My wife and I recently moved home which involved a long chain of properties. Gascoigne Halman Glossop were the estate agent acting on behalf of the property we were purchasing. Out of several estate agents involved in the process they were by far the best! Karen Armstrong was excellent from day one. Her communication and commitment to seeing the process through was amazing. At points it genuinely felt like she was our estate agent. Throughout numerous issues that arose with other sales in the chain she worked tirelessly to resolve them, going far above and beyond other estate agents in the process. John the branch manager and Chloe her colleague were also excellent. If we ever move in the future they will be our go to!

It isn't common to find such a wonderful group of people all working under one roof, but the team at Gascoigne make you feel like you are in safe hands. Every phone call taken quickly, every question answered expertly and with confidence and every anxiety washed away with humour and kindness. If trust in a team is determined by returning clients, then having the GH in Glossop sell our last 3 homes swiftly and professionally should instil confidence in future buyers to pick these guys. Glossop is full of capable estate agents but GH is a cut above- thank you Chloe, John, Jordan and Karen- we will miss you!

We used Gascoigne Halman to buy a house in Glossop in December 2025 and they were great. We mainly dealt with Karen Armstrong and she was super patient, knowledgable, kind, responsive and helpful. Moving house is stressful and i had other personal things going on, but Karen was super reassuring and really patient throughout, i really trusted her and Gascoigne Halman throughout the sale and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to move in the Glossop area.

I’ve just bought a house and Gascoigne Halman was the estate agent dealing with our purchase. Our experience with them from start to finish has been excellent. Karen is an absolute legend. So personable and lovely! The communication was brilliant throughout the whole process. They always picked up the phone and returned calls, which is not my experience with all estate agents! They chased regularly but this never felt pushy, just that they wanted to keep the process moving, which we really appreciated and I’d imagine the seller must have too. To say you can’t really pick the estate you’re buying from, we really got lucky because they were fantastic and should we ever need to sell again (and it won’t be for a while because we love our new house!) it would be Gascoigne Halman without question.

I rang a few different estate agents when looking to rent a property, and Gascoigne Halman were by far the friendliest and most helpful from the start. I spoke to Jordan who ensured their customer service was incredible right from the first call. When it came to renting a house, we dealt with Chloe, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. I’ve rented a few properties in my life, and Chloe made this by far the easiest and smoothest process I’ve ever experienced, hands down. She was friendly, professional and always quick to help - I honestly can’t thank her enough! Would 100% recommend Gascoigne Halman in Glossop to anyone looking to rent or buy.

What can I say, Chloe was an absolute gem. Whilst our home sold within the first week, the completion process was an absolute nightmare. If it wasn’t for Chloe, I suspect our sale still wouldn’t have completed and either the buyer or us would have walked away (we almost did several times) Chloe was managing both solicitors (neither of which I would recommend) and the buyer. She was certainly trying to herd cats. Thanks also to John and Karen. Couldn’t recommend Gascoigne Halman more highly. We went with them originally because of how well they did with our neighbours property 2 years earlier, and they did not disappoint.

Absolutely terrible experience with…

Absolutely terrible experience with this letting agent. After the landlord withdrew an agreed offer, we were left out of pocket and still have not had our deposit returned. Communication has been poor throughout, with constant delays and little accountability. We felt completely unsupported and ignored when trying to resolve the issue fairly. I would strongly advise others to be very cautious before dealing with this agency. They tried to make us send them thousands of pounds with no contract given then last minute withdrew the offer and are refusing to give the deposit back. Absolutely dreadful agency.

Excellent throughout

Absolutely excellent from start to finish of the house sale - one local agent kept phoning to see if we 'had come to a decision to market the property' which lost them any business, whereas GH did the visit to see the place and then said they'd leave us alone and it was up to us to give it the go-ahead or not. No pestering - excellent. Once we gave them the thumbs-up we had a string of viewers within days, and eventually exceeded the guide price by a small margin which suggests the guide price was accurate too. The staff at Gascoigne Halman were always on hand and worked brilliantly, especially Georgia who made sure everyone was kept in touch with any and all news and developments as things progressed, resulting in a sale a fortnight before Christmas which was exactly what buyers and sellers wanted. I would heartily recommend this outift.

Such a stress free and quick process renting out our lovely new home in Glossop. Due to Chloe Bell, who was so kind, very professional, and just a lovely lady. Poor service and disappointing behaviour after tenancy agreement

After completing our tenancy with Gascoigne halman. Despite leaving the property in what we believed to be a clean and acceptable condition. We received a £550 deposit claim, including charges for cleaning (£250), decoration and painting (£150), and a radiator leak (£115). I have rented this apartment for 1 year.When we first moved into the property, it was in poor condition and had a noticeable odour. We raised this with the agency several times, but no action was taken.

Awful management and communication

As per all the other negative reviews - terrible communication - poorly written emails, unprofessional in manner and just awful to deal with. From moving into property, water pressure issues and constant cold showers. After months of back and forth was told (by a manager) 'oh well you are on a rolling contract, so you can just find another property' as appose to just having the issue fixed? Turns out it was a pump needed for the boiler, and of course the landlord did not want to pay as it was 'expensive'. It wasn't. Paying over a grand a month for no hot showers and terrible management is expensive. Clearly they prioritise landlords and not tenants. We left as suggested and do not recommend for renting at all - save your self the stress and sour puss faces.
