Although the staff are polite and helpful they don't seem to have a scooby doo as to what's going on in relation to the properties they sell.
My wife and I lost a couple of thousand pounds due to issues with Land Registry, unavailable maintenance packs on service costings, solicitor costs etc.
On a vacant property with no chain we were no closer to exchange or completion after 3 months due to the lack of knowledge from all parties involved. Information not been shared and dealt with efficiently and a general disregard of costs involved for the buyer (myself).
There is a lot more to this story but I wouldn't want to bore you with it all and I'm actually glad to see the end of it.
The only advice I can give is make sure you get all the information you can regarding any costings or issues that may crop up first hand. Ask for land registry information before you proceed with solicitors and search fees.
The housing structure in the UK needs to be reviewed. Thousands of pounds of good peoples money is wasted due to poor work ethics.
