TrustpilotCurrently having a terrible experience
Currently having a terrible experience. What should have been an enjoyable experience buying our first home has become a nightmare and that's from somebody who does conveyancing for a living! After reserving in January we have still not got a completion date. We have had hardly any updates from Jones Homes and we have even had numerous incorrect updates. After being told at reserving build complete was estimated for July 2018 we exchanged contracts and have a long stop date of 30th November. We made our choices in August and were told by the site manager after complaining that these had not been received in October. We have been offered nothing by way of compensation and now the sales office expect us to pay for a new valuation to obtain a new offer due to their delays and they will refund it on completion!!!! We aren't even sure we want to complete anymore. My bathroom tiles I chose have been sat on the driveway for over a week and after visiting every day there has been no workmen in sight on my house for over a week. Terrible customer service, no help, no compensation. Very quick to take your money for any extras but then not interested in completing anywhere near on time. It seems the sales staff are more interested in talking to you about themselves than sorting out your home. Once they have your reservation fee good luck in completing when you expect. Ours is months after and still no end in sight and not even an apology. Terrible!!!! I deal with many other builders who are much more professional and I had always believed Jones to be one of the best builders. Think twice unless you can wait forever.... We have lost lots of money thanks to this firm and they don't even respond!

No pushy sales and never felt pressured to proceed. Action taken straight away when small problems were reported. Quality of our new home is much more than other builders we looked at. More space and more higher end items included as a standard e.g big shower head on showers

Avoid Jones Homes New-Builds.Over 200 snag jobs, terrible customer service, they don't care once you've exchanged contracts.House was a mess on moving day with dust and grime everywhere, Jones won't make amendments to snags that they are responsible from messing up in the first palace due to inept sales advisor admin errors. The whole build has just been rushed and is a complete mess.Avoid any new build from Jones Homes, especially in Lancashire.

TrustpilotDisgraceful Customer Service
We moved into a 15 month old Jones home (The Banbury house type) in March (Ribbleswood Chase in Cottam, Lancashire). As such, the transferable warranty is still applicable to us as the new owners. Our issue concerns the state of the rear garden. Firstly, the garden becomes easily saturated due to poor drainage. It is clear that this issue has tried to be addressed already by Jones Homes but the job has not been effective as the drainage channels are only just beneath the surface of the lawn. As such, it is not effective but, more importantly, the three long drainage channels are highly visible and very unsightly, resembling “tramlines” across the garden. Further to this, the patio laid by Jones Homes slopes back towards the rear of the house when really it should be sloping away from the house. Also, the pointing breaks away easily as if the wrong mix has been used. What really should be done is for the garden to be levelled, proper drainage put in and the patio properly relaid or a new one put in. We contacted the Customer Service Manager who sent someone round to assess. He agreed with our assessment and went away to report it to the Customer Service Manager. Eventually, she came back to us and said that, as the patio has been extended by the previous owners, the warranty was invalid. She offered to address the drainage but, after their last attempt, I said that we would like to arrange that to be down by someone more reputable and known to us. I then asked them for a contribution to the £2000 cost of rectification which was refused. We are very disappointed in the lack of customer care in this instance, especially as next door have had the same issue addressed by Jones Homes. It feels as though they are scared about setting a precedent instead of providing the appropriate after sales support. Having talked to other neighbours, it would seem that other issues that they have have also been ignored. The Customer Care Manager who shall remain nameless is in the wrong job in my opinion. This experience has certainly made me think twice about buying another Jones Home in the future and I will be warning others that I know about these kind of issues.

Dear Mr Hopes, Thank you for your review. You are indeed correct that as the patio has been extended by the original purchaser, the warranty relative to any issues now arising with the patio is no longer valid. Whilst we understand this is inconvenient for you as this was done by the previous owners, this is standard industry practice. Where there is a defect which is accepted as being covered by your warranty, Jones Homes would ensure that this is resolved however, in all instances, we reserve the right to have the works completed by our own contractors and not pay towards third parties completing any work. The offer made to you to make arrangements with an alternative contractor to address the drainage channels in the lawn of course still stands but at this point in time, has been declined. Should you wish to accept this offer, please contact our Customer Services team directly.Kind regardsJones Homes

Put a deposit down for a house but was never fully informed about uncapped annual maintenance fees being charged on public land associated with the estate. When I asked about this we were given vague answers and told 'not to worry about it'. Decided to pull out when my lender expressed concern about this as well. They also required to see an AIP before even showing us around the estate which I feel was unnecessary and puts the buyer at a disadvantage. Wouldn't recommend.

“Thank you for your feedback Mr Davison. We are sorry you decided not to proceed with your purchase due to there being a charge levied to the development for the upkeep and maintenance of areas of open space throughout. This is common practice where the local authority do not wish to adopt such areas, and should not have come as a surprise to your lender if they regularly offer mortgages on new build properties. Unfortunately these charges cannot be fixed due to their nature, can go down as well as up as and when costs for the services provided within the fees fluctuate. Here at Jones Homes it is not common practice to request an AIP from somebody visiting our Sales and Marketing office for the first time as this can make potential buyers feel uncomfortable, as you say. Financial qualification is a necessity to safeguard any outlay you may initially make to secure your chosen plot, but on an initial fact finding/enquiry, this is not a requirement. We hope you have been able to find a home that suits your needs.Jones Homes Lancashire”

We recently purchased a property on St Peter’s Park, Mawdesley, Lancashire. We bought via the help to buy scheme and Jones recommendation of their partners to help us sell what was our previous home. I have to say how refreshing it is to find a company who still hold professional standards and have welcoming and professional people. We have lived on the site for a month now and couldn’t be happier. We have previously bought a new home before this purchase and the two just cannot be compared. The new home demonstration before we moved in was really great and helpful. Jones have been fantastic and I would recommend to anyone. The home is beautiful and we as a family are thrilled and so happy. To Sharon we couldn’t have done this without you, from our hearts we cannot thank you enough. To Colin, Yan and all the lads on site thank you so much for your professionalism and great work! To Jones homes thank you for all your support and help with our move and our new home. We are truly blessed! John, Jo and kids

TrustpilotFurther to my good review of Jones…
Further to my good review of Jones Homes I would like to advise potential new purchasers of the following: Now over a year on from our purchase of or new home it has become evident Jones Homes via Customer Services have totally lost interest in attending to further matters of quality. I am being increasing fobbed off that matters that had been dealt with previously are now not. Chipped bricks that used to be repaired are now classed as "asthetic" which is BS. Any new purchaser get a PROFESSIONAL SNAGGER to go over the whole house and look for defects. Get as many people in to check for defects and look everywhere. Once found get Jones to sort them ASAP and persist. Check bad guttering joints, badly fitted worktops, bad drainage, damaged bricks and mortar and bad paint. Check plasterwork around windows and look for rusty hinges. Check for long hair left in paint. Check for badly fitted kitchen units. Check the roof for loose tiles. Check for shower drains blocked with plaster and screws. Check especially for creaking first floor beams. Check everything then do so again. Make sure your landscaping is actually done as per plan otherwise you will have to go to the Council to get this resolved. DO SO WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR as beyond this, despite the 2 years warranty you are largely on your own. Follow up any emails to Customer Services with phone calls as emails go unanswered for weeks. Don't be fobbed off by NHBC BS. Jones make a good house in general, but be on your guard as the penny pinchers pulling the strings overrule Customer Services and leave you out in the cold. I really do not like bad reviews and negativity, but as the customer comes second in the long run with Jones Homes I wish to warn you upfront. Other things for your professional snagger to check: Look for glue patches/ stains on carpets and don’t agree to have them professionally cleaned as your house will smell badly for months. Look for cross threaded radiator valves, loose & arcing light switch wires, chipped kitchen shelves and sanitary ware. Missing sealant to floors and doors. Missing wall tiles behind sinks. Look for flooded patio laid fall to house. Look for puddles on driveway due to badly laid blocks. Check your outside tap works/ double check valve not blocked. Check for damage to door edges. Check for self detaching loft access door (caution) and check for torn roof under felt. Check stairs and first floor for protruding carpet underlay staples that need carpet relaying. Check for missing pipe boxing-in and missing sealant to external vents. Check for missing top soil and for cut short soffits/ barge boards also unsealed. Look for bad garden drainage your garden may be a swamp. Most importantly get these and similar items remedied and do not accept compromise and do so ASAP or prepare to do them yourself. If you do proceed with a new house purchase beware a flawed complaints procedure if you need to do so. Use of pre scripted excuses and reasons why not to help. Jones Homes have some truly excellent employees, and I feel awful that they may read this bad review. I am sorry for them, they deserve better. Management that hide behind a NHBC invisible shied of excuses let down badly what could be an excellent company. Do we regret buying a new Jones Home? No. Would we buy another? Sadly no. Our other experiences of new house buying (Barratt and Redrow) have been customer focused, honest and upfront. Jones Homes take a minute to listen and learn. If you do have a choice think hard before you commit and be warned and aware in advance.

So after my first review where i basically gave jones homes a thumbs up i feel a strong need to write a second one....basically we were assured from day one that our house was the last one on phase 1...this turned out to be completely false....they decided to add 4 more...all well and good except for the fact that the utilities stopped at ours....this has meant instead of work outside our house stopping around xmas it is still like the somme outside and has been since november...there are huge holes outside...the road is non existent...the constant mess, noise and upheaval has gone beyond reasonable tolerance...we have had no contact from head office...they seem to want to leave it to the site manager to basically tell us nothing!! Now i come home to see that the fence next door is at right angles to ours and more than 2 feet higher??? Absoloute amateurism!! Not to even mention the cracks appearing from all the extra earth works...had i known id be living in such a mess i wouldnt have bought the damn place....

TrustpilotTerrible Quality Homes, Even Worse Aftercare
Purchased a home on the Beaumont Gardens estate over 4 years ago and we couldn't regret our decision more. We had no end of snagging issues & not just the standard stuff you'd expect like unpainted/plastered bits we're talking flooring not fitted properly or stuck down, grass in the garden being completely dead (a problem across the entire estate which chorley council had to be involved in before Jones would even look into), taps aren't fitted properly and leaking from the word go, the boilers they installed blowing within the first few years which again was due to the cheapest boilers being used and the same fault happening with multiple people on the estate according to British Gas engineer. What really shocks me is how bad the aftercare/customer service is, jones homes don't care in the slightest and refute everything you report to them as say "it's meant to be that way" or "thats wear and tear, its your fault" (after a few months). They try to put off helping for as long as possible till you are outside of the care/warranty period. If you're considering buying a home from them, walk away, you're already getting poor space/value for money & you aren't going to get good quality for it either.

Good Afternoon Mr Fossil, Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear you do not feel your experience has been as good as it could have been. As we cannot locate your purchase from the details given in your review, please can you be able to contact our Customer Services team directly? Email them at customerservices.lancashire@emerson.co.uk or alternatively call on 01253 728760. We would like to review the case in question to see if we can do anything at all to help. All Jones Homes come with a two year company warranty as standard and a 10 year NHBC warranty. The website below provides details of what your NHBC Buildmark protection cover in years 3-10. We believe this may be useful to go through while we go over your case and for future reference.http://www.nhbc.co.uk/Homeowners/WhatdoesBuildmarkcover/ Many Thanks, Jones Homes

New house, after being in it one year the garage flooded, terrible service, the heating still does not work. British gas say it was never flushed through when installed and Jones Homes will not do a thing. Banging pipes, the floor boards are so thin you can hear when others are in the shower. The kitchen has now things broken, and the house is only 3 years old. The after service is terrible. The bath at the top does not work. Just disgraceful. Stay clear

We recently purchased a property from Jones Homes (Lancashire) on their Willows Development. This is a beautifully stunning development of just 6 properties, which makes it feel very exclusive. The sales process was seamless and stress-free with Lisa our lovely Sales Advisor. We did have a few snags which have been picked up by their Customer Services Department, who have all (including their technicians) been very professional and amazingly friendly. After reading previous reviews, we cannot understand the negative comments as we have not experienced this and can only compliment the Company. We feel that our home has been built to an excellent standard and the fittings are of good quality, we are the envy of our friends and family.
