Bridgefords are the worst estate agents…

Bridgefords are the worst estate agents i have ever come across, i am so glad i did not decide to sell my house with them! They never answer the calls, constantly leaving voicemails, very rarely they call you back! I viewed a property with them a week or so ago & no follow up phone call the following day, I wanted to make an offer , left several voicemails & nothing! Please avoid Bridgefords at all costs. They are the worst estate agents i have ever come across. Please stay away!

STAY AWAY I have had a very poor experience with Bridgfords. I live over 250 miles away from my rental property but I can honestly say I could have done a better job at managing the property myself compared to Bridgfords. I pay 13% a month and they do not collect rent on time, do not send contractors out on time, do not update me with anything. My tenant actually emailed me on several occasions as Bridgfords were not doing their Job. Whatever you do, please look at other estate agents and stay away. Nathan and Anna were decent and put in effort. Adele does not care neither does the manager - Mark I think his name is. I have learned this lesson the hard way

Valuation?? They can't be bothered!

Booked in a valuation with Bridgfords. They called the following morning at 830 which was very efficient. Was advised over the phone that this would take 30 minutes. Had a phone call from the Sale branch on the morning of the appointment. Asked if i intended to put my house up for sale, said it would be dependent on the equity we have in the house. He said the valuation would take and hour and a half and he could send a virtual valuation. It sounded like the guy couldn't be bothered at all. If this is the level of experience you get from someone that is trying to get your business, I would hate to think about the experience you would have selling through this place. Really poor service!

Have reported manager to property…

Have reported manager to property ombudsman. Bridgfords agreed a one percent sale fee to sell grandmothers property. The branch manager, Tammi Moulton, then completed the sale contract on our behalf, changing the fee to 'percentage of asking price' without consent - leading to an increase in fee by hundreds of pounds. This is, of course, unethical, illegal and we are challenging this. Add this to poor service, poor marketing of the property, and poor attitude of the staff members, in particular Tammi Moulton, and I don't think it is possible to find a worse estate agent in Staffordshire. Needless to say, I would avoid using.

Landlords (and tenants!) - avoid this agent

To use a phrase, Bridgfords / Countrywide are an omnishambles, when it comes to being a landlord's agent. Landlords - Do yourselves and your tenants a favour and choose a different agent. You will end up doing just as much work managing Bridgfords (actually Countrywide) as you would managing any issues directly yourself. Two particular incidents that wound me up were when they charged us for work done by a decorator, which the decorator later admitted was never carried out; and secondly after forgetting to charge a tenant for costs due to them, they charged us instead, after deposit refund - without agreement or notice (money they still refuse to refund).

Got bored of chasing them

Called multiple times to try and get a viewing booked in. Was told multiple times someone would call me back. Got bored of chasing them. They seemed far more interested in getting me to speak to their mortgage broker, and I hadn’t even viewed any houses with them yet! I have no idea how they manage to sell any houses. Quite clearly a load of sales people trying to hit targets and not actually that bothered about selling houses.

Absolutely awful letting agents, I would absolutely recommend people avoid at all costs. I was left to live with damp/mould and contaminated water coming into my flat for 18 months. It was only when I got the council involved to serve enforcement that progress was made. Absolutely shocking and Countrywide were just as bad, the “maintenance team” don’t progress anything. Terrible experience of renting through Bridgfords from start to finish.

Well what I can say! SHOCKING SERVICE.

Well what I can say!! After 7 years we have had enough and made the decision to move after countless problems. I am now having to move away from the area I grew up in and also I have to let my pet dog go after all the problems and YES BRIDGFORDS YOU ARE TO BLAME!!!! When we moved into the property it was just about habitable, it should not of been presented in the way it was but we were desperate. Over the years we improved the property ourselves and made it a nice home and we genuinely felt at home. Problems included heating pump problems, shower problems, we were left without a gas hob for 6 weeks, had to live practically off ready meals. Roof leaks, boiler problems which take weeks or even months to resolve. The penultimate decision to move was made when we were left without heating over the Christmas period, the house ended up like an ice box to the extreme causing massive distress to us and our young children, but they just don't care, waiting days and days for quotes to be accepted. Money comes before Health and Safety with these guys and to top it off we are being harassed to arrange viewings for new tenants, absolute joke. Unlucky for them is that I know property law, probably better than them and I have the right to refuse access to them until tenancy agreement ends. No one from the agency has ever been out to inspect the property in 7 years but they are willing to show people around, for they all know the property could be trashed. Absolutely unprofessional, some staff should be nowhere near the business of real estate. I think they think that payment of rent is just for the property, its not you pay rent for a service to which you do not get! DO NOT RENT A PROPERTY FROM BRIDGFORDS. Its just a shame it has come to this but they are to BLAME FOR IT ALL!! SIMPLE. GOOD LUCK TO WHOEVER MOVES IN!!

They will try and squeeze as much money out of you as they can

Only 2 issues were ever followed up on out of the roughly 20 issues we reported and that was the broken window and the broken front door. To get the dishwasher replaced it took over 3 months of calling twice a week. Don't be surprised if the person in charge of your tendency at Bridgfords is only leave every time you call. When we complained bout how filthy the apartment was when we moved in we were told by the manager of the Manchester office "well its not going to get a £500 clean". It didn't look like they spent £50 to cleaners. When we spoke to the land lord on it they said Bridgfords took hundreds off the previous tenants to have it cleaned. where that money went I'm sure was to bridgfords profit margains. On moving out we left the place exceptionally more clean than how we got it but still got a very long detailed report of how dirty it was and complained about the issues we reported when we moved in but they never fixed. Bridgfords said this about our deposit on checkout "I would advise that the landlord has decided to proceed with the works themselves, and therefore the offer of £100 to be deducted is a lot less than if we had arranged for the works to be organised through one of our contractors, which was previously advised by myself as a result of the checkout report."They admittedly said they would have charged us a lot more if the landlord did not intervene.when I provided proof of the damage they wanted to charge us for they said I can appeal but it can take 3 months, which I'm sure they know most people need there old deposit to pay for a new one. we did not appeal because of thisI viewed the apartment, it was a nice apartment but dirty we were promised it would be cleaned. On move in day, the apartment looked like it got a quick wipe of a mope and the garbage was taken out. Apart from that it was filthy. Dirt, cobwebs and cigaret puds on the balcony. cupboards were stained. Carpet was was torn around the edges. toilet seat was dirty and heavily stained with fake tan. paint splattered on worktops. dishwasher broken, window broken, wouldn't close. all the furniture in the bedrooms were half broken, drawers fallen down on top of each other the base of some drawers split. couch high stools and tiles were all filthy. oven not properly cleaned thick grease around the seal. carpet stained, curtain very stained.Throughout out tendency we had the following issues, mould growing in bathroom, worktop seal lifting, carpet getting progressively more frayed on the edge where it was coming away fro the seal.

Negative experience unfortunately.

Negative experience unfortunately. While they sold my house and met their contractual obligations, the communication and service from Pauline was poor.Close to completion, I spoke to the manager Nicola, evidenced the issues I faced and I offered what I believed to be a fair 80%. Unfortunately she didn’t agree, which meant it was escalated to the ombudsman. The ombudsman agreed to my 80% “As a gesture of goodwill In recognition of the communication issues faced and visits to my property without prior consent”.Very disappointed with the service but was more disappointed that the Macclesfield branch would accept no responsibility and see things through my eyes when I tried, amicably, to reason with Nicola and provided evidence. People make mistakes and things happen in business, but she was having none of it and for me it was the principle of the matter.Based on other Macclesfield position reviews this may well have been a one off, I’ve purchased before with Pauline and she was great then. One advice I would give is don’t be afraid to speak up to them - even if they don’t reply to you - it’s your sale, time and money and you have a right to receive good communication. I regret not escalating things earlier in the process.

Bridgfords Stockport

Bridgfords Stockport, dealt with Katherine Hancock who was unbelievably unhelpful. First of all told me i couldnt cancel as i was in a 12 month contract which was untrue it was a 6 month contract.Said i had to give 2 months notice as i could only give a month from my billing date, which was wrong again.Kept advising i needed to speak to my landlord for issues they could deal with. Finally i left my flat in better condition than when i entered. Landlord wont return deposit, when asking Bridgford to help they've advises its nothing to do with them.

Avoid

Unfortunately, i read these reviews quite late and I am in agreement with all the negative opinions about Bridgfords Withington. We tried to buy a flat, but when we told them that we have our own mortgage advisor, the communication stopped. When we tried to get updates, they would try to discourage us to continue. They went on making an offer for our maximum budget, despite only having 1 additional buyer who offered 25k less than us. Dishonesty/ lack of transparency and totally unprofessionalism, especially Richard/ Hammad. I am happy I did not use their services, and I now select properties which are not in their portfolio. Quite sure the seller has received a lower offer as well, which is a shame as the flat was superb. Avoid!

We were met by a very professionally presented young man named Nathan. We arrived a little late to the viewing and apologised for our lateness. Nathan very politely brushed off the apology, insisting that there was no need. The viewing started with the general small talk of where did you travel from and so on and so forth. Nathan then showed us to the flat remaining extremely professional, giving us enough space to privately look around the property yet just close enough to answer any questions that we threw at him. He is a very intelligent and clued up young man. Definitely and asset to his organisation. Nathan was not pushy at all, he was extremely respectful and patient. The property was absolutely delightful, and we said we would take it straight away. Without a moments pause he reassured us that he is cancelling all other viewing and will call us when he gets back to the office to start our application. We took a stroll in the area, adiring it's beauty and just at we arrived back at the car, may I add after office working hours were over, Nathan called and started it process for us. So far it had been a seemless process and we are very much looking forward to moving into our new home.PositiveQuality, Professionalism

Thank you very much to Georgia at Bridgfords for helping us to find exactly what we were looking for. We told Georgia what we had in mind, our price range and preference of area and as soon as something came up that she thought suited us she contacted us straight away. Georgia was professional and so helpful throughout and we would definitely use Bridgfords again. Nothing was too much trouble, from viewing houses to filling out paper work, Georgia made the whole progress simple and enjoyable. Thanks so much!PositiveProfessionalism

I would just like to say a massive thank you to Nathan at Bridgfords Estate Agents Darlington for helping us find our first rental in the UK. He was extremely informative and willing to explain everything we weren't sure about as we are originally from South Africa and some of the terminology used is different to what we are used to. Great to deal with someone who is willing to take the time. Thanks again Nathan. 5 starsPositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

Early days yet but initial dealings have been very positive and I feel confident that the right company has been used to rent our property, time is the big test of course but so far very good from all the staff at the Darlington branch. Its 3 years on now (may 2021) and i have just dealt with Georgia in finding a new tenant for my property, first class service from this young lady ,knowledgeable and pleasant.

Oliver went above and beyond from our initial contact and couldn't have done any more for us. Regular contact and quick responses.

I am a new landlord and was not sure what to expect in this new venture of mine. Looking for a management company to manage my property I sent emails to three different agents. Max from Bridgfords replied back with a comprehensive email, detailing the services they offer and what to expect by using them. I knew straight away that Bridgfords was the way for me after that email. Before I completed on the property purchase, Max had already been to survey the property area and talked to the neighbours. After purchase, Max picked the keys up from the sales agent and had a let agreed on the property in less than 2hrs! Max is very proactive and kept me informed through out. He is also extremely easy to deal with and goes straight to the point! If this is the type of service Bridgfords offers (looking at the other reviews) it seems like it is, I'd look no further for all my property management service. Massive thank you Bridgford!PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
