GoogleDangerous encounter in the gym! avoid. or make sure security are with you. My colleague was in the onsite gym. Training when he was randomly attacked. The Police turned up quickly. It was serious as he was assaulted. The time was not late it was about 17:00 . The gym is used by members of the public and students. I told my children to avoid this gym. I Now pay for them in another gym.
the college has never sent an email or phone call to my friend asking if he was ' ok '
the lack of safeguarding here is appauling.
one staff member told me '' safeguarding, whats that LOL ''

GoogleAbsolutely awful, take the time to read my experience, I highly recommend reading all this if you’re trans just so you know what environment you’re going into, and hopefully I’ll change your mind about coming to this hellhole. Also I forgot to mention, the staff member I was put in a room with (aside from asking personal questions) gave me unsolicited health advice, she tried to scare me out of drinking energy drinks, she said how drinking energy drinks would affect my testosterone (when I had already done my research regarding all areas of what not to do on testosterone, due to long paper work from the gender clinic.) All that’s scientifically proven is it’s not recommended to smoke on testosterone, there’s absolutely nothing about energy drinks. I’m 18 and quite frankly can make my own decisions of what I ingest, she had the nerve after the ‘getting things off your chest’ session to say “are you still gonna drink energy drinks?” I said “yes I am”. It’s crazy that you think it’s any of your business to dictate what an 18 year old consumes, to bring my hormones that I pay a lot to access into the equation is another thing. For somebody with a “qualification of analysing people” you sure didn’t catch onto any of my humour, did you? Get a science degree then we’ll talk, yeah?

GoogleI studied Mechanical Engineering at Canterbury College for 4 years, and I had a great experience. I preferred going here instead of sixth form because of the course choices and independence it offered.
The staff were highly skilled and knowledgeable, and they were always willing to help. I learned a lot during my time at the college, and I was able to gain a maintenance engineer job after I graduated.
One of the things I liked most about Canterbury College was the hands-on learning. We had access to state-of-the-art facilities, and we were able to put our skills into practice on real-world projects. This gave me a much better understanding of the engineering principles I was learning about.
The staff at Canterbury College were also very supportive. They were always available to answer my questions, and they were always willing to help me improve my skills. I felt like I was part of a community, and I was able to make some great friends during my time at the college.
After I graduated from Canterbury College, I was able to gain a maintenance engineer job at a local company. I am now using the skills I learned at the college to help keep the company's equipment running smoothly. I am very grateful for the education I received at Canterbury College, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a career in engineering.
If you are considering a career in engineering, I would highly recommend Canterbury College. It is a great place to learn the skills you need to succeed in this and many other fields.

GoogleThe bullying was terrible at this college back in 2015. I was studying Hairdressing and this girl made stuff up on purpose and bullied me the way i looked and everything and the college just moved her to the other Hairdressing class ( as there was only 2 classes) and that just made it 1000 times worse and she got another girl involved and they threated to beat me up outside college and so i left 2 hours early so i would avoid them also told the teachers and nothing was done so i walked out of my education because then it was affecting my mental health.
This wasn't the first time this happened either. Even another girl in my class also got bullied by the same girl that bullied me and another girl in my class also started on her. Which made her miss so many lesson and her attendance was bad because she was so scared to come in. ( because nothing happened to solve it.
Teachers only cared about getting good grades ( which yeah thats good ) but i think bullying and a students mental health is more important if its effecting there attendance and education and from lack of support from teachers.
I've also seen the other reviews on here and i feel like the bullying still hasnt changed which is very disappointing.
Although I'm thinking about returning to the college as I'm hopeful its improved since 2015 and actually studying something i enjoy and feel safer , Hairdressing is not the one for me.

GoogleTerrible teaching staff. 90 percent of the teachers in this college are fresh off the boats with minimal grasp of the English language and no people skills or ability to teach. They just sit there on facebook expecting us to teach ourselves and then they wonder why there are assignments 50 days overdue that no one has even started. We aren't even told when we have work to do by the majority of teachers and it is left down to one guy that actually tries to help. Management is so poor at the college that it is not even funny. My brother was moved from his engineering course to an IT course but as far as the college was concerned he was still doing engineering after being off of that course for 3 months! The only good thing about the college is the building itself.

GoogleNot a great experience, bad communication from tutors. My son has wasted a year at college, he was told the course he was doing wasn’t funded anymore, so either pay privately to finish course and travel to Medway or get an apprenticeship, which probably won’t happen as they’re hard to get (as told by tutor). Most of time tutors not there, taught by people who don’t even teach the subject. Not informed by college on GCSE results , collect them ? Being posted ? Emailed ? Who knows !!

GoogleDuring my time in EKC ive had nothing but issues with certain staff and students, spending a total time of two years to be honest it feels wasted, though the tutors i had at the begining were very helpful, during the level one, i feel that the college had not dealt with rising issues as theu should have as the police had to be involved, only to find out nothing had been done, During my time in level two on day one i was targeted by a single tutor thinking he was above everyone else, As far as EHCPs go every tutor that is teaching a student with one need to be aware of whats in place, The fact that i was told to leave the class and have a tutor that taught me the previous year to tell them only goes to show they had not reguarded it at all, Though i the end i ended up failing the year thanks to them, Many thanks to those that supported me over the years, though if you plan to join this college be sure to look in depth to what your signing up for as the course may sound great but both your peers and tutors need to meet your learning standerds before you begin.
Update: As of learning from MKC i had passed the level two.

GoogleUtterly unprofessional establishment, phone lines are completely unusable, you call main phone line...it rings out atleast 6 times before the receptionist bothers to answer the phone, then they put you into the wrong extension so you do the whole thing again...repeat call 6 times untill she answers and she then tries to give me attitude when i simply suggested she ensures she puts me on the correct line this time, how on earth does this person have a job? ive been to the college multiple times and have seen her completely ignore the phone as it calls, should not be a receptionist if you cannot even answer the phone.
I then tried the IAG phone number, this bypasses the silly reception lady but still, THEY let it ring out untill answer machine kicks in, no one does their basic duties. pathetic educational campus.

GoogleThis college is 20 minutes away from Canterbury east station and probably 25 minutes away from Canterbury west station. There are two colleges and a nursery school as well. There is basketball court, gym etc around the college. The college buildings are widely spread out.

GoogleAwful college, you call reception and ask for the extension you are needing, 7/10 the call fails and I'm put back through to reception....EVERY single time they say "I'll take your details and will pass them on" nearly a week and a half later I call again...the SAME thing happens, this time she says "don't worry, I'll ensure that the department contacts you back" after I said about how I was never contacted back.
Another 2 weeks later I decided enough was enough, it's a joke and I need an answer, I walk into the college and I find the person I'm looking for, turns out they have not received a SINGLE message from the receptionist, clearly she is awful with her job and lies about how she will "pass the message on" what a utter joke!
The college is a joke, the tutor I spoke to said he's leaving soon as they're fed up with the way this college is run, I should probably go else where as EKC is actually awful, their is no help unless they gain from it and no support when actually needed.
Thanks for waisting 2 and a half years of my life!

GoogleA college that just leaves you out to dry, they will NOT help when its actually needed, unless it benefits the college then they will drop you within a heartbeat, I trusted this college and when the time came they dropped all support for me and now 4 years on I am still in the same position and I'm fed up with the fake smiles and utter rubbish that they spout out at me when it comes to "helping me".
this college has not only helped ruin my future career but also that of 5 others, so 6 total people who have no trust for a college that ONLY helps when it benefits them, its sad as this college is there to HELP students to reach their career prospects but when it comes to actually helping when needed.....they just ignore you, my trust for this college dropped after you decided to drop me for no reason.
5 years i was with you, FIVE goddam years of my life....WAISTED!!

GoogleI honestly don't understand the point of this college.
Courses I'm interested in are advertised but can't book online, only "Get in touch".
I tried to get in touch, no reply.
I walked in at the student information center 3 times, thinking it was a mistake, nobody can answer me. Only vague words "I take your details, they'll be in touch".
Admission team doesn't even greet you when you walk in there, treating you like a nuisance.
I emailed the 3 heads of departments of Art, including the person that will run the course, no answer.
The course I'm writing about is the "Stone Carving".
Honestly, this is a paid for course, if you can't even bother sorting out the bookings of courses, why are you even opened?
I can't even imagine what actual students are going through.
Young boys and ladies, go learn elsewhere.

GoogleI loved the Canterbury college art and design course, I made forever friends and met a lot of great people. The only issue was higher education, I thought it was my mental health but no. It completely stripped me of my creativity. I felt no support and felt I had no one to go to. The atmosphere was negative and the students where unwelcoming. For a small classroom no one stayed and I feel that’s something to point out. I don’t recommend it if you want to ruin your future goals for art and design.

GoogleFrom a personal experience with the EKC group I have found them to be a very corrupt, dismissive and nasty educational group. It’s a total disgrace in my opinion how they have been allowed to take control over many colleges in this county leaving people with no option of another educational provider to attend to seeing as the all local colleges within their residential radius will all be owned by this group unless they are living closer to London e.g. Medway or West Kent. The staff at this group all seem to have a disgusting attitude regardless of what part of the EKC group you decide you want to attend. Really wouldn’t recommend them but most people in East Kent won’t have an option unfortunately and will be forced into attending one of the colleges owned by EKC Group.

GoogleI'm absolutely disappointed and disgusted about the college. Not enough "Freedom", as I was told that colleges had more "Freedom". The people there are so uptight and horrible. I had depression in the past but going to this college has made it worse. I've made some good friends there but everyone else has some real attitude against me for some reason, from the Teachers to the T.A's and ALS Group have some personal vendetta towards me and I can't figure out why that is. Terrible place. I wouldn't recommend

GoogleWell basically they sent me a letter saying you can come and enrol for health level 2 and when I get there they call me a liar and try and pin the blame on me I'm disgusted people that read this never apply for health and social care. the teachers cant be asked to help you and when you ask for help they will come to you for 1 minute and then go so what's the point the college itself is great just not that course my maths teacher even said that health care students have the lowest attendance out of the hole college what does that tell you

GoogleI think this is the worst college to ever stand on this earth. I do graphics and my tutors are horrible, they put you down, they “help” in the worst way possible by getting uptight and rude. Ever since I joined that college my general morale has been at the lowest it’s ever been, I am sick of being treated like dirt and they wonder why I don’t try anymore. I would never ever recommend this college or the course I do, if they see this then that’s is my goal achieved, because I want them to know how bad they make people feel. Graphics level 3, year 2. Big clue :)

GoogleAfter working here for over 15 years I can honestly say I do not know of a place that is more corrupt and damaging to your soul. My line manager changed our grades and attendance so that they wouldn't get into trouble for their own poor management skills. The HR team allowed open discrimination and bullying for their staff and essentially any complaint was met with a threat of your job....I honestly felt that I would of had a more honest career working for Tony Soprano. The latest bunch of redundancies is also shocking. The heart has been ripped out of the college and what is left is an ugly shell that sent the college massively into debt. If you are looking for courses to enrol on this September look elsewhere....especially as the fraudulent managers still work there.

Google1) The phonelines redirect you to the wrong place, or to a line that hangs-up
2) When you do get through eventually nobody seems to know what department is responsible for your course
3) Getting information for courses is tedious
4) When the course is booked it takes forever for someone to get back to you
5) Course information leaflet changed from a few years ago from being extremely useful having a vast range of information on it to this years which is virtually useless haveing 'practically' no useful information on it

GoogleOk , so there are so many things wrong with this college that it bobbles my mind a little, If you was thinking of coming here I would re-think it , as you may think its nice from the outside its most defiantly not from the inside , Terrible teachers all they do is sit on there arse and expect you to teach yourself and complete deadlines with out the proper instruction, all assignments are always over due to the fact we always have Temp staff to cover for teachers who want to go on holidays in the middle of my education even so the temp ask the students of what we have to do as they are clueless.
If you dont pass its your problem at the end of the day they say it as and with the little help you get there is no way you can pass deadline's , I do IT and Iv'e never know such bad management of a college.
