They lose your rental paymentsHas happened to me on numerous occasions but the latest one is incredible absolute nonsense Paid rent over phone, they then sent email to me confirming payment, then they chase you up for that payment for the next 3 months?Over the last 3 months have sent them the confirmation email sent by themselves and bank statements showing proof of payment yet they are still threatening me with court action for money they have had?And trying to get this sorted, which is not my fault, has been pathetic as they just don’t respond Any help on here would be much obliged

TrustpilotTerrible experience
Terrible experience. Poor communication, didn't care about the buyer's experience at all. Hoping that the next home we purchase won't be through Connells, Welwyn Garden City. Definitely won't be using them to sell our property. Absolutely disastrous experience. Given it's probably the most expensive purchase anyone is likely to make, you'd think the level of service would be better. Avoid this agency at all costs!

Connells Estate Agents are absolutely useless Numerous last minute viewings and cancelled viewings We have been very accommodating towards Flat with no maintenance charge and no ground rent with garage 10 minute walk away from Watford junction Has been on the market since January We got offer on our flat on 28/09/2021 which we accepted Found a 2 bed property we liked Put few offers in last 2 weeks so Connells were contacted in last 2 weeks by 2 different estate agents Our offer got accepted just for Connells to let us know yesterday that they haven’t actually heard from our buyer and she disappeared…Like seriously?! We’ve secured a property not even within 2 months You’ve been contacted 2x in last 2 weeks and you didn’t know that our buyer wasn’t in touch with you for 2 weeks?! What are you doing?! Not following up on your emails?! How professional is that?!

TrustpilotCan not be trusted
Connells in bearwood sold a house to me a year ago that was valued by a lady named Shannon Uppal, on the assumption that there was no damage to the property. However, there is a very severe leak arising from the upstairs en-suite that has now caused considerable damage to the ground floor ceiling, which I will have to repair. I contacted Connells twice and they have completely dismissed my emails and phone calls.

TrustpilotAvoid Using Connells
I am joining the other disillusioned landlords that will never use the lettings services of Connells again. Landlords pay Connells to manage their properties and Connells takes 12.85% of the rental income for their "services". However, their behaviour is to represent the interests of the tenant, rather than that of the landlord that appointed them and pays them. Connells placed a "tenant" in my property (a company called Marine Fabrications and Engineering Ltd), but got no personal guarantees from any of the directors for payment of the rent. The company illegally used my property as an HMO and had 4 separate individuals living in the 4 bedrooms, when only 2 are allowed by law and per the signed rental agreement. Connells never inspected the property, and only did an inspection in month 10 of the tenancy after I insisted they do so. I requested the inspection when my contractor reported that the property is being used as an HMO after he accessed the house to fix a window that was damaged by the tenants. The rent was in arrears for most of the tenancy. Connells incorrectly refunded the tenant £560.07, when this rent was due to me. The tenants breached numerous clauses of the rental agreement for the entire period, including smoking in the property, not keeping the outdoor spaces tidy, not airing the house thereby causing damp in numerous rooms, putting nails in the walls, sticking posters to the walls, screwing hooks into doors etc. The repairs and cleaning services exceed the deposit, which I am claiming. Connells states I am entitled to only a small portion of the deposit which will leave most of the damaged areas unrepaired, and dirty.

TrustpilotIncompetent Immoral Imbeciles.
Incompetent Immoral Imbeciles. The advice is never to use this company for either managing properties or as an estate agent, they are complete Incompetent, Immoral Imbeciles. As a landlord they have cost me thousands. They lost the tenancy agreement, the check in inventory and the keys.Due diligence, care and professionalism are not in the dictionary at connells.Without your sanction they will sub-contract works they deem necessary to another connells company, who sub- contract to another connells company, who sub contract to a local supplier. You are then advised by a company you have never heard of that you have been charged for the privilege! People correspond with you from a different company name then claim to work for connells.Connells have now repaid for the works charged plus legal costs, but only after they gave me the run around and protracted correspondence between different ‘companies’ ending in small claims court. The only ‘Excellence’ they have is in incompetency, is this what they claim when providing training to employees? Both the tenant and myself had been lied to by the local branch with the return of the keys resulting in days of delay and additional cost, I am well rid of this company.Their performance is so bad I have also stopped looking at any properties they market, I would not buy through them if they were the last agent on the planet. If this is the ‘best possible service’ they all need to retire.

Worst company to sell a property with. They have extremely poor communication. Never reply to any emails. Everytime we phone them the person we want to speak with is all always conveniently out the office.. they never tell you the truth with what's happening with your sell of your property instead they make up lies to try and bide them more time.

TrustpilotRubbish service
I was told that Connells is a great lettings agency, however I was very disappointed with their service.I first got in touch with Connells regarding the property that I have seen on right movie. I was sold a dream and not the reality buy them. The property advertised doesn't look like the photos. As well I was told that the internet for the property supports all the internet providers. However the reality is completely different. I have tried to get the internet installed at the property to find out two weeks later of waiting for the live day to take place that the internet cant be installed due to not having a supporting line for it. Connells shouldn't advertise the property and say that its all good and the property looks like pictures when it doesn't. As a lettings agency its their responsibility to make sure that the photos match the reality.I can say for sure that Connells has never visited the property and has no idea how it looks like or what state it is in and yet they are advertising it as a dream. Very disappointed and will never deal with Connells again. I suggest you all do the same unless you are willing to accept a crappy and uncleaned place.

TrustpilotHorrendous company
Horrendous company - do not use!!! Needed them to do a survey on one of our properties for remortgage purposes. They valued a large 3 bedroom flat in a nice quiet area at £0. Not because there was anything actually wrong with the property but because the surveyor decided people might not want to buy in that area. Again, a nice quiet wee street beside a local school and Tesco etc. When I phoned Connells to question this I was told the surveyor refused to explain or discuss it further. This ridiculous attempt to survey a property has created a huge amount of stress and worry, and their inability to take responsibility for their actions demonstrates their utter incompetence. After looking through the reviews I now see that many others have also had shocking experiences with their valuation services.Absolutely appalled. I can only warn others to stay away. And if you are using a lender who use Connells, you might want to find another lender!

TrustpilotI would never use this agent again
I would never use this agent again. I have used a number of agents over the…I have used a number of agents over the last 20 years for my rental properties and I have learned the hard way not to use corporate letting agents. You get passed from one department to another. There are endless mistakes and incompetencies. I’ve had many different account managers as there is a high turnover of staff. They promise things will be done and they aren’t you chase them they promise things will be done again they don’t you have to chase them againOne example of many is that I have been trying to get a rental payment from the landlord insurance policy I took out with The agent. After three months nothing had happened. I chased it up and the branch had not returned the claim form. I then wrote a formal complaint. I assumed it would be sorted. One month later it still hasn’t been actioned. They also use local contractors who have to pay a commission to the letting agents so you will be paying a higher amount than if you found your own contractor. They definitely put their own interest above that of the landlord.I have also been told that they no longer hold the keys for my property when I know they are there. This is one of the very basics that you would think that our local letting agent and hold the keys especially when the landlord lives over 200 miles away. When I did visit the branch I was quite surprised at the lack of local knowledge of the area considering they’re meant to be property experts. I would never use this company again.

TrustpilotConnells Surveyors Leeds
Had a terrible experience with Connell's Surveyors purchasing a flat. The root of the problem was the lack of communication throughout. Refused to give a valuation, then after much follow up managed to secure a homebuyer's valuation but they still at that point wouldn't give a mortgage valuation. Based on the evidence required they should have either been giving both or none i.e. how could they value it for me if the property couldn't be mortgaged. I explained this but it was a brick wall. DO NOT USE.

TrustpilotSoul & Financially Destroying 6-month…
Soul & Financially Destroying 6-month experience.Renting a 5-Bed country property at over £1500 per month - our dream home was ruined by the double-handed, Lies, Incompetence and outright negligence at the hands of Connells and its attitude towards its clients.Structured as a Pyramid Franchise - all issues, of which you will have MANY are outsourced to their central Liverpool customer care team, who are consistently abysmal at every stage of the rental process, slow to respond with any local issues you will encounter and deceitfully flip utility providers without having prior consent (which could lead to a number of serious problems including, poor credit rating)Even staff in their local office, knowingly admit its company values are adverse to its clients those also reflect internally - I personally noted 2 key members of staff leave the company within a short timeframe.Every matter is concluded in Connell's favour, working lockstep with their 'contractors' who overcharge for the most basic work. Please take this warning, read all the comments below and AVOID at all costs, protect yourself your FAMILY, ASSESTS and SOUL from despair and financial loss. This estate agency seriously needs investigating for its conduct and crooked practices.

TrustpilotCustomer service training needed
I had the misfortune to have to talk to someone from this company, I can only say that their customer service training needs a complete rethink. I am selling my house so the survey was on behalf of the buyers mortgage company, and I have no fault to find with the gentleman who came to my house. I don’t even feel I can give the person I spoke to at Connells the title of ‘Gentleman’ because he was far from it. I came home to find a that I had missed two phone calls, I rang the office admitting that I’d missed the phone calls only to be met with the comment “ oh we thought you were trying to avoid us, most people do”. When I told him that I’d been on holiday he replied “well I suppose that is allowed”. He then told me what I was expected to do when the surveyor arrived, no question as to whether I would be able cope with the requirements. If I ever need to employ the services of a surveying company I would certainly make sure that I would not employ Connells

TrustpilotAvoid at all costs !
So we decided to go with Connells to sell our house, as the lady that initially came out was lovely and made us feel confident to go ahead and put our house of 26years on the market. After that time, it went downhill, once the house was sold, Paige who had been given our case to proceed with, never seem interested, had to be chased for everything, gave us no information unless we had to ask for it. Even when we dropped the keys off, there was no "good luck" or effort made to be pleasant. Also the PPL converancing that they recommend i wouldnt touch...nightmare. My best advice, would be to avoid !

TrustpilotUseless Mortgage Advisor
I put an offer down on a property back in March and Connells insisted that for the offer to be accepted and for a “quick sale” (even though it took about 5 months from putting the offer down to completion) I would have to use their in-house mortgage advisor. So I agreed to use their mortgage advisor who was completely useless. He couldn’t even find me a mortgage and said it was because I didn’t have a good enough credit score. I did my own credit check through Experian and my credit score was excellent. So, to cut a long story short, I went through my own bank in the end and they gave me mortgage offer within days. If you do put an offer down on a property marketed by Connells, DON’T agree to use their mortgage advisor. It’s a waste of time and put us back about 2 weeks!

TrustpilotRemortgaging to borrow for a loft…
Remortgaging to borrow for a loft conversion of 3 bed semi in Aldershot. Passed all affordability and credit checks - bank sent out someone from this firm who was in the house all of 5 minutes. Next door neighbour with identical property and vastly smaller garden (1/3 of size of ours) sold 2 weeks ago for £350K. Our valuation by these people - £340K. We have a garden office, an extra off road parking space (3 in total), planning permission for a 1 storey extension 4m x 7m and the extra garden area. Looking at other similar houses in the same area £390K was the average. The Connells agent was advised of all of this and did not impart this information to the bank. £370K was what would have been my lowest estimate based on the recent sale next door, but how on earth did they go lower?! This means a higher LTV and more interest. I have challenged this with the bank, but the stress and infuriation that they failed to act professionally, did no research apart from looking at property sales from 10 years ago and submitted an inaccurate/incomplete report to the bank leads me to question their competence. I would not recommend any bank uses them.

TrustpilotUnder Valuing Houses!!!
Paid over £800 in valuation fees and the surveyor has under valued both properties, all other houses on both new build sites have been valued at the sale price. The properties that have been used for comparison are nothing like the new build and the increase in current house prices has not been taken into consideration. We are first time buyers and had a horrible experience because of Connells. They have no procedure to make a proper complaint, I was given three different phone numbers to be told there’s nothing they can do, eventually was given an email address. Will be reporting to RICS if this doesn’t get sorted.

Trustpilotrather not
New to the property market, so contacting different estate agents, one of them Connells. First called a branch nearby, got promised they pass on my number to the responsible colleagues to give me a call back, nothing happened. Reached out via email, nothing happened. Saw a very interesting property and contacted them via a website to arrange a viewing only to receive quite a short email requesting me to call them back (they did have all my details so could have just phoned me). Anyway called the number they gave me, the person who sent the email answered, I introduced myself and said what property it is about. She firstly didn't have a clue what was going on, pretended the phone line was bad, took my number and promised me to call me back right away. And she didn't, no call the whole day or the following. Not sure how they make any business, as according to other reviews, this seems to be pretty standard. Totally different experience with other estate agents so far and will definitely pick them over Connells anytime, sadly might miss out on a dream flat, but will certainly avoid more stress and banging my head against the wall.
