GoogleVery bad experience buying with this estate agent.
To clarify we were buying through co-ownership and we have everything sorted approved and ready to buy. Also first time buyers.
We found a property with this estate agent that we loved. We asked on the phone and during the viewing if this property was suitable for co-ownership. Fred (the estate agent) told us that it shouldn't be a problem and that he couldn't see an issue. He checked the electric box and again said that this property shouldn't be a problem for co-ownership.
We put in an offer for the asking price.
One day later a counter offer is made.
We countered that offer.
It was at this point that we received a call from them. In the call it was stated that they have had a conversation with Fred. And he has decided that this property wouldn't be suitable for co-ownership despite them being enthusiastic about the offer. When asked why they had decided this now, after telling us everything should be ok, they simply reiterated that they feel the electrics in the house would need updating which the owner is unwilling to do and that they are sorry but we don't feel co-ownership is an option here.
During this process the estate agent never once contacted us. We had to phone them to find out that we had been outbid. In fact we had to contact them to find out any information on what was happening during this process.
We were never given the opportunity for a valuation and told outright that we aren't suitable.
