I’ve worked with Alan and the team for over 7 years now, both for renting and selling property. Alan knows the local market in Fourwinds and Carryduff like the back of his hand. His network within the property market has been very helpful for maintaining rental property. His screening process is excellent he has 100% record in terms of tenant choice and delivery. Finally, Alan helped me to navigate a very difficult property sale due to an issue within the chain. He worked tirelessly to help resolve the matter, while some may have given up, he got it over the line. Andrew

This is the worst estate agency I've had to deal with, and I've moved house a lot of times, so have dealt with quite a few. When I handed in my keys of the property I was leaving, I told Alan that I still had stuff in the garage. So he arranged for a skip and for me to pay £180 for it. I was under the impression that I would be informed when the skip arrived so that I could try to salvage some of the stuff. No word from him. I've texted him on numerous occasions and he has ignored every message. I moved out over a year ago. I've also emailed, he ignored that too. I've given one star as that is the least I can give. In reality he wouldn't get any stars. Despicable service.

As stated by other people on this site if I could give zero I would have. I have been involved in buying and selling property for over 20 years, but dealing with this Estate Agents was truly a waste of my time, were the property was agreed at a proposed 5k loss to the vendor because of some activity that we were not made aware off (someone knew someone else!)

From the very first meeting with Alan I felt comfortable and confident that he was the correct choice for us to sell our home with. As we progressed through the setting up of the sale of the house Alan was on the ball, kept us informed of everything we needed to know and also gave us advice where we were unsure of anything. Alan and Cherith carried out most of the house viewings and were very professional in their business and their dealings with the viewers. We received regular feedback on viewers, and updates on offers and the entire process was made so much smoother with Alan in charge. When we reached a point where the highest offer we received was potentially going to be the final offer, Alan contacted us and we had an excellent conversation discussing our options and when I asked Alan for his opinion he was frank and honest and recommended I sleep on the offer for a day or two. When my wife and I accepted the final offer Alan again took the lead and gave us the advice and instruction we needed to progress the sale. Alan also helped us greatly with advice in relation to getting a building control certificate for a wood burning stove which we were unaware we needed. Without Alan's help this would have held up the sale considerably.. I would thoroughly and honestly recommend Alan and Cherith to anyone thinking of selling their house and I feel sure that the experience we had with Alan Newell and Co is the norm and not just a one off. Alan is a sincere, honest and very knowledgeable Estate Agent and has a great sense of humour as well. I feel that Alan is a friend as well as someone we did business with and I feel we made a wise choice when we opted for Alan to sell our home for us. Alan and Cherith run a family estate agency and you really feel they appreciate you choosing to have them represent you in what is one of the most important business experiences many of us will ever have. First class service- give Alan and Cherith a chance to meet you and value your property and I am sure you will feel comfortable with them as much as we did.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Myself and my partner put a bid on a house that had been on the market for a long time, we bid over the asking price and requested that the seller be informed that we would like the house to be taken off the market. Alan Newell ignored the conditions of our offer and not only neglected to inform the seller but also called round all parties that he thought might be interested in this doer upper, despite previously letting it sit for a long time without much interest. Magically, the next day there was a slightly higher offer on the house which had sat without any interest for months. We asked Alan Newell to keep us informed of what happened as we were willing to up our bid but did not want to get into a bidding war. We never heard back so my husband eventually called to be told that he had advised the seller to accept the other party’s offer because we clearly weren’t interested!! My husband informed him of the price we had in mind and he immediately started to backtrack and said he could try to sort this out. We obviously were very reluctant to proceed and told him not to bother, he therefore did the seller out of more money through his underhand dealing. All of this was accompanied with constant rude behaviour on Alan’s part, ignoring any questions or comments I made and preferring to only address my husband despite me booking the viewing and being the main point of contact. Alan’s approach to business is outdated and underhand and does not benefit the buyer or seller, avoid at all costs.

Simply outstanding. Went the extra mile and beyond. Attentive, responsive and organised repair work, surveys and called on site not only with prospective purchasers but with builders etc. I was selling quite an old cottage and i would have really struggled without Newell supporting the sale. With Alan Newell you get experience and not some youngster working in a big Agency. Have no hesitation using this firm. You wont be disappointed. 7 stars.

Needlessly dragged out the buying process and did not formally submit our offer to the sellers for quite some time. Held on to the keys for nearly a month after sale was agreed when we could have been moving stuff in rather than rushing it all in one day. Worst estate agent I've ever rented off. Didn't fix any problems I mentioned at the start of the year, nor throughout as reminded about them. Refused to give me back my deposit at the end of my tennancy, blaming me for these existing faults (and very rude about it too). If i could give a negative rating I would.
