Google100% recommend Percival & Company - after using a rubbish estate agent for my sale, I wish I had picked Percival as they were amazing to work with for my purchase. Georgina was so easy to speak to, to get hold of and a pleasure to work with ! She really helped get the whole chain across the line towards the end, when other agent/solicitors were not as helpful or bothered! When it’s time to move on from our new purchase, I will not hesitate in using Percival as my agent.

FacebookI could not recommend Percivals enough for helping with the stress of moving home. Georgina was amazing and the driving force behind keeping things moving within the chain. Communication was fantastic, even on her days off! If I ever move home again I will call Percivals over any other local estate agents.

GoogleI am very grateful to all the staff of Percival and Co for being able to finally move out. Their help and recommendations for a Broker and Solicitor were exactly what I needed. I was also very surprised how easy they made the process given that most of it was online, something I was hesitant about before. If given the opportunity I would definitely recommend them to family and friends!

I wouldn't waste your time. Expressed interest in a commercial rental, appt was double booked so we viewed with another interested party at the same time. A cheap trick. Never bothered to follow up and seemed totally uninterested when we called again. We have since found out that the landlord only wants to rent for 1 year. Something not mentioned by the agent (perhaps deliberately) Who wants a commercial let for 1 year.... avoid. There are much better agents out there.

GoogleMyself and my family have worked with Percival and Company for 50+ years and their service and support has been outstanding for all of them! Over the years we’ve worked on complex land sales, residential sales and rentals together, we’ve encountered challenges along the way but having always relied on Percival’s expert knowledge and understanding of the market to successfully see us through. Our rental properties remain with them today. We find Percival’s proactive, quick to respond and very much appreciate their solution focussed approach. Would highly recommend.

GoogleAgent was extremely dismissive of serious issues and enabled negligence from the landlady. They do not respect tenants - very biased towards the owners of the properties they rent out!

GoogleEternally grateful to Georgina & Claire at Percivals. Thanks to their amazing efforts and constant communication we were able become homeowners in the most amazing village. Moving as most people know is one of the most stressful things you can do, our move was laced with hurdles and issues (none of which was coming from Percivals). However Georgina and the team would always help to guide us and at times when we believed the move wasn't possible they provided hope. To say they went above and beyond is still putting it lightly. They have been fantastic the whole way through, In particular Georgina who we dealt with on an almost day to day basis. They kept us up to date with how both sides were progressing throughout, which as someone who is new to the whole process I found very reassuring. GoogleMany thanks to Georgina and the team for all their hard work handling the sale of our property, always remaining positive and upbeat which made the whole process a pleasure (as much as selling a house can be anyway!). We chose Percival and Company because when we’d viewed properties with Georgina B we’d always felt relaxed and not being sold to and wanted anyone viewing our property to feel the same way. The whole team (Georgina F and Claire) seem to have the same calm and friendly approach. They also live in Earls Colne and with our property attracting buyers from London we felt having people sell it who could also sell the village was a big bonus. Our house was sold to the first viewer at close to the asking price in a week and completed within 3 months. Thanks once again Georgina and the team for all your hard working pushing the rest of the chain along when other agents and solicitors in the chain were dragging their feet. You earned your commission and deserved some of the other agents’ commission also! Great friendly local estate agent, totally recommended to anyone who wants a smooth and pleasant move.

FacebookWe recently were accepted on an offer we made for a property via a sealed bid, we were immediately pressed for our personal details including bank statements, identification, solicitors details etc. All of this was to be sent via email in an unsecured fashion which breaches GDPR, potentially leaving us open to identity fraud. We went along with this regardless and contacted solicitors immediately for conveyancing quotes. A week into the process, having called the office to attempt to speak to Georgina regarding the situation with the chain (which we later found out was extensive), we were given an ultimatum of only hours to provide solicitors details or the property would be offered forward. This was completely out of the blue and we were both at work at the time, it required us to take the afternoon off work to frantically obtain quotes in order to forward the solicitors details. We enquired with Percival regarding their conveyancing service advertised, they promptly forwarded a quote. This quote as it turns out was via Teams which is an intermediate company whom take a commission from the allocated solicitors which we were unaware of previously. The quote stipulated that it was strictly ‘no move, no fee’ and that under no circumstances other than change of instruction would we pay more money. We trusted and were happy with this, however when we were transferred to the solicitors, we realised we were completely mis-sold this service. The paperwork made very clear that there were extortionate added charges, the quote provided was not remotely tailored, also that we would in fact have to pay the solicitor for all work conducted in the event that the sale did not go through. I spent a whole day off work calling around trying to establish why our quote did not match the terms of business stated in the paperwork which we were asked to sign. I contacted Georgina whom informed me I must speak to the solicitor she had allocated, the solicitor was unavailable and so I eventually found the contact details for Teams and discussed the matter with them. Teams advised me that although it was clear the paperwork did not match our quote, that the terms regarding the charges did not apply and to just sign regardless. Obviously we were not happy to do this and found it to be very unprofessional. Teams advised me that unfortunately they had not yet created appropriate paperwork for the quotes being sold and we therefore informed them we were going to instruct another solicitor ourselves. Unfortunately, despite the fact that this set back had arisen through no fault of our own and to the contrary due to Percival’s lack of due diligence with whom they do business, we were again immediately met with threats and deadlines to provide alternative solicitors details within 3 hours. Both at work, we advised Georgina that we would take a day to provide this after sorting out the quotes we already had and checking that the company was a reputable one. This apparently was not acceptable and we were not entitled to 24hrs to provide instructions. This despite the fact that Georgina agreed that the paperwork was unacceptable from the company they themselves had referred us to. We called by the deadline of the morning to provide solicitors details, apparently by 8am that morning, they had already offered the property to alternative purchasers and it was no longer acceptable to provide these details to them within the strict deadline they had provided us. All the above was despite the fact that the vendors had entered an extensive split chain which was open ended, with absolutely no sign of them being remotely ready to move. We found them to be abrasive, rude and inpatient. It is our opinion that they had potentially received rival bids which were in the pipeline already as it was simply an impossibility that within hours and before the start of business they had already accepted another offer otherwise. Extremely unfair and inpatient, especially as we were purchasers without a chain and had to be patient with the vendors regarding their situation. **Since posting this review, I have received emails from Georgina telling me to remove it. It seems she has now also rallied all her fb friends to leave positive reviews due to mine, I sincerely hope client confidentiality is not being breached as I will be reporting their failure to comply with the Code Of Practice to the Property Ombudsman.
Unfortunately you are fully aware I have emailed detailing my complaint already. Georgina decided to respond to this herself instead. Therefore I have exhausted your ‘complaints procedure’ already.

GoogleOur first and last experience with an agent ( Claire) from the company were both unpleasant. Overall experience with this estate agent was negative.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I believe Claire visited you on Friday upon your Landlords request to inspect a condensation issue you had reported to your Landlord. At the time of Claires visit, the Managing Agent for the property was also present. Claire followed up on this visit with an email explaining her findings and if this email isnt clear, please do give her a call and she can run through the contents with you. As Claire explained, the advice she has given you, should help to resolve the issues you have reported to your Landlord.

GoogleOver a 1 year tenancy I found the staff rude and dismissive. I’m not expecting the world as estate agents are busy but some simple people skills and manners wouldn’t go a miss. This is a shame as the property I rented was lovely but the poor maintenance of it and general attitude of the agents meant I did not want to renew the tenancy. I would absolutely not recommend as a tenant however as a landlord it may be a better experience. Despite the general rep of franchised agents, in a month with them I have found them to be far more personable, approachable and willing to help.
