Fox & Sons Hastings..

Fox & Sons Hastings... clownsWhere to start with these clowns. Appointed them to sell building land. They took photos of someone else's land that was no where near the property and I had to correct them before they published. In the odd 6-7 months they were marketing, they got a sale, but I barely received any updates unless I phoned them. They never responded to any emails and told me they never received them when I challenged them... ok then, even though I copied three of them every time.When I phoned it went to answer machine sometimes and nobody ever called back or if someone did answer, they would tell me they'd pass on a message, but still never called back. We had a sale at this point, but the builder was messing about. I decided to write a final demand email, so looked on line for the managers email address and low and behold... I've been emailing him all along, Daniel Cotterill. He's a partner and if he cannot be bothered to respond, what chance do you have. I phoned again for the last time before removing them and he answered the phone (caught him) and told him he had two weeks to get the contracts exchanged or they were getting kicked off.Two weeks passed and nothing, so I phoned them again the day before and spoke to someone else, left a message, but still no response/call back. They were dropped three days ago and I sent a scathing email to Fox and Sons Hastings, their head office, backers and IT team. No response, there's a surprise. Don't do it. Do not use these chancers at any cost. They will try to pull you in on an overpriced deal just to get you on the books. Pay more for a better service elsewhere, which to be honest will be everywhere else.Daniel Cotterill... you and your team are a discrace to the industry. How Fox & Sons Hastings are still trading is beyond me and I would put money on this sloppy outfit being out of business within 2 years.

IF ONCE YOU HAVE READ THIS REVIEW AND YOU GO ON TO USE FOX AND SONS ESTATE AGENTS TO LET YOUR PROPERTY ON YOUR HEAD BE IT.I HAVE LET MY PROPERTY THROUGH THIS COMPANY DEALING WITH THE YEOVIL BRANCH AND NOW LEFT FACING A £15,000.00 BILL TO GET OUT A TENANT WHO FALSIFIED EMPLOYMENT RECORDS AND CREDIT REFERENCE. ALL CHECKED SUPPOSEDLY THROUGH THEIR TANANT REFERENCING COMPANY WHO THEY CLAIM IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM BUT THEY ARE ALL 1 OF THE SAME. THEY ALSO CLAIM TALKING TO ANY BRANCH ACROSS THE COUNTRY THAT THEY ARE 1 OF THE BEST REFERENCING COMPAINIES IN THE BUSINESS, IT WAS CONFIRMED TO ME TODAY OVER THE PHONE FROM THEIR TENANT REFERENCING COMPANY (TLC) THAT IT IS EASY TO FALSIFY REFERENCES AS ITS ALL DONE BY EMAIL. WHEN I POINT OUT THAT ANYONE COULD MAKE UP AN EMAIL ADDRESS TO SAY THEY ARE A LANDLORD OR THEY EMPLOY THIS PERSON AND PAY HIM X AMOUNT THE PERSON ON THE PHONE FROM TLC AGREED. I HAVE RAISED COMPLAINTS WITH THEM VIA THEIR SYSTEMS AS REQUESTED BUT NO ONE FROM FOX AND SONS OR TLC WANT TO KNOW, I ASKED POLITELY FOR HELP BUT THEY JUST MADE ME WAIT LENGTHY PERIODS BEFORE REPLYING AND THEN BASICALLY JUST SAID THE REFERENCES LOOKED FINE TO THEM, I CARRIED OUT A FEW CHECKS MYSELF USING GOOGLE AND MY PHONE AND LOOKING AT THE TENANTS FAKE WORK REFERENCE AND FOUND OUT INFORMATION ABOUT HIM EASILY. IF I AM LUCKY THE FINAL BILL FOR UNPAID RENT AND COURT AND SOLICITORS FEES WILL BE AROUND £15,000 BUT WILL NOT BE SUPRISESED IF IT IS MORE. ITS A LONG SORRY STORY AND I HAVE NOT MENTIONED THE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS AND THE ANXIETY THAT I AM NOW SUFFERING LET ALONE THE FINANCIAL LOSS. SO BEWARE AND TAKE HEED THERE WILL BE NOTHING BUT TURNED BACKS ONCE THINGS GO WRONG AND IT IS EASIER AND CHEAPER AND MOST OF ALL SAFER TO FIND YOUR OWN TENANT BY DOING A FEW SIMPLE CHECKS WITH CREDIT AGENCIES AND GOOGLE AND TALKING TO THE TENANT YOURSELF. I WOULD NEVER GO NEAR THEM AGAIN THEY ARE DISGRACEFUL.

Gosport branch to avoid

Avoid the Gosport branch! What a terrible experience. I would score 0 but I can't.We paid for a property rental service and they did nothing for the duration. After leaving that service it appears that the tenant never got conclusion to a couple of issues over months and us as the landlord never received the full information and nor did be receive closure of some maintenance activity which drifted over months.Very poor communication, almost no-one answers the phone or respond to messages. They don't care about their service provision (to the tenant and the landlord).Avoid!!! We should have realised when the smarmy agent viewed the property in their shiny suit and gave a lot of sales chat. We chose them on the figures but in the end we appeared to be throwing them money for nothing in return.

Not even a congratulations or enjoy your new home.

I recently purchased a property with Fox & Sons in Hayward’s Heath and the service was poor. Firstly after enquiring online a number of times to view a property no one returned my calls or emails. My mother called and was lucky enough to finally book a viewing. The viewing went smoothly and the lady who carried out the viewing was good. During the purchasing process the updates from the agent was little to none, the seller and I spoke between ourselves to resolve any matters. On the day of completion no call or email was received from the office and on collection of the keys, they did not ask for my ID or name and happily handed the keys over. Not even a congratulations or enjoy your new home. I think a little bit of customer service training would not be wasted.

After our experience with this company…

After our experience with this company they easily deserve the above rating. We were with them for about about 8 weeks and during that time feedback was near non existent and the quality of photographs was just awful. He tried to push anyone through the door even though they were not interested.He used to say oh I'm just around the corner and I would like to show someone your property. When in fact the property matey was showing them they did not like and he thought oh well I'll chance his luck.However I am to blame because I should have invited 3 agencies and should have not been governed by their low commission.I honestly got what I paid for and that was zilch.UPDATEI sent my concerns to the office concern d and they have now dealt with all issues. However my review stands as this was a very honest account at the time.

What a great team of people. Communication has been been excellent. Right from the start of the process Todd, Steve and Tom have been fantastic. Special mention for Tom as he was always available to discuss any issues we had. He was honest and very reliable. He always seemed to go above and beyond, chasing all the relevant people, getting the information we needed to feel reassured. It has been a pleasure to have Tom managing our house sale and we would highly recommend Fox and Sons to anybody wanting to sell their house.

If I could give zero stars I would

Avoid these in Hayward’s Heath. Plenty others that are much better. We received a number of calls promising the world, they did not deliver and they couldn’t even be bothered to keep us updated on our property. We had to chase a number of times to get our property on right move, they were not interested in communicating with us, felt as though they stop trying once we signed up. Regretted it immediately! Sent a complaint in and they refused to refund our cash back for the photographs they made us pay upfront for. Avoid.

Todd initially came round to value the property and draw up a floor plan, he knows the market very well and came fully prepared with previous sales on the road and in our area. Steve the branch manager called us as soon as we signed up to outline the time period for the whole process and to discuss things we could do to keep the transaction moving swiftly. Steve called us with various updates and was always on top of chasing solicitors and third parties when required. We also had several conversations with Tom and Freya in the office who again were keeping us up to date with all parts of the process as it happened. The team as a whole keep you very involved in the process and they don’t shy away from any issues that arise. If you want a stress free sale of your house then you can’t beat the team at Fox and Sons

Rude, Unprofessional, Untruthful

I asked to view a property. The agent was over 10 mins late. We asked numerous questions, both verbally and in writing. I didn't receive any acknowledgement of the email or any reply. I asked again in writing. Received a response - the majority of the answers bore no resemblance to the truth. I challenged them. They blamed the Vendor. I asked to see the property again, the same agent was 10 minutes late. We asked to walk around the property (without him on our heels the whole time) - he replied 'what can you have to say that you can't say in front of me?' We put in an offer. No response. No acknowledgement. Nothing for three days. We put in another offer. Complete silence. Telephoned and asked to speak the Branch Manager. I was told he would ring me back shortly. Zero response.

Estate Agent half truths???

Fox & Sons clearly have difficulty representing the truth in their property summary and detailed description. Take whatever they write in their property particulars with a LARGE pinch of salt!!A property (6 Purzebrook Cottages Musbury Road, Axminster EX13 5JQ) was being advertised (21st Oct. 2020) as "Benefiting from countryside views to the front and enclosed rear garden". After complaining to Fox & Sons, they changed the details to "Benefiting from countryside views to the front from the top floor bedroom and enclosed rear garden". However, they still left the summary details with the original statement. In addition, the use of the 'and' conjunction in the sentence, implies that the rear garden has also a countryside view, when in fact it is enclosed with NO view! The information is misleading, as the countryside view can ONLY been seen from the 2nd floor velux window in the roof.I cannot recommend Fox and Sons.

This agent is absolutely useless.

This agent is absolutely useless.I had them around to value a property that I was looking to list. They came around and looked but failed to call back with a valuation. They then called a week later to ask if I would like to list it with them. When I advised they had not given me a price, the lady said she would look into it and get back to me.She never did.I am now trying to buy a property they have listed.I had a viewing which they failed to do a follow up call on. When I called them with a question, they said they would call me back, which they failed to do. It then went under offer, but the sale fell through. At this point I thought they may call and say it was back on the market and was I still interested, as you would expect an agent trying to earn a fee to do. No call.Again I had to call them, leaving three messages on the answer phone to tell them I was still interested. None of which they replied to.Having experienced their service from being both a seller and buyer I would advise you to avoid this company.

My experience was a Plymouth branch but it would appear from reviews, there are problems nationwide. I would rate 0 stars if it was an option and wish I had checked here before agreeing to allow Fox and Sons to market my property. Luckily I didn’t pay any up front costs. After going to cancel my appointment for a valuation as they don’t provide floor plans as standard, the agent said he would provide this and encouraged me to meet with them due to being a ‘big seller in my postcode’. This is my first time selling, I have little knowledge on it. Not a cheap company to use, took photos with no advice on how to make my property look. Literally point and snap. I was emailed the ad on a Saturday to check over, I emailed back amendments. They amended half of these and put it online without any further contact. I was at work and realised later in the day the ad was online. They were then closed the Sunday and then didn’t amend it until Monday late afternoon.The property information stated was incorrect and other information was completely missing. Once this got amended, then a floor plan was added without being asked to check it first. The floor plan was inaccurate, the pantry was missing, a built in wardrobe was in the wrong location and the master bedroom appeared almost smaller than the second bedroom when it’s considerably larger. The ad was littered with basic spelling and grammatical errors. I asked them on Tuesday morning to amend the photos and floor plan. I then decided to ask them to remove the ad completely and requested this by 10:15am. The agent attempted to defend what he had uploaded saying no agent could do better. Yet other flats are up for sale in the complex with much better ads and photos. It took 2 emails and 2 phone calls to have it removed. I requested email confirmation once it was done and received none. My ad was live for 4 days with incorrect and also missing information. I was quoted £2150 fixed fee for this service, payable on completion. I’m shocked a company charging this amount could perform such a bad job. The agent had sold it as ‘you get what you pay for’ to suggest I don’t use another cheaper company. He spoke about his eye for details. When I raised issues about incorrect details, he said they don’t matter and the flat will sell itself. If the flat will sell itself, why am I paying a premium rate for a service when others charge a fraction of the price? The agent also informed me they sold a lot of properties in my postcode. I have since checked this on an independent site, to realise they aren’t in the top listed sellers for my postcode. I have since found a similar priced local agent who has the highest percentage of sales in my postcode. I wish I had thought of doing this search to begin with and avoided Fox and Sons.

Southampton, Bitterne branch - very poor

Very poor. Although the estate agent appeared to know what she was talking about when we met in person, they made numerous mistakes - they went to the wrong house to take photos, they sometimes called the wrong number to contact me, they arranged a viewing without telling me and I wasn't at home to let them in.They only arranged three viewings in three months (before the coronavirus lockdown)They didn't send me a contract to sign despite my requesting it numerous times, and them agreeing that it was necessary.Their communication was awful. They only replied to 5 out of 16 emails, the rest they ignored. They said they would call me once a week with progress, but only called twice. They never forwarded any outcome or feedback from viewings to me. When I called them, they only picked up their phone half the time and when they did, only one person could answer my query and they were nearly always out. I left messages to call me back but they never did. I had to call five or six times to get a question answered.I just became frustrated with them and gave up on them. I am currently trying Purple Bricks instead.

Brilliant service

I sold my flat through Fox and son in Seaford by their auction route. It was sold in under 5 weeks from viewing to completion. Fox and Sons Southampton are a total waste of time. They cold called me asking if I’d be interested in a market appraisal so I agreed. Only for them not to turn up. When I called their office they fobbed me off telling me they had not received my address details from their contact centre despite them confirming them to me at the beginning of the call. Clearly no regard for customer service having read these reviews and no response to them would suggest no interest in improving their service either. I’ve contacted the estate agent who sold me the property at Charles Powell as he was a pleasure.

Shameful customer service and poor performance to match

A great sales pitch when I first contacted them and they were all over me in responding. After that, the service was absolutely appalling. Messages I left were not answered and there was virtually no communication. I was told that there were about 26 people on their books 'looking for a property like mine'. It seems like they are only interested at the start and then customer service is zero. I rented my flat and for sure will not use this company when I come to sell it. I am not complaining that the flat didn't sell as that is not entirely in their hands but they could at least have communicated and shown some interest in me as a client.They didn't even bother to reply when I wrote to take the flat off the market and gave them polite but honest feedback.I do not know how they remain in business and they certainly won't ever get business from anyone I know.

I have just sold my house recently through the Lewes Branch of fox and sons and I can only say that Paul the manager and Holly his back up were absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond to sale my gorgeous house for me keeping me informed every step of the way and when needed chasing and liaising with solicitors etc the sell itself was extremely difficult for one reason and another and the fact I lived away did not help matters but in terms of sorting things out for me as I was absent I could not fault them at all even as much as going in to put the heating on and off. Thank you both and all the team for your help in the sale of my house in lewes East Sussex
