If I could give negative stars, I would. I enquired about a property at the River’s Edge complex with a budget of £1,000. The first staff member I spoke to told me there were homes available under that price, including a 3-bed house and 2-bed apartments. I arranged a viewing for the next day, but then received a call from another Simple Life staff member saying she was already on site and that it would take her two hours to return the following day, so I was pressured into viewing that same day. At the viewing, I was shown the 3-bed property and told the rent was £995. After leaving, I received a follow-up call from a different staff member who confirmed again the rent was £995, explained the council tax band (C), outlined the application process, and mentioned the £230 holding fee. Then, more confusion: another staff member called me as though I hadn’t already viewed the property, and even emailed me an offer for the wrong address. After chasing this up, I was sent the correct offer email, once again stating the rent was £995. That means the rent of £995 was confirmed on at least four separate occasions: 1. On Simple Life’s website 2. At the viewing 3. On a follow-up call after the viewing 4. In the official offer email Based on this, I submitted my application and paid the holding fee. Only then did I receive a call claiming it was all a “system error” and the property was actually more expensive. A one-off typo would be understandable, but to have multiple staff members, emails, calls, and the official website all repeat the same incorrect price is not a mistake, it’s false advertising. We even turned down another rental property in favour of this one. Now we’ve lost both, and Simple Life has offered no resolution, no sympathy, and no alternative solution. To put it into perspective: imagine a car company listed a car online at a set price, confirmed it over the phone, confirmed again at a test drive, sent you paperwork at that price, and accepted your deposit, only to later call and say, “Actually, it’s way more expensive, it was an error.” That would never be acceptable. In fact, it would be illegal. This company is disorganised, misleading, and completely unprofessional. I will be formally reporting them.
