Wasted my time completely was not up…

Wasted my time completely was not up front as to the Sale details of property and that there was a third party Coporate Company involved.Found their team had a less than favourable attitude. They left me waiting on details as to why the Sale had fallen through only days after I had my offer accepted.

Wouldn't trust to even sell a loaf of bread

As a prospective buyer, Connells are the worst estate agency I have dealt with so far by a country mile.Viewed a property with them that, inevitably, was perfect. Throughout the viewing, we were told that the vendor was downsizing and hadn't found anywhere yet, but would take in offers and would review them all together once she had found and offered on another property. Fair enough, we thought. So imagine may absolute dismay when, 30 mins after the viewing, I phone to make an over asking price offer only to be told an offer had been accepted on the property that very morning. At no point was I informed about this during the viewing, and at no point was there an attempt to cancel my viewing. More alarmingly, Connells were more than prepared to forward my offer to the vendor, leaving the other party open to gazumping - clearly 'ethics' is nothing but a county in East England to Connells.Needless to say, I was gutted and it has put me off viewing any further properties with Connells no matter how perfect the property is. So as a potential buyer beware - the property you are viewing may not actually be available. I wouldn't trust them to sell me a loaf of bread.

Avoid in buying a property

For anyone interested in buying any property with Connell estate agency, don’t. I’ve been put on a list that apparently “expires after 10 days” for a property I wanted to view for the last two weeks. I called on the first week to see if I can view it yet but couldn’t as apparently they were “shielding” which is understandable. I called after the 10 days to be put back on the list to view it on the second week. When I called they already done all the viewings and that “suddenly” I disappeared off the list. I asked them to check both of them but their response back was that I wasn’t put down. Then denied all knowledge of me ringing when I have the call logs and emails. So if you’re considering this company, think twice before you do.

Fantastic ,polite and informative

Fantastic ,I applied for a mortgage ,the Building Society wanted a valuation. We were contacted by Connells and it was explained that there would be no cost to us, we were offered an appointment anytime over the following 4 days at a time convenient to us. We were sent a reminder email the day before. The Surveyor carried out a Covid screening call 10 minutes before the appointment and explained exactly what would happen. When he arrived he was friendly ,polite and very professional. When he was finished he explained that the report would go to the Building Society by the end of the day ,we got a firm mortgage offer the following day £20,000 above the previous valuation.Thank you very much Connells.

Expensive waste of money, unprofessional

We have had the misfortune of being forced to use Connells surveyors in Dundee 4 times now. In every case they have given at least 25% down valuations. In the most recent case the extraordinarily negative surveyor, Mark Westbrook, gave a 0% valuation for two different properties saying that they were in a high social housing usage area, without being able to provide a shred of evidence for the same. £1450 down the drain along with 5 months wasted! We now avoid all lenders that have Connels on the panel as they would otherwise destroy our business. They do not care what the market rate is, they are only keen to protect the bank regardless of low LTV which does that anyway.

Clearly incompetent

Why do Connell's valuers feel that it's acceptable not to actually provide you with a specific time for your appointment? Are they so incompetent that they cannot manage their diaries? Up until the evening before the appointment, we only had a 5 hour slot - this on a weekday where I had to try to manage my own working diary. The evening before, we were then given a one and a half hour slot - it is ridiculous that they refuse to be more precise. When I phoned on the actual morning, an hour before the time slot, they still refused to narrow it down. I am disgusted by the contempt that they showed to us which they clearly feel that they can get away with because it is our buyers who are their clients and we don't have the power to sack them and employ a more competent firm!Update: Connells have now undervalued our property by a staggering £25k, thereby causing the collapse of our chain - words fail me!Further update: our buyers successfully appealed against the Connells valuation, paying for a further independent valuation, which supported the selling price and showed how utterly inaccurate the Connells valuation was!

Constant harassment

Had a valuation with Connells which was pretty poor. Massively over valued my property (by 25%) and clearly was more interested in upselling rather than just doing what I was asking for and listing my property.I declined their business and wow... they have not stopped phoning me since. Several times per week from different phone numbers to avoid being blocked.Just to be clear - I will never do business with a company who cold calls me - especially one who harasses me constantly.Leave. Me. Alone.

Incompetent all around.

The only reason Connells gets one star, is that I eventually moved in to the place I bought. When making an offer, I was pressured to see Connells’ mortgage advisors. The guy said “If you go through us, you won’t have to chase anything” followed by timelines. As a first time buyer, I fell for it. I didn’t know what I was doing. They got me a mortgage and solicitor. A month later, I get a mortgage offer and tell my solicitor. 5 weeks after that, the solicitor still hadn’t gotten my mortgage offer. I spent 6 hours on the phone chasing things to find out Connells put the wrong solicitor on my application. The same happened with the valuation. The guy who said he would “chase everything” did not reply to my emails until I said they miss-sold their services. Then I had a brief flurry of activity. In the end, I had to threaten to walk away twice and it all came through in the end. I’m not sure what the point of their mortgage guy was (or my solicitor, who was arranged through them. A trainee solicitor was the one who pushed it through in the end.)

I would give 0 stars if possible

I would give 0 stars if possible. Wanted to book the viewing, the lady said they already have the offers and didn’t even let me to make my offer. After I spoke with the seller myself, she said that she even didn’t mention about my offer. By the end of the day, I was made over asking price offer but it was still refused. I assume that their staff just lazy and don’t wanna to make any sells. I would definitely avoid this agency in the future.

Lenders should stop using this company.

Mortgage lenders should seriously consider stopping using this company to conduct their valuations. Undervalued my property by approximately £20k - And it is only an £80k property. Thankfully a friend of mine who owns an estate agents sent me through the data on all the nearby recently sold houses on my road and nearby that clearly shows how much they have undervalued my property. I Have now sent it along with my other valuations to my broker who are currently appealing the valuation through the mortgage lender. Speaking to my tenants the valuer was there for only a few minutes and didn`t ask any questions about the property. Dear Connells - If you bother to read these reviews may I suggest you look at training your surveyors correctly as there are now multiple complaints about how you undervalue properties. You should be looking at your stars on here and realise something is wrong within your company.

Shameful Unprofessional Company

We are selling our home, and the purchasers bank has selected Connells to undertake the valuation. Connells seem to think it is perfectly reasonable for us to wait until the evening before the surveyor is due call before they provide us with a 2 hour window for him / her to call. When challenged as to why they cannot give a specific appointment time with plenty of notice I was told that this is the process and the most convenient for them. So no thought for the vendor then, we are just expected to give up a day, loose a days pay, and in my case loose a day volunteering at at local Covid vaccination centre because it it is more convenient for Connells. Shameful company with not concern about anyone else other than what is good for them.

Don't recommend

I wanted to share my experience with this agency. We went for viewing and put in an offer on the house, the agent said because it's Saturday the offer have to go through a manager - we thought fair enough we can wait till Monday. I had to chase them up to check whether this information has been passed (luckily it was but no one thought to inform me of that). I asked what's the rough time to find out whether the offer has been accepted or not - the manager/supervisor said 1-2 days. So we've waited, no call so had to chase them up on my own to find out they still have no answer. So we just gave up, and it's been 2 or 3 weeks since we made any contact with them and they're still haven't called or contacted us and stopped sending any properties that would match our criteria. I must say that if an agency is trying to sell the house they should be making all the attempts to trying to sell it and contact the buyer and inform them of progress/situation. BTW, the house never even appeared on the market so I assume the vendor doesn't even want to sell. Not impressed at all with how things were handled.

Had our address wrong for two years...

- Had all our numbers incorrect for two years ( three people ) even though we told them on a monthly basis to correct i.- Had our address wrong for two years, even though they're the ones who rent it... meaning that every handy man who travel to ours, went to the wrong address .. oh and couldn't phone us because the agency gave them the wrong number.- Forgot we were moving out, even though we told them multiple times, It wasn't until we requested information a week before we left where to leave the keys as the flat had changed ownership to another Conelles office.- Just straight up ignored 90% of all emails- Refused to give us our deposit back, because they couldn't get hold of the landlord, even though they had already agreed to move a new person in.. meaning they were able to get in contact...- Had to go through our deposit protection scheme to get it back eventually, also found out they never even bothered to check the flat and just moved the new tenants in.-When they rushed to get people over to view, they lied about how many viewings there would be, and also did not know what furniture was ours or not ( flat was fully furnished )- Would email me ( on more than one occasion ) stating that we owed them money, upon replying to said email asking, what exactly this was ( because they didn't state why ) they would reply stating.. oh they had made a mistake and we didn't owe them anything.- Never took our flat down in the estate agents window, that our flat had been "recently let" for over two years, it's still there ! and its not even managed by that branch anymore, how lazy do you have to be.-Oh and we had received multiple texts after we left from handymen stating when they would be coming to fix stuff ( still with the incorrect address !) ... but they never had our numbers, why did they have our numbers, AFTER we left-Finally when going through the deposit protection scheme to get our deposit back, it took many days of confusion to realise that Connells had put our address incorrectly on the website ! this caused much grief and stress because we were unable to provide the required information to the protection scheme company.EDIT - Update Feb 2021 - They removed the poster stating recently let ! only too over 2.5 years !

Seriously under-valued, serious flaws in valuation methodology

Like someone else said previously, if I could rate this company "0" I would. Our property was seriously undervalued to the tune of £30K. The surveyor communicated, "difficulties with this one, as there aren't any real comparable properties in the area", but despite these remarks, still went ahead using totally inappropriate "comparable" properties to determine the value of our home. The surveyor was at our property for no longer than 10 mins. If only I could take back that 10 minutes I would....stay away from this company, totally inept! If we'd known then, how inflexible, inappropriate and ineffective the method of valuing property that Connells employ would have on our ability to sell the house, I would not have allowed them to conduct the survey.Because of their under-valuation we lost a sale at full asking price and the potential buyer lost the opportunity to purchase their home!

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless! All they do is take their commissions and when things need to be sorted and work needs to be done they’re missing in action!!! Incompetent and unprofessional! Sadly, in this country it’s a common thing to have uneducated people doing whatever they want as there are no working laws… avoid at all cost if you can!!!

Tenancy team - Name and shame Sam Thompson

I must bring to the attention of viewers and SENIOR MANAGEMENT @Connells. My renewal of the tenancy agreement (Balsall Common CV7) has been pending since June. I have been emailing their staff but seems like staff are too lazy to even respond. No one gets back to you or updates you with any updates on government regulations. Apparently I am due a refund and my account details were shared ages ago. I never hear anyone confirming whether I will get one refund. Its the worst customer service. I really would NOT recommend any sensible person to use their services. They are a waste of time.

Bryan Douglas from their Glasgow office…

Bryan Douglas from their Glasgow office an absolute joke. No customer service skills whatsoever. Attended at my property this morning and from the outset he was rude and determined not to enter my house. His excuse was that there was a workman in my property who was not wearing a mask. The truth was the workman was outside on the drive when he arrived no reason whatsoever for him not to attend. He was ignorant and obtuse. I decided to give him another chance and rebooked for next week then received a call to say he is refusing to attend my house. Absolutely no professionalism at all from him. Notice there are lots of other awful reviews about him. Is it not about time Connells sat up and took notice that their employee lacks professionalism and indeed manners

Outstanding service from Connels Coventry mortgage advisor Holly Savage

I used Connels for my mortgage/ financial advice. My contact was Holly Savage in Coventry and I can honestly say that she gave an outstanding service and supported me through every step of the process. She gave me the best mortgage deal I could get, was really friendly and also helped me with the solicitor process. Because I was a first time buyer this process was exciting but also scary. Holly reassured me and guided me through the process. I could not have asked for a better mortgage advisor and will be using her service again in the future.

We were asked to contact Connells by…

We were asked to contact Connells by our house purchaser so that they can do a valuation survey on my elderly mother's house. My mother is 89 with various medical conditions, so we would need an appointment at a time that someone else can be on site, but Connells said that they could not arrange an appointment at a specific time. Furthermore, they said that they could not get a surveyor to phone me the previous day(s) because they don't know who would be allocated the job. This is not acceptable, because I would need to run through various Covid procedures in advance to protect my mother, as we would probably want to take my mother out after the surveyor arrives. Connells have lousy customer service, so best to avoid!

Tried to illegally force us into a new contract

They tried to illegally risk us becoming homeless. They sent us an email saying our tenancy was coming to an end in 3 months and would we like to sign a new contract (subject to our landlords approval) I said we would like to stay on a rolling contract, but after 2 months of chasing and being told they can't get hold of the landlord they finally tell us over the phone that the landlord isn't looking to renew our contract. We have since been told by the council that we should have been given a section 21 and 6 months notice to vacate the property. We were due to move into a new property in 2 days however the landlord has given us a bad reference but today has offered us a new 12 month contract with themselves to stay in the property. Both Connells and the landlord are playing dumb when I said that we have the council involved and sought legal advice. The house has a lot of issues that we picked up on viewing and were told would be fixed but never were.

DO NOT Use this company

DO NOT Use this company. I would have given no stars for if I could. They are a bunch of jobsworths whose inflexibility in disclosing to us information which they had used in the survey we had instructed them to carry out and which we had paid for, meant we were unable to appeal a lower valuation placed on our purchase property by the mortgage lender. We ended up homeless and all we got from the surveyor was ‘we have never been asked to disclose this information to a customer before, we don’t have a policy around it and therefore we don’t want to do it.’

Hi all please stay away from these lot at any cost they are just bunch of bullies and should not be allowed to do the business, we made an offer over asking price and owner was happy to accept the offer but Connelly's then said if we don't buy other services from them e.g solicitor, mortgage than we have got no chance of buying this property I don't know how they are even allowed to do that.

Job for the boys !

Awful, I don’t think these guys could value a toilet if it was in a shop with the price on ! I’m not sure what comparable they are using for market sales and values but it’s completely inaccurate, the agent doing the survey was rude, unapproachable, slammed every window and door so hard it shuddered the home despite the windows and doors been upvc and new ! , Complete joke of a value, downgrade of 50k from market value causing severe problems for lending etc , no evidence to support the value either ! Rubbish
