TrustpilotI've never been made to feel like such …
I've never been made to feel like such a second class citizen than trying to rent through these people. My husband and I sold our house had nothing lined up thought we'd rent for a while we both are full time employer earn good money. William h Brown wanted to know the ins and outs of a ducks bottom even access to my husband's HMRC account we would have happily paid 6mths upfront. Their communication I poor unless they want monies for over inflated searches and admin or trying to sell you sky and broadband. Never never again avoid!!!!!

TrustpilotAvoid WHB
William H brown is the least professional organisation I have ever dealt with. Problems are listed: -High admin fees even with mistakes on invoices and tenancy agreement -Lied about emails they sent me in the past -Promises never delivered including promised call backs numerous times and to arrange viewings-Failed to give viewings. I travelled 7 hours from Devon for a viewing they said they would deliver. They didn't. -Viewings for next tenants turned up unannounced. Avoid this agency.

TrustpilotBullying, threatening and high pressure selling - All under one roof!
We brought through William H Brown about 2 months ago and I have never met such pushy and nasty people. Right from putting an offer in they suddenly became turbo charge in getting their hands on their commission. I was getting 4-5 emails every day demanding that I get in to the mortgage broker, shortly followed by threats that the seller would be pulling out as we hadn't exchanged and they were keen to remind us how privileged we were that they were they ones saving us from loosing everything! AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Had a few dealings with Browns at various locations and I am moved to warn anyone interested enough. I think that job applicants have to pass a "School of Sharp Practise" exam to work there. They all seem to be cloned in Corporate B.S. Sequence, who I believe to be the parent Company, should be ashamed but I suspect the opposite is true .I have bought from them, sold through them and have rented-out through them and In all good conscience I advise you to avoid this agency at all costs as they are truly unfit for purpose.

TrustpilotA truly awful experience from the St Albans branch
Having invited William H Brown to value our humble 2 bedroom flat in St Albans in mid 2017 I was incredibly impressed with Elliot's sales pitch (which was excellent) and for this he should be commended, however MY mistake was believing it. Individually, everyone at the branch is pleasant enough but collectively it is a circus, and the joke it seems is on us. As soon as we signed on the dotted line the lack of communication was breathtaking, and without listing and boring the reader with the numerous examples - it was nothing short of calamitous. I complained at a very early stage to Phil, the branch manager, (who again was pleasant enough) about the lack of, or simply no communication from the staff who were dealing with our sale. It was negligent at best and almost comedic at worst, but of course we weren't laughing. From the outset getting a member of staff to 'actually' call you back with feedback from viewings or the simplest question was a task in itself.Eventually we got an offer, we feel in spite of the agents, not because of them, which we chose to accept. Again we don't feel we were given the full facts of the offer which eventually fell through. It should be noted we don't feel our chain collapsing was the agents fault in any way - but we didn't realise we WERE in a chain! it was sold to us a "cash buyer with no mortgage!" Only when the house of cards began to crash down were we told their home was in a chain, a full 7 weeks after we had accepted.Again, when the ill fated sale was 'progressing' getting any sort of response from them was incredibly difficult and frustrating beyond belief, we were doing ALL the chasing and from an early stage my wife and I felt 'something' wasn't right. we were proved correct. In summary, this is not in any way sour grapes, I complained to Phil about his staff and lack of customer contact skills long before we ever had an offer, and the miserable level of service simply continued up to and including the moment our sale fell through. We of course are licking our wounds and counting the financial ramifications of poor advice and miscommunication. Our perception is that this company have properties on their portfolio that far exceed the value of ours, and they simply couldn't be bothered to treat us, or our sale, with the attention to detail it, or we deserved and therefore we all lost out! I can not recommend William H Brown in any way and would strongly advise you think very carefully about marketing your property with this company, and would remind the staff of William H Brown that rightly or wrongly perception is all!To conclude and to be fair, I take responsibility for making the decision to enter in to the contract with these agents, and again make the point I was taken in by a slick sales pitch. I would remind the reader to do your homework before committing to an estate agent and not make the mistake I obviously made. Selling and buying a home is the most stressful of times and in my experience this company will only add to it.Thank you for reading, you have been warned.

Trustpilot.Should have no stars
.Should have no stars! No communication and young inexperienced staff.Luckily We agreed only 3 months contract. We were taken onto their books with a wave of false promises yes we have loads of applicants for your house,it will sell at that price etc.We were conned into going for one of their corporate online extra pro packages which is their way of getting £130 upfront so when they dont sell your house (which they probably won't) they get to keep the money. This entailed a supposed professional photographer, anyone could take better photos with a phone!.As a business they use the splatter gun approach where you take on so many properties that percentages dictate you must sell some and the rest of your vendors will inevitably fall by the wayside.I feel I have wasted 3 months of potential selling time by entrusting my house to amateurs to sell, DO NOT USE!!!

TrustpilotDO NOT USE - Deceitful and awful customer service!
I wish I'd read some of these reviews before deciding to put my house on the market with William H Brown in Suffolk. Very pleased with the first few weeks when we received two very good offers, however after that the communication rapidly went downhill. Never heard a word unless I did the chasing for an update. I needed the house sale to go through quickly due to personal circumstances and was promised a completion date within two months. Sadly, four months later I still don't even have an exchange date! I am not happy to pay their extortionate fees whilst I am being fobbed off with excuses after excuse and blatantly lied to again and again! Not good enough WHB, very poor indeed and a disappointment to the industry! Do not use. Will do anything to keep you from re-listing your house with another agent! Buyer Beware!!!!

TrustpilotUnfortunately a bad experience.
Unfortunately a bad experience.estate agents are fresh off the block, turn up without keys, have no clue where properties are, do not know how to open doors, reschedule/apparently are unaware of appointments booked unless you call to confirm immediately prior to wasting your day.The service is a front for a big financial company, which is unfortunately not a good way to sell properties. You are ushered to meet with a mortgage advisor, who takes all your details - and knows what you can afford.the mortgage advisor works directly for the parent company employing the young monkeys who run around, called 'negotiators', so obviously tell them what to ask you for!In addition, they apparently hoodwink the seller out of £1000, by making you use their 'packaged services' - mortgage advice and solicitor. These services separately can cost the same, but shopping around can make it even cheaper - I did the math. You are unfortunately left worried things will not progress unless you use their mortgage advisor who owns the place, and the bundled solicitor. The most effective way of using this service is to direct all your enquiries to the mortgage advisor, who can 'tell' the William h brown employees what to do.I have discarded their offer of 10% off if I ever want to sell, and another card for a friend. I would not want anyone to go through this utter incompetence.

TrustpilotCompletely incompetent lettings agent
Completely incompetent lettings agent - slow to respond, continuously had to chase them, no comment sense nor any desire to actually manage a property let (although happy to take fees). Do not use. This agent has cost me a lot of money, as the tenant left the property in a mess and the WHB were completely useless. All complaints fell on deaf ears. If you are thinking of engaging William H Brown to let your property for you, don't: you will end up paying fees but managing the property yourself.

TrustpilotDo they not want to sell?
Contacted via rightmove asked them to email me, they phoned. Phoned back to get more info on a property, they didn't know hardly anything about it, only a stock outside photo on rightmove. Asked them to send more info to me they didn't. I chased again asked for a potential viewing and told sales would get back to me, nothing. Do they not actually want to sell properties? I feel sorry for anyone that uses this company to try and sell a property.

TrustpilotRented with these & never again....Avoid if you can, useless bunch!!
What a circus this is & plenty of clowns work there but they are all about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. They are quick to take your money but in no hurry to give it back & it took them a month & a half to get my deposit back to me & would have taken longer if i hadn't put a dispute in with the Tenancy deposit scheme.Repairs are as slow as the brains of the people that work there is no urgency & the majority of the time they just ignore your emails in the hope you'll go away, so unprofessional this lot.As long as i am living & breathing on this planet i will never have anything to do with this useless companyMy advice is to avoid at all costs & go elsewhere....

TrustpilotPoor service all round
Dealt with William H Brown recently with regards to valueing, selling a house, and buying a house and the service was poor all round. The valuer who came to meet us at our house was rude and unnaccomodating and tried to get us to pay more in selling fees than are appropriate. Then we tried contacting William H Brown on several occasions to arrange viewings of properties that had been recently added to market that we were interested to potentially buy. Getting hold of William H Brown via Web (trying to request viewings via rightmove etc) was impossible, and they never followed up with us. When we rang to enquire what was happening they said they'd call us back and they never did. When we finally did get a response it was to say the house had now sold, and we had missed out on it. This was caused by unprofessionalism at William H Brown. We will never be using William H Brown again.

TrustpilotDO NOT USE THEM
Really poor company. 20 week contract and no viewings. But worst of all not one phone call during the 20 weeks. Absolutely disgusted with them. Overvalued the property just to get the business. My cat is more proactive than them. I sincerely recommend you don't use this company which is part of the sequence group. However connells which is also part of the same group couldn't be better. WHB. couldn't give a flying fig about their customers.

TrustpilotPoor buyer experience
You will find out that this agency has a bad habit of missing to advertise the surface of the properties that they are selling. While this information can be found on the EPC certificate they manage to include only the graph part of it, so you will no be able to find it. When asked about the agents do say that they do not know it, assuming that your are stupid and not knowing that this information is always on the EPC certificate. Hiding information about the property seems to be part of their day to day job.

TrustpilotA year on and I am still furious with this company
My story actually happened nearly a year ago but I think its worth a read. In 2014, my partner and I decided to rent an apartment through WHB. We viewed the apartment (priced at £525 a month) and were happy with its condition. We told WHB we would take the apartment and just under a week later went in to their office (leicester) to sign for the property. No sooner had our pens left the paper, the sales advisor said 'has the landlord told you about the leak?' We didn't know what she meant but it turns out that there had been a water leak from an upstairs property into our flat on the ceiling. What was funny, was that we later learned the landlord was not allowed our contact details, so I have no idea why they'd asked if the landlord had told us anything as he wasn't legally allowed to! Anyway, they informed us the leak was 'a small brown stain on the ceiling' so we said as long as it was patched up promptly we didn't mind. To cut a long story short, when arriving in the property we found there to be thick black mould everywhere! Something which obviously had been much worse than we were told. To add insult to injury, we were told the inventory had not came through yet (which ironically contained pictures of this mess) so we didn't get any inkling of the damage until we saw it for ourselves. WHB were extremely unhelpful, making us feel 'annoying' for ringing up to complain and the work was eventually sorted ourselves. At the end of our tenancy our problems were not over when we did not receive our deposit back for three months. Numerous calls were made to WHB and I was hung up on twice when asking where our £700 was. We finally got £650 back after having to give them £50 to clean the carpets which we'd already paid to clean. Awful company, complete bandits.

TrustpilotViewing properties
I have rung up William h brown numerous times in the last month to try and view 2 different properties. Each time I rang the agent took my details and assured me that someone would call me back to book my viewing. Over two weeks later and I've had no phone call. I won't be buying a house through William H Brown that is for sure.

TrustpilotVery poor service and communication
Very poor service and communication. - Would always promise to ring back and let us know. Never did. - Did not research the vendors properly, meaning we spent £1500 for no reason. - No communication. - Often gave erroneous excuses for things that were not ever plausible. - Spoke with management team who ignored my e-mails. With the number of estate agents on offer, I would strongly advise going elsewhere.

TrustpilotBad Agency to work with
when i was looking for a flat, william H Brown had a good house in high street in braintree.
So i apply for that flat, and after a fortune payed to fees and inventory i finally rent that flat.
After one month i had a pipe that blow up, i call to the landlord and came to fix next day, they made a hole on my hall to fix the pipe and they left it open. the told me was just for a few days bust after six months i still had that hole 1 meter by 1 meter, and imagine me with 1 year child at home and having that. I called many time to the landlord and the answer was always the same we will fix soon as possible, and they were building another flat on the top of mine(funny hein), i called to the agency and they told me they can't do nothing, know i'm asking why we rent a house on agency? just to pay fees nothing else?? no that is william h Brown policy i found another agency that don't work like them if a have an issue i just call them and they call to the landllord to fix my issue because they have some standards for landlords.
But when i saw hey will never come to my flat and fix the problem, i started looking for another flat and i found one cheaper and better. when i call to the landlord i was living his flat he told me you can't because you still have one month contract lol so i rent the other house and one day i went to my flat and was missing my laptop, tv , bike and 100 pounds. was the landlord who done it, i called him return my items and he didin't wont i dont know why, so i went to the police and after one day i had all my items, was the first and the last time i rent something on william h brown
