-out focused on trivial points such as minor lint in the washing machine and safety measures like the water supply being turned off. We provided extensive before-and-after photographic evidence and raised concerns about the condition of the property at the start of the tenancy, but this evidence appeared to be largely disregarded. Several issues raised at check-out were acknowledged as maintenance matters or pre-existing conditions, yet were still presented as potential concerns. Overall, the process felt disproportionate and unnecessarily stressful. I would advise future tenants to document everything very carefully and be prepared to challenge check-out reports if needed.

Since Martin & Co took over management of the property I was renting there was nothing but issues. There were a number of issues in the house which they never responded to or fixed and when chased they claimed it had already been done! At the end of my tenancy I left the house a month prior to the end date as I’d bought a new house. They waited until my keys were handed in to them for the rental property before billing me an obscene amount for an end of tenancy clean (which I’d already carried out) which had they have gotten their act together I could have sorted any issues they may have had prior to dropping the keys off. Not to mention they had shown people around the property and someone had to ‘take a leak’ and left the toilet soiled then attempted to blame myself for it! When they were contacted by phone to discuss the issues the phone was promptly put down when something was said they didn’t like. Absolutely dreadful experience with them. I would never wish the experience I have had with them on anyone so please do avoid them at all costs 🤯

Wish I could rate even lower!! My parents moved in to an over-priced property in Nantwich. After being completely mugged off at the viewing and being told to “have a look round yourself” (do letting agents not show people round houses anymore, no?) they moved in to find the oven, fridge freezer, and hot water didn’t work. The boiler is over 25 years old and hasn’t been serviced for over 10. There is one BROKEN carbon monoxide detector by the boiler, but not by the coal fire in the living room. The maintenance office have been incredibly rude to both of my elderly parents. A few maintenance people have been since, a plumber and electrician, both who have agreed the property is not in a fit state to be let out. The electrician fitted a second WORKING carbon monoxide alarm in the living room opposite the fire. Today, CHRISTMAS DAY. They have woken to find no hot water and their carbon monoxide alarm going off. I have rung the out of hours number on behalf of my parents as my mum had a hip operation on Friday and returned home yesterday. The woman I spoke to barely spoke, offered no sympathy, just asked for my name and number and if I was sure that Martin and co managed it. She said they wouldn’t be able to do anything today... This company are an absolute joke. Avoid at all costs!!

Very upset with the way we are being treated. It has been over 2 weeks since we were told a rental would not go through. Through no fault of our own, landlord is now selling the property. We were advised we would receive a full refund on the deposit we paid. Yet we are still waiting for this. We have called a couple times, to be advised someone would call us back. I don’t want a call back, I want the deposit back. I can not believe during a pandemic, where my partner is furloughed, the staff of Martin and co are dragging there feet like this. It’s a disgusting way to treat customers in any circumstance!

Hardworking key worker thrown out of home under a section 21 for no reason at all. Payed rent to them for 10 years. Just to be thrown out with no time to prepare. Only for them to put the house back on the market for the same rental price. Terrible customer service. Awful to their tennents. And just to add I have two children aswel, lucky enough the council were a big help to find us a property because Martian and co didn’t have an ounce of passion. Spent thousands on our home just to be thrown out like trash

Unfortunately this is completely out of our control. Landlord sold the property and requested notice be served (prior to the Coronavirus emergency). 2 months notice was given.

Not the best company to rent from. My contract was due to be renewed and as I was buying a place to finally get out of the rent trap I asked if I could go on a rolling contract. I was told the owner of the property didn't want to offer that. (Or was it Martin and co didn't want that as they couldn't charge for a new contract) as I had been living there a couple of years I got to know the neighbor's and as it turns out the knew the owner of the property I was renting through Martin and co and they thought it was out of character for him not to offer a rolling contract to us as we kept the place clean and always payed the rent on time.. they could of been fair to me as I didn't want a 6 month contract when I was moving in 3 months. Also if you rent from them and your contract is due to be renewed and they want to up the rent price question this with them and ask why they want to charge more dont just agree to it as it is just greed on there behalf. Would I rent from them again? No. Would i recommend them? No. You have been warned

Appalling customer service, property manager seems to think its acceptable for the us, the current tenants, to remove dirty old chewing gum left by previous tenants on our own behalf even when this unhygienic and disgusting gum is in my newborn son's room. I have been forced into trying to attain a meeting with their managing director. Absolutely vile, especially after being conned into paying extra cleaning costs at our old property for issues that were already on the check in inventory. Dispicable company do not use!

Hands down the worst Estate Agents I’ve ever dealt with. Customer Service is non existent. Unresponsive to emails and calls. Would definitely not recommend

Hi Elisha, I am sorry to hear of your experience. Whilst we have had an exceptionally busy, in fact record, month on letting available properties, and cannot always help everybody,, I would expect you to get responses to any enquiries, unless we made it clear that we were unable to be of further assistance. If you would care to PM me with any further details I would be glad to look into this for you.
