HQ of Chesterfield Borough Council and seat of local government for the borough of Chesterfield. The town hall is the main office for Chesterfield Borough Council, a number of voluntary sector organisations, and from 2018 (the building is currently undergoing internal renovations) the home of the Register Office for births, deaths, and marriages. The building is of historical significance - built in 1935, it's a replica of Stormont, Northern Ireland's parliament building, a scaled down size. It isn't as large as Stormont, but has a near identical frontage. It has a number of meeting rooms that can be hired by external organisations. The meeting rooms are walnut panelled, and the decoration of the town hall has an Egyptian theme, with the ceilings decorated with lotus flowers. The furniture of the meeting rooms was specifically designed for the town hall. Disabled access is via a ramp down to the basement for the voluntary sector organisations based there, and a ramped entrance to the rest of the building, both at the east end entrance (the end closest to the town centre). At the top of a hill, on Rose Hill, the town hall overlooks Shentall Gardens and has a great view. There are four pay and display car parks close to the town hall, two directly behind the town hall, with disabled parking close to the rear of the building. There is limited on-street parking at the front of the town hall.

What an inefficient council, over 7 days to replace a wheelie bin which was damaged by refuse collectors, still awaiting replacement, absolutely a pathetic service.

What a joke you are wanting to fine a OAP 1000 pound for having a ramp for for getting her mobility scooter out she is now house bound because of you and you will not put her a ramp in to get her scooter out. What a joke of a council

Today (Thursday 7/1), I forgot to put our black wheelie bin (which was full) out for emptying. I rang Chesterfield Borough Council's Refuse Collection Dept., to ask what could be done. They advised me to leave the bin out whilst they rang their people to see if it could be collected. Within three quarters of an hour I was rather taken aback to notice that they'd returned and emptied it, without me even seeing them. Now that's what I call superb service. So I'd like to say a big 'Thank you!' to the people involved. We are very grateful.

My daughter rang up emergency council last night due to having no heating or hot water, ( water was pouring out from her boiler ) the person on the other end said it wasn't an emergency & to call council tomorrow. this was on the ( 07/12/20.) in this cold weather. she is disabled & has learning difficulties. rang them up today and they said it could be up to 24 hours, if there not out by 5pm today it will be tomorrow. this is disgusting so please tell me what actually now classes as an emergency nowadays.

Do not trust this council they have stolen an out door light . And did not return it to the rental home. We have reported to the council multiple times that there are mould and damp in the building that is a health hazard. Also this council is in debt

I needed to have removed an old 3 seater sofa. Looked on line to see who I contacted to have this happen. Saw that I had to telephone and speak to arrange this. It could not hve been easier, the young lady was helpful and its all arrange to be collected in 5 working days for ยฃ15. Being disabled and a pensioner being able to access this kind of help at a reasonable cost and safely is great.

absolutely disgraceful!...I hit a pot hole on the 21st December causing a punctured wheel..the hole had obviously been there along time. I went through their resolver app to claim compensation. this app is a farce. now their saying I can't claim because the hole had been reported on the 19th!..what has that got to do with me hitting the hole..there was no cones..indications or warnings the hole was there..ABSOLUTELY FUMING!

Council OK, however their leisure centres are very disappointing. They are expensive for what they have to offer. I joined over a week ago and have since cancelled my contract due to lack of services (even though advertised). Unable to contact council via email as the 'mailbox is full'; I expect professionalism from our local council, however this is severely lacking.

Hats off to the Neighbourhood team for Grangewood. Reported that a bird had flew into an abandoned flat and was in distress as it couldn't get back out. Bit of red tape to get through but entry successfully attained and the bird was freed without injury. Took a couple of days but a happy ending!

After visiting the sports centre with my grandchildren for the first time we went to the cafe for food after swimming we couldn't purchase anything as my 2 youngest grandchildren have food allergy. Shame on you no allergen menu, I thought it was law for food retailers to have an allergen menu!

Not prepared to take ownership of any issue regarding waste/ recycling. Clearly just pay lip service as and when it suits them.

This is about Stonegravels recycling. The workforce there are a credit to the Council. They are very efficient and are really helpful. Nothing is any trouble for them. Great team. Thanks for the help over the years.
