I purchased a property at a recent Birmingham & Black Country Auction House sale. The auction house provided plenty of access to the property prior to the auction to enable us to guage the refurbishment work required. The legal pack was updated in time for me to review and understand the commitments of the contract and establish my ceiling price.Prior to the auction, I spoke to a member of staff at Auction House and they were helpful in pointing me in the right direction for answers to my questions.Whilst not new to the auction process, I have bought from other auction houses this was the first time I was intending to bid virtually/online. The registration process was quick and easy. At the beginning of the auction the auctioneer clearly set out what would be happening and that he would provide time for bids to be made both via the internet and telephone. He also reminded us to follow that 'Homes under the Hammer' golden rule of reading the legal pack before bidding. A mistake I have made in the past, when going to an auction with a hunger to buy! I will call that my fees for educating myself.As a property investor, I would definitely buy at auction again and I would have no hesitation of buying at an Auction House Birmingham sale.

We are really disappointed and sorry to hear that you felt mislead however this is certainly not how we conduct our business. Whilst we 'represent' the seller, we also provide extremely high levels of support and guidance to all buyers - as evidenced across our Trustpilot reviews from buyers of all experience levels. Our listing pages where we advertise the property share as much information as is made available to us. Due to the fast time scales of auction sales, sometimes last minute information is provided (which is always shared with registered bidders). We also strongly advise all bidders to download and carefully review the legal pack before bidding, as once the gavel falls, contracts are exchanged, and the purchase is legally binding.Our records and audit trails do show that you didn't read the legal pack prior to bidding on the property that you subsequently purchased. This meant that you missed critical information that would’ve enabled you to make an informed decision before choosing to bid. I hope this information helps explain why you felt you had been misled/misinformed and the importance of downloading and reading legal packs prior to purchasing a property at auction.
