TrustpilotAvoid.
My experience was a Plymouth branch but it would appear from reviews, there are problems nationwide. I would rate 0 stars if it was an option and wish I had checked here before agreeing to allow Fox and Sons to market my property. Luckily I didn’t pay any up front costs. After going to cancel my appointment for a valuation as they don’t provide floor plans as standard, the agent said he would provide this and encouraged me to meet with them due to being a ‘big seller in my postcode’. This is my first time selling, I have little knowledge on it. Not a cheap company to use, took photos with no advice on how to make my property look. Literally point and snap. I was emailed the ad on a Saturday to check over, I emailed back amendments. They amended half of these and put it online without any further contact. I was at work and realised later in the day the ad was online. They were then closed the Sunday and then didn’t amend it until Monday late afternoon. The property information stated was incorrect and other information was completely missing. Once this got amended, then a floor plan was added without being asked to check it first. The floor plan was inaccurate, the pantry was missing, a built in wardrobe was in the wrong location and the master bedroom appeared almost smaller than the second bedroom when it’s considerably larger. The ad was littered with basic spelling and grammatical errors. I asked them on Tuesday morning to amend the photos and floor plan. I then decided to ask them to remove the ad completely and requested this by 10:15am. The agent attempted to defend what he had uploaded saying no agent could do better. Yet other flats are up for sale in the complex with much better ads and photos. It took 2 emails and 2 phone calls to have it removed. I requested email confirmation once it was done and received none. My ad was live for 4 days with incorrect and also missing information. I was quoted £2150 fixed fee for this service, payable on completion. I’m shocked a company charging this amount could perform such a bad job. The agent had sold it as ‘you get what you pay for’ to suggest I don’t use another cheaper company. He spoke about his eye for details. When I raised issues about incorrect details, he said they don’t matter and the flat will sell itself. If the flat will sell itself, why am I paying a premium rate for a service when others charge a fraction of the price? The agent also informed me they sold a lot of properties in my postcode. I have since checked this on an independent site, to realise they aren’t in the top listed sellers for my postcode. I have since found a similar priced local agent who has the highest percentage of sales in my postcode. I wish I had thought of doing this search to begin with and avoided Fox and Sons.

TrustpilotSouthampton, Bitterne branch - very poor
Very poor. Although the estate agent appeared to know what she was talking about when we met in person, they made numerous mistakes - they went to the wrong house to take photos, they sometimes called the wrong number to contact me, they arranged a viewing without telling me and I wasn't at home to let them in.They only arranged three viewings in three months (before the coronavirus lockdown)They didn't send me a contract to sign despite my requesting it numerous times, and them agreeing that it was necessary.Their communication was awful. They only replied to 5 out of 16 emails, the rest they ignored. They said they would call me once a week with progress, but only called twice. They never forwarded any outcome or feedback from viewings to me. When I called them, they only picked up their phone half the time and when they did, only one person could answer my query and they were nearly always out. I left messages to call me back but they never did. I had to call five or six times to get a question answered.I just became frustrated with them and gave up on them. I am currently trying Purple Bricks instead.

TrustpilotBrilliant service
I sold my flat through Fox and son in Seaford by their auction route. It was sold in under 5 weeks from viewing to completion. I had no fees to pay .Toby and all the office staff, Eden auction house staff and Danielle in the legal department were amazing. Everyone rang me back when promised and went the extra mile to sell get the sale through. Thank you everyone I will certainly use you and recommend you in future .

TrustpilotFox and Sons Southampton are a total…
Fox and Sons Southampton are a total waste of time. They cold called me asking if I’d be interested in a market appraisal so I agreed. Only for them not to turn up. When I called their office they fobbed me off telling me they had not received my address details from their contact centre despite them confirming them to me at the beginning of the call. Clearly no regard for customer service having read these reviews and no response to them would suggest no interest in improving their service either. I’ve contacted the estate agent who sold me the property at Charles Powell as he was a pleasure.

TrustpilotShameful customer service and poor performance to match
A great sales pitch when I first contacted them and they were all over me in responding. After that, the service was absolutely appalling. Messages I left were not answered and there was virtually no communication. I was told that there were about 26 people on their books 'looking for a property like mine'. It seems like they are only interested at the start and then customer service is zero. I rented my flat and for sure will not use this company when I come to sell it. I am not complaining that the flat didn't sell as that is not entirely in their hands but they could at least have communicated and shown some interest in me as a client. They didn't even bother to reply when I wrote to take the flat off the market and gave them polite but honest feedback.I do not know how they remain in business and they certainly won't ever get business from anyone I know.

I have just sold my house recently through the Lewes Branch of fox and sons and I can only say that Paul the manager and Holly his back up were absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond to sale my gorgeous house for me keeping me informed every step of the way and when needed chasing and liaising with solicitors etc the sell itself was extremely difficult for one reason and another and the fact I lived away did not help matters but in terms of sorting things out for me as I was absent I could not fault them at all even as much as going in to put the heating on and off. Thank you both and all the team for your help in the sale of my house in lewes East Sussex

TrustpilotNeed a basic lesson in customer service, appalling
I rented a property managed by Fox and Sons Worthing for the past 2 years. They are without a doubt the most incompetent, useless excuse of an estate agent I have ever experienced. I would seriously think about it if the property is managed by this agent. Non-existent customer service, the worst part is the unwillingness to help and they will feed you elaborate stories to avoid giving out contact information to allow you to follow things up yourself. When I needed something they made me feel like I was at the mercy of an invisible entity that couldn't be contacted and provided no progress information. They always passed the book to the parent company. I had maintenance inspections that were not carried out but logged on the system as if they had been, problems with the property which were reported on day 1 and never fixed throughout my time there. They let me move into the property without a functioning fire alarm system and the speed of response was absolutely disgusting and I had to take my own safety precautions. Do yourself a favor and avoid they are not worth the stress.

TrustpilotFox and Sons Taunton
Having come over to do a valuation, my calls and emails for updates were completely ignored. I even went in to the branch to follow up and even the promises made in that conversation were not fulfilled. If they can't be bothered to follow up when trying to get new stock on board, god knows how poor the service will be when it goes on the market! I can believe any estate agency is too busy right now to return calls and emails.

TrustpilotHighly NOT recommended
Highly NOT recommended, unprofessional! We booked 3 view appointments, they want cancel 2 (when we waiting next to the property). Lady open a front door for us, hands crossed, and she said she haven’t got time for it. We ask for try the boiler but they not able to do it. They sent us a letter about the boiler is “good working order” we tried use it on a moving day but it’s fail. Don’t do hot water or heating. I contact the agent and solicitor to but they not able to repair it because the exchange is done.. I called 3 different gas engineer, they can’t fix it (it cost £60 each) I have to buy a new one ( is around £3000). I called the citizen advice and they offer for me them solicitor because it’s not legal. I ask them to move the rubbish from the property, but they left a lot of in the garage and garden. Broken doors and skirts so I need hire a skip because it’s bigger then my car (£100). But someone removed few radiators and change the bathroom door, its 2 inch bigger than the frame so no chance for close it. Our mortgage advisor left the company, we wait 2 months for the new one... and the new one didn’t do anything for us. She answer 1-2 weeks later and the answer was always “I can’t help for you”.All of these cost £3000 fees!

TrustpilotJust moved out of a property managed by…
Just moved out of a property managed by Fox and sons Salisbury and I feel cheated. Their stand is very unfair and unjust. It’s almost 2 weeks I moved out of the property and technically I paying for the property till 10th of November 2019 simply because I only notified verbally. I told both the landlord and the manager of fox and sons Salisbury immediately I got a job far away which means I can no longer stay in the property. I spoke to them about the possibility of a colleague taking up the apartment after checking. This verbal notification came at least 3 and a half month before I eventually moved out. I was later asked to put it into writing when it was 6 weeks to the end of my tenancy. I asked why wouldn’t you tell me to put it into writing when I first notified both landlord and the manager verbally? And the second issue is you collecting the key of the property without notifying that my rent will end on the 10-11-2019, only to do that now when I’m about to claim my deposit. Isn’t that a tactics to get somebody to pay for the time spent to get the property ready for the next tenant? I exchanged mails with manager to show my unhappiness and obviously nothing would change. I’m just here to tell everyone to be careful with fox and sons dealings because the tenancy agreement is very unfair and unjust.

He has been there every step of the way, always keeping us updated and informed regarding the selling and purchasing of our house and of course our mortgage application! He has gone out of his way to ensure everything went smoothly, always at the end of the phone and even came into the office on his day off to see us!! Thank for everything!

TrustpilotTo be honest one star is too many
To be honest one star is too many. This is a company that does not consider either the vendor or the buyer. All they are interested in is the money they can make themselves. Their terms are that they price your house based on their commission. So they price it high. Then they tell you that the price is too high and they have had offers from a number of interested buyers at a lower rate. You still have to pay commission based on their original evaluation. They also do not allow people to view properties they have on the market unless you have your property on with them to sell. This restricts the offers the vendor could get.We sold a property with them and would never deal with them again. We have tried viewing properties they have on the market. They will not let us as we don’t want them to sell our property.I would suggest that anyone looking to sell their house to use anyone apart from Fox & Sons

TrustpilotDo not use Fox and Sons.
Do not use Fox and Sons.1. If you are a first time buyer do not believe Fox and Sons when they state you should use their in house mortgage broker ‘because all banks prefer you to’.This is a lie - the bank do not prefer you to. I spoke to banks afterwards and they said this is not true, and they commonly hear from customers that Fox and Sons have lied to people in this way.Fox and Sons will charge you £99 for using this service as an admin fee, and will then charge you £599 at the end of the process. You can avoid this by going direct to the bank. The mortgage appointment is made up of Fox and Sons broker trying to sell you unnecessary add ons like income protection. Do not be scared into purchasing these agreements. Do not sign up for anything with their broker, if necessary take the information and go home to think about it. Do not purchase anything with Fox and Sons because you do not need it, despite what they say. They are relying on first time buyers being unaware and abusing this to their advantage. The manager from the Polegate, East Sussex branch is very rude and unprofessional - swore under his breath several times during conversation, hung up the phone on me, lied outright to me when he asked me to come to the office even though he knew he wasn’t going to be there. He appears to be quite inexperienced and unable to control his emotions. Poor customer service skills and would benefit from a more comprehensive training development programme that improved his ability to communicate effectively in customer facing situations where he clearly lacks confidence.

Trustpilotshocking service, do not even think of using their broker service
shocking service. DO NOT USE THEIR MORTGAGE SERVICE. We were first time buyers and used their service at eastbourne, after the first appointment when they found a provider we had to literly send all documents and do all the work for them with the mortgage company although they were meant to be doing this as we paid £690! This was because we had the mortgage company contacting us asking why the broker has not been sending the required documents to them even though we had sent them to him. We managed to get back £300 but if i knew how bad the service was we would of just burnt the money. This has put us from even using their buying service, which they didnt even turn up to a viewing we booked once!

TrustpilotShysters.
Shysters.I put my property on with them as they offerred a good deal so I thought. I now realise they overvalued the property with lots of promises to get me hooked.I even paid a additional cash lump sum up front for enhanced marketing, but my iphone pictures were better than theirs! So we ran for the full 4 months of the contract and they got 4 viewings, so I told them I was going to go elsewhere. this dragged on for a bit and then I confirmed it to them and went to another agent who sold the place in about 4 weeks! So what the hell were Fox and Sons doing all that time! Now however, Foxy want to claim a 1% plus VAT fee from me for their time as they say there were two agents involved! I think Ill let this one go to court to see what a judge thinks as they did NOT achieve this sale and had plenty of opportunity to do so.Only use these guys if there is no one else and spray painting 'FOR SALE' on your fence is not an option!

TrustpilotAvoid Eastbourne Fox & Sons
Shockingly bad service. I would recommend to use any other estate agent apart from them. Firstly, they send Travis, who will go to the end of the Earth to get your listing by spending 2 hours if need be, giving an overpriced estimate to get your business then to later reduce it when it gets no interest. Try to charge you 2% fees+VAT at first, which a lot of people probably fall for if it's their first time and will push you to use in-house solicitors and mortgage advisors. After viewings, they pretty much always failed to give feedback on them unless I called and wouldn't even text when a viewing was going to occur. They would just give one phone call and go ahead even if it wasn't answered. They would send someone from the office who knew absolutely nothing about the property to do viewings, who also wouldn't be able to answer prospective buyers' questions. This also occurred when we went to view properties being sold by them. Then, when our property finally did get an offer as we only listed with them because the property we were buying was with them also, consequently the other property we were supposed to buy had been bought by someone else. What a coincidence! They then wanted us to still sell our property while they looked for another property for us. What an absolute joke of a business and I will tell everyone I can to avoid them like the plague.

Fox and Sons company has rented us a house with bugs inside the kitchen and bathroom, the outside garden is absolutely disgusting, abandoned rubbish bags, broken chairs, greens everywhere, dirty rubbbish containers, abandoned children toys at the entrance, the list goes on. Generally the house is in very poor condition. We have sent a complaint letter and nothing was done so far!! Poor service, not recommended.

TrustpilotOne star is too much - Bitterne, Southampton
Fox and Son Bitterne, Southampton. Used the Bitterne branch for selling my property. They were lying from the start. Did not return calls. When called 3rd time in day - the receptionist answer was always that agent just went out and will call me later. It took three days to get reply and even than we had to call them again to get replay. Unprofessional staff. Never left any feedback. Never informed us on day of completion (the Easton agent contacted as - the company from which we were buying house). When they called - their talk was full of lies - multiply times they told us that we will exchange contract next day and that took two months. The staff is highly immature and costumer care is not existing.
