When we set out on our home buying journey I was poorly prepared for what a difficult and stressful thing to do it can be. The one person that has stood out throughout the whole process is Linda. Her kindness, patience and most of all her willingness to offer her expertise to all aspects of the home buying process has been invaluable, and without her I would have almost given up! I went with their mortgage broker…

I went with their mortgage broker service and they provided me at the end with the absoulote worst offer in the market making my pay more than 7K over 3 years. As my house was B3 BER and it was eligible for green mortgage and I pointed this out explicitly a couple of times. How incompetence can these people be, you literally have one single job as a mortgage broker is to provide the best offer for the home buyer ! Not to mention that their service was paid not like the other free brokers.

As an investor,developer and home owner I am hugely impressed by Liz Ryan of Sherry Fitzgerald's Phibsborough branch. I am more knowledgeable than most about the property market so can speak with experience and say that she is one of the best agents in the city. Liz is honest, professional, incisive, informative and empathic. She has a great knowledge of the Dublin 7 market. She offers no false hopes in order to get the business and is spot on in her predictions. She appeals to both buyers and sellers. As a seller I am impressed at how well she relates to buyers, always keeping all bidders on board, as often the highest bidder may pull out. When it happened in my case Liz assured me in her calm manner that it wasn't going to be an issue. I was especially impressed by the sensitivity Liz showed in selling the family home after my mother's death. Liz has handled two sales for me and I would have no hesitation in recommending her highly.

Big in size, small in spirit

We recently bought a new build in Longwood and, sadly, our experience with this agency was less than positive. While the initial viewing and early stages were good, issues later arose around advertised details (such as HTB) which, in our view, should have been known by experienced agents. We were only made aware of these problems months after going sale agreed, which caused significant stress. Despite the house being nearly ready, we did not receive the keys until 13 months after going sale agreed. Although much of this delay was due to the developer, communication from Sherry FitzGerald was so limited at times that we genuinely questioned whether they were still involved. What stood out most was how the sale was concluded. The keys were simply slipped through the letterbox, no phone call, no acknowledgment, not even an automated “congratulations.” We sent a brief final email which was never answered. When compared with the consistently positive experiences friends had with other agencies, this fell well short of expectations for a firm of Sherry FitzGerald’s size and reputation. After such a long and stressful process, it left a very sour taste. This experience was with Sherry FitzGerald Barry O’Flaherty, though from speaking with friends and forums/groups, similar issues appear to exist across different branches.

Horrible experience renting with them

Horrible experience renting with them. I visited the apartment that had faulty balcony door, which they said would be fixed before I move in. It was not fixed, the house was extremely dirty with food residue in the fridge, many light bulbs not working (they fixed it after a week). Right now, more than 2 weeks after moving in, the balcony door is still not fixed. I’ll never rent with them again.

The professionalism of this agency is 0/10. Me and my girlfriend were trying to found an house to rent by ourselves, but alone in this house crisis is difficult to reach someone before others, so we decided to contact S.F. Agency: The first appointments went great, with a lot of positive feedback and illusions of care of the customer, but at the clue, when we were ready to sign for a cozy home that we liked a lot, the agent disappeared. No more emails and no more appointments. We asked for news and the response was: “the landlord has to think about his options. Would you like to visit again this other house? (that we didn’t like and the agent perfectly knew, because we spoke about it)”. After answering that we would like to have another appointment to discuss the opportunities, the agent disappeared again, this time forever. I really hope that your chances of getting a house will be better than ours, but try to find it yourself instead of giving this agency the opportunity to illuse you.

This company is amazing especially Mark Lawlor. They sold my house quickly and efficiently. It was really easy to catch Mark on the phone for any queries. He did a great job in getting the best price for my house whilst having great integrity by giving transparent information both to me and to the buyers. He guided me and provided excellent advice from start to finish. I give Sherry Fitzgerald 5 stars and will definitely use them in the future. They are a little dearer than other companies but it's worth it for a seamless service. I got a valuation from another company for the same house and they valued it €105k lower than what Sherry Fitzgerald valued it at and obtained so Sherry Fitzgeralds valuations are more accurate.

We sold a house in Galway with Sherry…

We sold a house in Galway with Sherry Fitz. I really regret choosing them. We did had some bad luck. The agent had an illness mid way the sale and then another agent had to sell it who'd no interest as, our property was small. But also, their process is to only do viewings twice a week. If people couldn't make those viewings they wouldn't show them the house. It definitely didn't show the house to all those who might have been interested. The second agent didn't follow up with several people who'd shown interest, despite me asking if she did. Over all, there far better agents in Galway who are flexible and will do more work to show your house. Before you sell, contact a few agents as if you are buying and see how easy the make it to view a house etc. Wish I'd done that.
