We are shortly to complete on purchasing a property in Dartmouth which we found whilst on a visit last autumn. The apartment was presented beautifully on Freeborns’ website through great imagery and a really informative video tour. Jeremy and Tom at Freeborns were helpful and flexible from the word go, organising two viewings for us whilst we were down in Dartmouth on a short break. Since our offer was accepted, Jeremy has been friendly, approachable and great to deal with; always punctual at viewings and quick to answer enquiries. As we are managing this purchase from afar, we have been grateful for his local knowledge and his recommendations of tradespeople, surveyor, etc. He was even happy to assist and attend a viewing when we needed to organise a site survey for future works. Freeborns have made the process of buying our little piece of Devon as pain free as possible. Thank you to Jeremy and the Freeborns team.

I can't recommend Freeborns highly enough. Tom, Josie, and Jeremy were incredibly helpful throughout the process of selling my house. Despite the very choppy market, Freeborns worked really hard to make the sale as smooth as possible and were very professional and friendly throughout.

Of all the estate agents we have used when looking for the next property Jeremy at freeborns have been the most helpful. His market knowledge of the local area was excellent. He was always punctual to all viewings and extremely polite and friendly. We choose to purchase outside freeborns area however I would buy through them in a heartbeat. Recently completed on a purchase in 7 weeks from offer to keys, which was far quicker than we ever expected in the midst of the pandemic. We found Tom and his team to be a breath of fresh air. An established family owned agency that is traditional, very honest and responsive.Would highly recommend and will definitely use again if or when we decide to move on.

Don’t rent from this estate. I did for two years. Fake photos before and after moving out. Badly condition houses. The builder was there so much when he eventually turned up then did a dodgy job

I would not recommend using either as landlord or tenant.During the initial stages of renting a property they do not relay the correct information which has an impact on the decision to whether to rent a property and believe tenants are overly critical with regard to the cleanliness of a property.I have rented a property through them where the bathroom has mould spores on tiles, grouting and Venetian blinds, food marks on kitchen cupboards, table and dirty windows and more. However, I am the one being difficult by pointing it out and providing picture proof!On moving in day they also had to be called regarding the meter reading which were not present or incorrect. The contract they have may be with the landlord but they should show a duty of care to the tenant.They are very slow to respond to contact made and generally a very poor customer services attitude.

Do not touch them / I made an offer on a commercial property for the full amount / 3 days later and with not even a courtesy reply to 3 emails asking for some response I finally get an email - not a phone call, an email to tellMe the clients now want £20k not £15k because 3 people had made offers - I accept this may be the landlords instruction BUT for the agent who had valued it just days ago to goAlong with this AND to deem an email toTell me as being acceptable is poor to say the least. Yes landlords want to make money - but making money is about a 2 way relationship, longevity and trust - this shows they have no interest in any of these and the agents defence of this shows the same for them tooClearly some estate agents haven’t changed their spots any more than leopards do

If something looks too good to be true it probably is. To fulfil my life long ambition to retire to Dartmouth, ten days ago I located a three bedroom flat in the town centre advertised by Freeborns for £700 per month. Yes in the centre of Dartmouth, wow!. A selection of interior photographs on the site clearly indicated that the property had been modernised, new fitted kitchen, new shower room, new carpets, recently re plastered and decorated throughout all for £700 pcm !!! I contacted Freeborns and requested a viewing. Although their office is a little over 200 metres from the property, after some negotiation I managed to arrange a viewing for the 26th February, 10 days after my first enquiry. They were very unhelpful and I could not understand why I couldn't view earlier, their first offer to view was early March. I live in the High Peak Derbyshire and necessitated a 4:30am start to enable the 530 mile round trip. On my arrival at the property I noted that it was not painted deep blue as per the Web picture but all white. The condition of the paintwork obviously many years old, tired and distressed and ready for another coat. On arrival of Ben, from Freeborns, I was ushered into the hallway that served the three flats in the building. He found it difficult to gain access due to the front door which had seen better days. On entering the flat I had travelled to view I was met with the immediate odour of damp. Immediately it was clear that this flat in its present condition was not that of the one advertised. Yes it was the property, but the interior was extremely tired, the walls were scuffed and screws protruding from most surfaces. In some of the rooms there was plaster missing a clearly caused by damp. The kitchen was such that I certainly would not wish to prepare food there, the bathroom appeared as if someone had just climbed out of the shower. The white sealant was of an orangey brown and was disgusting. I spent less than 3 minutes inside before I turned to Ben and informed him that I had travelled over 500 miles round trip to view a property that I would not keep my fishing tackle in. I told him that the photographs totally mis-represented the property, he was indifferent. It was deplorable. From the photographs on the web I was so keen to acquire the flat I was prepared to have placed a deposit without personally viewing the property. I had discussed the condition of the property with Natalie of Freeborns who had confirmed it was as shown on the web. This flat was obviously modernised many years ago and every time it became vacant/available the same photographs are being used. This situation was akin to selling a used motor car and placing a picture of a brand new motor car in the advert. Anyway before any of you end up being gullible as I to travel half the length of the country to view a property advertised by Freeborns, you have been warned.,
