GoogleVisited a property advertised by them (14 Cambridge Road, SG8), offered them the asking price upfront, and assumed that would be that. What you're not told prior to the viewing, is that you will simply be given the opportunity to interview with the Landlord.
Even offering them the full amount up front without negotiation, they'll make you wait for weeks leading you on, blaming the Landlord for making them wait for weeks, even though they claim the Landlord gets back to them in 20 minutes.
Understand this, if you are not British, in not so many words, you will be systematically discriminated against, do not waste your time with a viewing, you'll just be denied the interview with the Landlord and have your time and money wasted.
Edit for the response, complete inconsistency from the events, just another estate agent constantly lying, not the first, won't be the last.

Dear James Smith, we understand that this must have been frustrating for you, but ultimately, the decision on who to accept at a property is the landlords. As an independent agent, we work closely with our landlords to ensure that all prospective tenants are a good match for their properties. Our pre-qualifying questions to all enquirers, mean that all viewers are potentially suitable and in a financial position to take properties. As with all agents, applying for a property is not necessarily a guarantee of being accepted. We appreciate it’s a competitive market for tenants and we do our best to be as transparent as possible, including about any delays, and in this instance, the landlord asked for further viewings to be carried out, which we relayed to you. He is usually good at responding but happened to be abroad which we were not aware of. To be clear, no applicants were asked to meet the landlord, had this been the case, you would have been offered the opportunity too. Meeting the landlord is not a standard procedure and happens infrequently depending on their preference. No monies were asked for in advance, and I probably explained during the viewing, that a holding deposit would only be needed at the point that application forms were sent out. We would like to reassure you that as a company, any form of discrimination is absolutely not tolerated. If you would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to call us directly. GoogleThe Letting Centre were our first point of contact during our tenancy and liaised with our landlord for us whenever we had maintenance issues. They made our tenancy a breeze, they were always on call to respond to any queries and they respond quickly to emails. White goods were supplied with our property. Within the first year of our tenancy, the fridge-freezer and shower stopped working and they were promptly replaced or fixed, as was the washing machine and cooker when they needed to be.
We once locked ourselves out at the weekend and they promptly came with spare keys to let us into the property
I'd thoroughly recommend them to other potential tenants in the Cambridge area

We had a few issues with the property we were in, with each time always being dealt with promptly and efficiently.
All the staff were really friendly and they always made us feel as if they cared for us as individual tenants, as opposed to “one of the masses”.
