TrustpilotAbsolute joke
Emailed to ask for a viewing of a house, was called by (apparently) the head office and told it would be booked in. We arranged our day around the viewing and got excited to view what looked like a really lovely house. I got a bad feeling the day we were meant to view it as I hadn't had any confirmation email and was told that I hadn't been booked in at all. I then asked to book it in for another evening and my details were taken this time. Again, arranged our day around the viewing, didn't receive a confirmation email. Rang again and was told that it hadn't been booked in, they didn't have my details on the database and the vendor had said they only wanted people that were ready to buy to view the house and because mine is going through the process of being put on the market, that I couldn't view it. Absolute joke. Wasted so much of our time. AND they had the balls to ask if we needed an estate agent to put our house on the market - as if I would go anywhere near them now. Will be avoiding any houses that are being sold by them now and in the future.

TrustpilotChippenham Office, Unprofessional, Rude and dishonest.........
We have been renting from Allen & Harris for 4 years. We have constantly been spoken to like dirt, treated poorly, ignored when we've brought up several issues within the house, the upstairs bath leaking through the downstairs light fixture(which went on for 2.5years), the upstairs toilet flooding the bathroom, the garden gate is all rotten, leaving open access to our garden and they are refusing to replace this. Everytime we've spoken to them they have been rude, they've hung up on us in the past too. Our hot water stopped working, several other issues with the boiler , we went weeks without hotwater, we had to get a plumber and pay out of our own pocket, which they refused to refund. They have breached data protection by sending emails with our information in it.Now that we are moving out , they are dismissive of us , and pushing us out of the door. The female staff are the absolute worst to speak to. Very very unprofessional. I will never ever rent or buy from them !! Please avoid!!

TrustpilotGreat service!
Used Allen and Harris Abingdon for my mortgage. Dealt with Aaron who was brilliant very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and actually went above and beyond in the service he delivered by giving me some great advice concerning landlord insurance. Would highly recommend using Aaron if you need a mortgage.

TrustpilotUnreliable and untrustworthy.
Unreliable and untrustworthy. This company has been a source of frustration for ourselves and our landlord. We had viewings deceptively organised behind our backs while living in the property, under the guise of agents being allowed to take photos. We also confirmed our deposit return with our landlord and agent and then received no deposit or response for over two weeks. My wife was told today after getting in touch it was not there responsibility, until we provided screenshots of the same agent who lied to us previously explaining he would communicate with the landlord and get back to us then failed to do so.Completely inconsistent, incredibly stressful, unprofessional and no accountability. I would advise caution before working with or renting through this company.

TrustpilotBest estate agents
We had a really good experience with Allen and Harris team, we are based up north and getting viewings on a Saturday was always a difficult thing for us , but this team never let us down , always accommodated us and were very courteous namely John and Alex who helped us out . Big yes to go with them!!Regards Zubair

TrustpilotWe asked them if the property had any…
We asked them if the property had any structural issues, and even though they knew it had, they told us the opposite. We found out later when the property information form came through. So they basically breached their legal duty. So I incurred costs and survey fees, which I am now trying to reclaim back from them, but they even make this difficult. Shameful estate agent, the kind that reaffirm everyone's opinion of estate agents.

TrustpilotSpoke with Laura to ask for a home…
Spoke with Laura to ask for a home report which I have still not received. I think she really hates her job because every-time I’ve called and she’s answered the phone she sounds like she would rather not be there. I have actually changed my mind about even buying a house form Allen and Harris because if you let someone like that answer the phone with no motivation to help your customers then I can only imagine the service you must provide. My brother has called to enquire about another property and the same Laura answered the phone and he has also changed his mind about getting a property. So congratulations yous have lost out on 2 potential deals. Staff should not be hired if they don’t like their job.

TrustpilotSaw a property yesterday in Broomlands…
Saw a property yesterday in Broomlands st paisley, agent who showed up was the most unprofessional person I have delt with. She wouldn't even come through the property with us. Claimed there was a "smell" inside. Wasn't sure how long property was on the market. Didn't give us a business card or information about property. She didn't even shake my hand or say goodbye. I didn't realise estate agents got paid to stay outside the property. She (Lauren) is definitely not a very good representative for your business.

TrustpilotAllen & Harris, Abingdon
In the 5 months we were on with Allen & Harris, we didn't have many viewings (pre the market slowing down). After viewings, the agent gave us false hope on many occasions which always turned to nothing. I can say, however, that once Holly took on our property, she did her best to get people through the door, she always kept us informed and gave feedback quickly afterwards. Even though we didn't sell with them and moved to another agent, we couldn't fault Holly's enthusiasm in doing great job

TrustpilotDon't go ANYWHERE near this company
Currently trying to get back £11,000 despite my tenancy ending two weeks ago and ignoring all my requests for it to be returned. So stressful. SO unethical. I am furious with how I've been treated by this company. The worst renting experience I've ever had. My landlord is an abusive bully who mocks, insults and abuses me in emails with Allen & Harris copied in. She has been doing this for months. Allen & Harris seem to accept this behaviour and at no point have asked my landlord to speak to me politely, despite the fact that I flagged multiple times how much the bullying treatment was affecting me and mental health. Allen & Harris seem to view tenant bullying as acceptable. If you raise any issue about your tenancy, they like to remind you that they 'work for the landlord, not the tenant'. They are this brazen and this shameless. You really need to know your rights inside out when renting from these people as they will take advantage of you if they can. There's no human decency or ethics involved; it's all about money. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone who is new to renting at all (tbf, I don't recommend them anyway).Personally, having been a landlord, I would never want my tenants to be mistreated and exploited and made unhappy on my behalf. I actually believe in being decent to people, not just extracting as much money as possible from them while subjecting them to misery.I terminated my tenancy early and I am still waiting for overpaid rent and my deposit back despite my tenancy ending two weeks ago. I've had to raise a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Service as Allen & Harris refuse to return my deposit to me and are ignoring me and screening my calls. When I called them and got through, the moment I said who I was they went quiet. I could hear background noise but they simply decided not to converse with me! Utterly childish, unprofessional and appalling behaviour.Once these people have your funds, they DO NOT CARE. They will cause you as much stress as possible and they don't care about the impact on your mental health. The lack of engagement is staggering. Calls, emails, texts, all go ignored. They will push you to breaking point and then offer you a breadcrumb of communication. It is PATHETIC and the staff need to grow up. If they think they can treat people like this without consequence, they are wrong. The Property Ombudsman exists for a reason and I am making a formal complaint. This whole experience has been one of the most stressful, abusive and unpleasant I have ever had. I wish I had never ever picked up the phone to inquire about the property. The whole experience has been absolutely appalling. I truly can't believe how badly I've been treated. I am done with renting now. Allen & Harris have shown me just how exploitative, abusive and awful it can be. I'm fully done. Avoid.

TrustpilotVery unprofessional
Very disappointed with my experience with this agent. Arranged to view a rental property in Farringdon. The first agent I spoke with over the phone was great, she was very helpful in arranging a date and time and follow up communication to confirm was spot on.On the day I dealt with a different agent who was very unprofessional. Firstly he was not there on time. He eventually arrived 15min late as the next person was also arriving for their viewing, no apologies or explanation given. While I was waiting I called the office twice and was told each time that he should be there and they’d message him. As I was about to leave to attend another viewing in the area his car pulled up.As the agent was late, I had very little time to view the property. To make matters worse, the agent had clearly not properly arranged access to the property for the viewing. The occupants were in, completely unaware that there would be viewings that day, and in the middle of packing their belongings ahead of their move. This meant that there was limited access to the flat, and it was difficult to judge it as a potential tenant. And once inside the property the agent seemed to be more of a shadow than anything useful. Nothing was said to try and showcase the good features of the property or about anything really. I asked a couple of questions and the occupants answered these rather than the agent. I also asked about the application process, the agent gave scant details and has not followed up with any useful information via email, text, phone call or business card as I have experienced through other ‘professional’ letting agencies. Before attending the viewing this was one of my favourite properties, and the property itself may be fine, but my brief experience with such an unprofessional person has tainted my view of this letting agent. It may be that this is a one off occurrence and maybe they do have other ‘professional’ staff, but this experience has put me off dealing with this company. To sum up: disorganised, unpunctual, poorly informed and completely unprofessional Avoid!!!

TrustpilotDon't use A & H as a landlord
They don't complete what they say they will complete and when they will complete it. I am disappointed with myself that I didn't just complete the process myself to find a tenant - It would have been less stressful than trying to manage the agents and filter through what information is actually truthful and correct.

TrustpilotAs a rule I do not normally do reviews
As a rule I do not normally do reviews: although in this case I’ll make an exception:Allen&Harris have been absolutely amazing after taking over as sole Agents the sale of my home I cannot not praise them enough From the time they picked up the baton from a wasteful fourteen weeks with a another agent “in days Allen&Harris had their sign for Sale up outside the door”, another couple of days passed and the photographer was at the house taking photos very professionally accomplished I cannot praise the whole team enough from Vicky’ who was at the helm and Melonie’ sales administrator and other team members the whole operation was as smooth as silkI was also introduced to a solicitor who handled my affairs on the conveyancing side with swiftness and professionalism taking a lot of the usual pressures out of my hands Every step of the sale was impressive keeping me notified every step of the way even notifying me of scheduled appointments to the house of interested viewers: not unusual you may think however they have the keys am I am on holiday. Further communication can be had via their Website whereby your able to keep up with up to date statusDon’t do the same as me and waste fourteen weeks choose “Allen&Harris”.

TrustpilotIf I could leave a zero I would
If I could leave a zero I would. As a tenant I have had the worst experience with this company. No communication whatsoever. Arrived to my new home to discover a bulging ceiling from leak, condemned Boole so no heating during December, the property had not been cleaned so was foul smelling and the drain was severely blocked. I’ve reported all this to them and they still haven’t fixed the drain which has now resulted in the property flooding and causing damage to my appliances and wooden furniture. Phoned on Saturday morning as soon as I was able and was fobbed off. I have had no one to contact and been sat in my damp house with the squelching carpets and kitchen flooor all this for £800 a month. Bloody joke

If i could i would leave zero star. They misled me, at the first meeting and valuation, promised things but didn't deliver, they encouraged me to accept the first offer as buyers were cash buyers, this turned out it was not the case. The deal fell through when allegedly my buyers buyers pulled out, two weeks before the moving date. Most untrustworthy agents I've ever dealt with, I'm disabled, with several chronic illnesses, the whole experience made me very ill, from August 2022 to date 8th Jan 2923 I'm still in my home surrounded by boxes packed up to move.ZERO STARS FROM ME

TrustpilotFirst time buyer so definitely lacking…
First time buyer so definitely lacking in experience when shown around the property I was interested in August. When I went to view the property I got a very lack luster response from the employee showing me around. I went ahead and made an offer at asking price on the property I was informed another party was interested and it went to best and final. My offer on a property was accepted. On rightmove it never said sold stc and as I started the process of giving my information etc and paying for searches. I learned about two weeks later that even after my offer had been accepted the previous person that had placed an offer also had placed a higher offer but that the owners were sticking with me. I started getting worried and was trying to move the process ahead to buy the property best I could. A month of so into the process Allen and Harris contacted me again to say that the owner was no longer going with my offer and yet again the other bidder had increased there offer. They asked if I was willing to go higher and I stated I was at the top of my budget as is. They than went ahead with this other party. This week in November I received a call to say the property was back up for sale. I quickly said I was not interested and buying a different property. I thought from start to finish with them they where very unprofessional and the specific employee I dealt with was not particularly interested in dealing with me and wanted a better price on the property probably for her own benefit.

TrustpilotAbsolutely abysmal service
Absolutely abysmal service. Have been trying to get my tenancy deposit returned since early October. Been sent round the houses, calling offices in Newport and Newcastle with no joy. No answer from the Lettings dept so have to call Sales. Both advisor and office manager not prepared to listen to my concerns, instead resort to talking over me and then have the audacity to call me abusive. Requested complaints info, have called but no answer. This is MY money they are holding on to. I can't get it back

TrustpilotWhere do I start
Where do I start? What an unprofessional shower the westbury office are! It started with them booking the wrong photographer for listing the property (wrong camera so we had to go through 2 photography sessions). Branch and assistant managers turning up late for viewings. Turned branch manager away as he turned up half way through me showing a purchaser the house, so I thought no point in him being there half way through. Potential buyers not vetted properly or checks in place to make sure they already had a mortgage in principle from a lender. I’m sure they just let anyone with a pulse view the property. Last insult was 2 offers received and not one was negotiated to nearer the property asking price. Why appoint a “negotiator” if they can’t negotiate. Total waste of time appointing this company in my view!

sold my house through allen and harris. intial estimate was higher than anyone else's, it should have rung alarm bells. I went with them but after two months no offers so had to drastically reduce the price. Once the sale was agreed they only seemed interested in the buyer. Had a weeks notice to move out as they were bending over backwards for the buyer. All in all a very miserable experience that left me feelinh ripped off and used

Booked a viewing for a property we were interested in buying which was promptly canceled without a call to explain why, but my wife and I have had multiple calls every day for two weeks pestering us to sell with them. Bordering on harassment if I'm honest. I've asked them to remove our contact details from their database, but the calls continue. Contact Rettie instead, they're good people. These guys appear to be so desperate for business, quite the red flag
