Recently purchased a property through this branch of Screetons and had really disappointing service. From the start they didn’t seem motivated to sell the property at all and handled the offer process very poorly. The offer hadn’t even been put forward (was later accepted so was reasonable), we had to chase for this to be put to the vendor and then chase for a response. They then gave numerous false information down the line presumably to keep the purchase going and would answer questions about the property when they didn’t know the true answer - one being in relation to a gas appliance which is a safety aspect. I’d asked them to listen to their calls as it was unfair to be working this way and they responded that they aren’t recorded so I would assume that they choose to be deceiving quite often. At no point was any responsibility taken, they simply say ‘it is what it is.’ They were aware that a lone and older gentlemen was moving into the property a week before Christmas and these lies had an adverse effect on him which is far from decent nevermind a provided service. Nobody bothered with the keys being handed over - they didn’t even chase the solicitors, they just ‘wondered’ when they’d be released… despite them being ready to go. The staff here are either slack, careless or conniving in our experience. We wouldn’t ever buy or sell through this agent again but I would hate for someone else to have such a bad experience using them.

We are extremely disappointed that you have chosen to leave this review, particularly when a full, detailed, response in relation to your issues had been sent to you by email back in January. We don’t agree with your summary of your experience, if anything we felt we had a good relationship with you throughout your father’s property purchase and always had good communication with you, and you never expressed any dissatisfaction with our service during this time. It was only after completion took place and you experienced a few issues at the property that your view changed.

This reply is for the benefit of any genuine customers reading this review, as it is not strictly true and it's only fair that future customers have the full version of events. I have called Miss Fox after receiving this potentially damaging 1 star rating to discuss this. We carried out a valuation on 14th March at 11am, the customer wasn't present due to work commitments and a friend let us in. We received a call from Miss Fox after the appointment and we advised that a valuation email would be sent to her that afternoon. At 3.53pm that same day, a valuation email was sent to her and a carbon copy luckily saves to our database to show this. We had no call/message or email that afternoon from Miss Fox to say that it hadn't arrived, nor did we have a bounce back email so we assumed it had been received. Early that evening Miss Foxs' property appeared on rightmove with an alternative estate agent with a full set of photographs (hours after our valuation). Miss Fox tells us that she couldn't call us to say she hadn't received the email as we were closed and put her house on the market with the other agent who had taken photographs the day before. We wish you all the best with the sale of your property Miss Fox.
