Dexters Notting Hill continue the great work

Have posted previous great reviews of Dexters Notting Hill office, but just wanted to say again how well they've worked in finding me my new tenants and giving a me a lot of help sorting out some urgent works which needed completing over the difficult Christmas period. I've found both their Lettings Agents and Management Depts continue to go to great lengths to smooth the way for landlords!

Nice people but they don't do anything…

Nice people but they don't do anything unless you constantly chase them. For example they've owed me money for over 4 months now, every time I chase I get an excuse followed by a statement that it'll happen in X days. It doesn't happen so I chase again, repeat, repeat. Was similar when I was in one of their flats, the first visit for an issue or maintenance would be arranged quickly, then follow ups to actually fix the issue would not happen until I chased them.Pretty disappointing

I have always been pleased with my local Douglas Martin in Hendon, but I didn't realise they have been taken over by the large company Dexters. Now it seems to be more about their own performance than customer satisfaction. As a landlord with rising prices I was adamant that I only wanted a fixed priced one year contract, while they kept pushing two years. Not that I am unreasonable and overpriced. But I need the option to slightly raise. Yet somehow I ended up with a two year fixed contract. How? I was travelling with bad WiFi and on the day they sent through the contract to sign I was on a boat and could only click quickly and return. I didn't realise I'd signed for two years! Nor did they tell me until a two year bill arrived. Now I have a tenant who phones regularly about everything and anything and I'm stuck for two years! I spoke to another landlord who was also unhappy as he ended up with two years. They also pushed like mad for extras like management etc. To make matters worse after taking the first month for their fees they hounded me for another £125 threatening a debt collector. Sadly I would not use them again.

fully managed carefree letting with Dexters Kingston office

We have been letting our property on a fully managed basis through Dexters Kingston Office. Sonia De Abreu and her term have helped us managing our property for almost two decades by now, and when they say its fully managed, they mean it. It is basically carefree for us, and they tidy up all the loose ends associagted in dealing with tenants requests. Differents sections of Dexters work seamlessly, valuable advice and solutions seems just a phone call away for us.

London Bridge Branch Caused Two Aborted Sales

We appointed the London Bridge Branch to market two of our properties for us.A guy called Magnus managed to find prospective buyers and immediately against my explicit instructions not only stopped marketing the properties but completely took them off the market.One prospective buyer changed their mind and the other knowing that the place has been taken off the market dropped the agreed price by £6k.I told them and Dexters to take a hike.The directors at Dexters shamelessly made up excuses and Magnus became a manager!!DO NOT TRUST THIS FIRM.I have been in the property business for over 25 years and have never seen such outrageous misconduct.PS. The comment below is an attempt to neutralise my experience and comments made here.I made a subject access request and it was proven that our properties should not have been taken off the market.The directors blamed it on a "glitch in the system"!!

not competent, lack law knowledge

I would definitely not recommend Dexters, as their service is terrible and far from respecting the law. The employees seem to lack expertise and knowledge.We have rented out an apartment in Ada Place near Broadway Market. It happened several times when the flat was about to sell, that the agents illegally came to the flat with potential buyers without notifying us in advance, or telling us only a few hours in advance. Once, I have been working from home and the agent came to the flat without 24-hour notice and tried to kick me out of the flat for the time of the viewing. I did not call the police as I couldn't bother because I was busy. Not only did he proceed to the viewing when I was working from home, without our permission, but he shouted at me, and disturbed my normal life and work. Moreover, the place wasn’t maintained by them, as required by law during our tenancy when things were broken or in bad condition like moulds, rusty handles or paint coming out of the wall. Now, when together with my flatmates we moved out from that flat on 19 Dec, as we found a much better place, we still didn't get any deposit back for more than month after moving out. Also, Dexters agent, Fahima Miah doesn't want to provide us with any information about the deposit scheme, which is also illegal.Dealing with Dexters is just such a pain, and if you don't want to be involved in any legal cases, I would recommend you stay far away from them.

Professional and tenacious

Most people think that estate agents take photos of their houses, show a few people round and then sit there and wait for the money to roll in. As an agent of 20 years' experience I can assure you that is not the case. Getting the buyer is the easy part. The hard part is holding a chain together and working with everyone else to get to an exchange. I was recently in a chain with Alistair and, had it not been for his tireless prodding, nudging and cajoling, the sale would not have happened. In estate agency we play the long game so if you want a professional agent use Dexters.

Sale of a Flat

Dexters efficiently arranged for a number of viewings of my flat when it was placed on the market. When those did not produce any offers, they gave me helpful advice about the level to which to reduce the selling price. They were patient and persistent throughout a few more twists and turns in the whole process, which lasted several months. In summary, I thought the people I dealt with were very competent in what they did, and also genuinely wished to do the best they could for me as an individual customer.
