GoogleCaution ! Prevent rent any property from this company at all cost!
The property was flooded with water and the Ceiling was collapsed seriously at 2 o’clock morning . They said they cannot do anything, but let the landlord to cleanup the mess only.
Since, I requested to terminate the contract FACE To FACE, and requested for compensation for my rent. I need to live in a hotel for few weeks , until I find another place to rent, because it’s too dangerous to live.
Now they keep asking for rent and not returning my deposit.
They also tell lies about the ceiling was under repair, but I found out they do nothing about the repair after 19 days gone, it is an excuse trying to ignore my contract termination requested.
They are not trustable!

GoogleHuddersfield Lettings has caused me significant distress, and I strongly recommend avoiding them. Not only are their staff consistently rude and unprofessional, but they have also been blatantly dishonest on multiple occasions. They falsely claimed there was damage to the property and misled me into holding onto the keys, all the while charging rent for that period without informing me. This property was my mum's rental home, and I was trying to manage everything after her passing. Their actions during such a challenging time were not just unprofessional but utterly insensitive and lacking compassion. A lettings company should provide support and transparency, especially in delicate situations, but Huddersfield Lettings failed miserably on both counts. I urge anyone considering their services to think carefully before proceeding.

We’re truly sorry to hear you’ve had a distressing experience, especially during such a difficult time. Please know we acted in line with the tenancy agreement and communicated all charges and findings with supporting evidence. Unfortunately we weren't contacted by yourselves until two working days before you were able to drop the keys off, so I'm not sure how you have been misled by any staff from the Agency - we simply agreed to your availability, given the situation.
As per legal requirements, we are unable to release a deposit to a family member upon request, regardless of their intentions. We clearly explained the process to be followed through the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS), including how to raise a dispute if you were not satisfied with the legally compliant procedure we are obliged to follow. We understand there may have been urgency on your side, but our role is to act within the law, this does not make us unprofessional or insensitive, simply compliant with our legal responsibilities.
We understand that emotions can run high in sensitive situations, and we're sorry if you felt unsupported. However, we also had a duty to support the landlord too, who was uncomfortable with the direct contact from yourselves. Once we raised this with you, you requested that the agency no longer contact you. We remain happy to discuss the matter further if you wish to clarify anything.

GoogleAvoid Huddersfield Sales and Lettings: A Terrible Experience
I strongly advise against dealing with Huddersfield Sales and Lettings, especially if you value fair treatment, professionalism, and your mental well-being. My experience as a tenant in Flat 3, 85 Bradford Road, Huddersfield (HG16 DZ) has been nothing short of distressing, and I feel compelled to warn others.
1. False Promises and Misrepresentation
From the start, I was misled. The property was in terrible condition, the entrance was filthy, smelled of smoke, and poorly maintained. I was assured that the property would be cleaned and repaired before my move-in, including replacing the carpets and addressing issues like the broken door lock. None of this was done. When I moved in, I found the apartment dirty, forcing me to spend my own money and time cleaning it. Despite my complaints and emails with photographic evidence, I never received an apology or acknowledgment.
2. Noise and Unsafe Environment
I asked specifically if the property was quiet, as I value peace, and I was told there were no noise complaints. This was a blatant lie. Shortly after moving in, I discovered that a tenant in Flat 4 was causing constant disturbances, including loud fights with his girlfriend, banging on walls and floors, and making the entire building shake. Despite repeated complaints from myself and other tenants (including emails, videos, and reports to the agency), nothing was done.
The agency claimed they were pursuing “legal action” to evict the tenant, but he remained there throughout my tenancy, continuing to cause chaos. His behavior was so threatening that I felt unsafe in my own home, and at one point, he even targeted me for reporting him to the police. The agency ignored my requests to relocate me, despite the severe impact this had on my mental health and well-being.
3. Failure to Address Complaints
The agency’s lack of action was appalling. Despite the police being involved and numerous reports from tenants, they did nothing to resolve the situation. Their neglect caused me immense stress, sleepless nights, and ultimately cost me my job because I was unable to work effectively from home due to the constant disturbances.
4. Breach of Agreement and Deposit Issues
I informed the agency in October 2024 that I would not be renewing my tenancy, and I confirmed in November 2024 that I would be leaving in January 2025. My tenancy agreement ended on the 18th of January 2025, and I vacated the property on the 17th of January as agreed. However, the agency is now attempting to charge me for rent until the 30th of January, claiming I owe them £197 for a period during which I was no longer living there.
Additionally, I withheld £200 from my final rent payment as compensation for the months of distress and their failure to address any of the issues I faced. Now, they are attempting to deduct a total of £397 from my deposit, which is completely unjustified. I have all the evidence to prove my claims, including emails and written acknowledgments, yet they continue to act unfairly.
5. Lack of Compassion and Professionalism
The director of Huddersfield Sales and Lettings, has shown no empathy or understanding. Instead of addressing my concerns or resolving the issues, she has consistently dismissed my complaints. Her behavior reflects a complete lack of respect for tenants, and she seems to believe she can treat people however she likes, even when breaking the law.
Final Thoughts
Huddersfield Sales and Lettings is the worst agency I have ever dealt with. They are unprofessional, dishonest, and neglectful. Their failure to maintain the property, address tenant complaints, or return deposits fairly is unacceptable. I am fighting for compensation for the harm they caused me, and I will ensure my voice is heard.
If you are considering renting from them, think twice. My experience has been a nightmare, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Please avoid them at all costs.

1. Property Condition: You viewed the property in person and chose to proceed. It’s surprising you describe the conditions as unliveable when the decision to move in was yours. Regarding carpets, no assurance was made to replace something that doesn’t exist in your flat. We’re not currently offering VR viewings for you to have been “misled” on a physical viewing of a property.
2. Noise and Environment: We acted within legal protocols and worked with the authorities regarding the neighbouring tenant. Legal processes take time, but we always comply with regulations (to all future landlords, please take this as assurance we act in a professional and legal manner, when faced with dealing with tenants such as Mr Charles included). For a quieter environment, we recommend considering a detached house in future rather than shared accommodation.
3. Complaint Handling: While we empathise with your dissatisfaction, it’s evident that neither the Police nor we could meet your demands as neither party are willing to act unlawfully to suit your preferences. I can see from your previous reviews; you have left negative reviews for two previous employers/recruitment agencies, there seems to be a pattern here with yourself and recruiters. This does unfortunately reflect broader challenges beyond this tenancy, so I don’t believe the letting agency can be blamed for your employment matters.
4. Tenancy and Deposit Matters: Regarding your tenancy agreement and the deductions from your deposit, we operate within the guidelines of the tenancy agreement and legal requirements and unfortunately, we don’t go against these guidelines for any one tenant. Again, for any future tenants and landlords, rest assured I don’t break the rules for a tenant trying to persecute me to his demands, so you’re safe with me.
5. Professionalism and Support: As a director, I operate lawfully and will not be pressured into unlawful actions. I am confident this review highlights our professionalism, and I remain committed to welcoming respectful tenants and landlords into our properties.
