After reading these reviews I felt the need to write my own, as I unfortunately didn’t have the best experience with Nash Watson, after being a tenant for 20+ years. In general they made me feel very uncomfortable in the place I rented and called my home. Emails and phone calls felt very stand off-ish, not personable and having rented for 20 years and always been a good tenant it felt I was treated like a payment service not a human and could never really relax in my home, which is just not a very nice feeling for the 5 years I was there. Which is especially a shame as the landlords themselves were so sweet and lovely and I think they expected Nash Watson to treat the tenant the same way they were treated and it never felt like that. I understand it is a business at the end of the day, but renting and calling a place your home is such an emotional part of life, it’s a shame I didn’t experience the human and personal side that a lot of people have reviewed here. Especially as at the time their rates/admins fees were more expensive than any other place in Brighton at the time, though this may have changed.

We're sad to hear that you feel that your experience did not meet your expectations of a tenancy that concluded around four years ago. There's so much that's happened worldwide over the last four years, and we're fortunate to live and work in Brighton, such a great, diverse City. Life and where we live isn't a perfect science. We all strive to do our best and work diligently to create a better experience. We wish you well in your future endeavours.

Me and my partner have rented a property in Brighton for nearly 2 years and were really pleased to have dealt with Lisa Nash Watson. I want to particularly recommend this agency as I believe they're the best in town. Everything was made easy and quick for us; their professionalism is truly remarkable. When we have left the flat we could choose when to arrange the viewings and everything was managed entirely around availability, which I highly appreciate. Thank you for everything Lisa!

Having lived, and rented, in Brighton & Hove for 6 years, I can honestly say that you won’t find a more caring and reliable sales and lettings agency than Nash Watson. Whether you’re buying or looking for somewhere to rent, you know you’re in safe hands because they have a great understanding of what makes a home a home, and how to match the right property to the right person. They also have a great sense of aesthetic and style too, being diligently selective about the properties they represent, so you know they won’t try and flog you a sinking ship (speaking from experience….). Lucy is warm, approachable and really takes time to get to know you and your needs. I know that she is always there for me if I need her, whatever the weather. No problem is too big, no question too stupid, Lucy’s got your back. If you haven’t guessed already, I would highly recommend them.

Nash Watson were the estate agents for a flat I bought in 2015. I was so impressed by their professionalism and efficiency, as well as the quality of their website and photography, that I asked them to act as the agents when I subsequently let the flat. Lucy Lloyd has been my main contact at Nash Watson dealing with the letting and management of the flat, and has been exceptionally professional, responsive and friendly throughout. She recommended excellent tradespeople for some minor repairs and work that needed doing, and has made the whole experience of letting the flat an absolute breeze. An excellent experience as a first-time landlord. Recommended.

Nash Watson are that rare breed of estate agents who work hard for their clients and do a really thorough job. But they're not only efficient and professional, they're also lovely people to deal with too. I recently bought my beautiful new home in Brighton with the help of Lisa, Julian and the team, and the whole experience was quick, stress free and easy. I highly recommend Nash Watson if you want (excellent) service with a (very genuine) smile.

We bought our first flat through Nash Watson a few months ago, and we really can't fault them at all. We viewed a lot of flats with one of the larger agency chains (I may get into trouble if I named them, but it's illegal to hunt them on horses with hounds if you catch my drift) and got sick of the fact that they seemed to treat the whole process as a game, with their objective to get as much of our money as possible. Nash Watson were different from the start, from the outstanding website and photography to the fact that they all actually seemed like nice and genuine people. There were no attempts to get us in to see an in-house mortgage broker or anything (call me paranoid by I prefer to be the only person at the negotiation who knows what I can afford), and no messing around at all. They also had the only two flats we saw which were anything like what we were after, one of which is now our home. Outstanding.

Nash Watson has been by far the best letting agents I have rented through. Welcoming and personable from the beginning and showing care and quality in the service and properties they provide. I lived in a gorgeous flat in Hove for 3 and a half years, it was well maintained from the start, and there was no hesitancy in keeping it that way if ever anything went wrong. Highly recommend renting through Nash Watson if you can.

Nash Watson have been the most incredible letting agents my partner and I have ever dealt with. The quality of their properties and the standard of their care is unlike anything we have ever experienced before. They are wonderful friendly people and extremely knowledgable at what they do and they offer a service that is truly personal and down to earth and it makes you feel very well looked after. They are honest, straightforward and a real breath of fresh air in the housing industry. We felt in safe, professional hands always. It was a real pleasure to have known and worked with them. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Lucy and the team at Nash Watson are probably the best estate agents I've used in the UK and I have been renting for about 18 years. Their commitment to ensure the tenants are happy and ensuring any issues are sorted in a timely manner are among their top strength. Very friendly and helpful during, move in, during the tenancy and any matters at the end of the tenancy. Highly recommended.

If I could rate Nash Watson 0 stars I would. I’ve never dealt with worst letting agents in 10 years of being a trusted tenant. Apparently, acting in the interest of both the landlord and the ‘tenant’ they continually tried to charge me for charges that we’re not acceptable as part of my tenancy agreement. All of which was later proved by the DPS who luckily stepped in to give me my rightful money back. They caused me endless months of stress and withheld key information about the tenancy throughout. I would urge anyone to NOT rent a property through Nash Watson

Alex · 11 November 2019

Agent replied · 9 November 2024

Dear Alex, The Deposit Protection Service (DPS) is there as the third party adjudicator; we recommend this step when a tenant and landlord fail to agree on a way forward. We're sorry to hear that you feel that your experience did not meet your expectations. Actions speak louder than words and the fact that this is the only negative review since our business began nearly 10 years ago, demonstrates that we do indeed care about our customer's experience and our business processes. Because of client confidentiality, we cannot go into great detail on an online forum. However, we can illustrate how the DPS works for the tenant and the landlord. At the outset of a tenancy, we nominate the DPS as we feel that a neutral, third party holding a tenant's deposit is the best way forward. At the end of a tenancy, if a landlord or/and tenant dispute certain costs and an agreement cannot be reached, we then suggest to both the landlord and tenant that a DPS adjudicator decide how much of the deposit is to be apportioned to either party. We do not have a say in this process; our role is to give all relevant parties concerned the correct information so that a fair and timely conclusion can hopefully be reached. At the beginning of the tenancy the landlord and tenant sign up to the DPS process which then, in turn, works to reach a fair conclusion. There is no "stepping in" by the DPS, which is initially appointed by the letting agent and then in turn agreed by the landlord and tenant. This structure is already in place at the beginning of a tenancy in order to deal with any issues that may arise. We are genuinely sorry to hear your review, and we do wish you the very best going forward.

Nash Watson are a breath of fresh air in the Brighton and Hove rental market. Lisa is professional, down to earth and always goes above and beyond - a delight to work with! Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

My partner and I rented a flat that Lisa showed us. It needed some work before we moved in, which made us a bit nervous as we've had experiences where the work was supposed to happen but did not. To the contrary, Nash Watson got everything in order and also sent out contractors for a minor followup issue very quickly.

Nash Watson have been absolutely fantastic in the whole process of buying my property. Everyone was very professional , efficient, friendly and very supportive. Julian went over and beyond updating me throughout the whole process in helping things run smoothly which made it less stressful. A big thank you to Julian and Lisa I would highly recommend this estate.

Having just used Nash Watson to find a home in Brighton we are really pleased with the level of service from Lisa and the team. They kept us in the loop at all times, and came up with solutions, rather than problems, as we went through the process from viewing to completion. We will use them again.

Nash Watson are the gold standard as both a letting and sales agent. Hugely knowledgeable about the market, strong sense of what the market needs and wants and where it is moving to. Source of wise counsel and advice, great aesthetic sense and strong copy skills, sound judgement of both people and places - and hugely practical and pragmatic. Nothing is too much trouble. Go above and beyond as standard. I will never go anywhere else for Hove property sales and letting.

Lisa Nash Watson helped us buy our first home after a very long search. Lisa was the first estate agent that we trusted, she was always available with help and advice. Our experience was great and we will be looking to use their services if we move in the future.

Lisa and Joe sold our home for us last year. The advice and support they gave us before, during and after the sale was flawless. As is often the case with moving, it was a very stressful time. And Lisa's clam, professional patient approach got us into our dream home. We only wish we could have purchased our new home through them, having them as an agent would have maybe stopped my partner from having a semi-melt down! Thanks both, we couldn't have done it without you. ;-)

Nothing but praise for the team at Nash Watson. We have rented our flat in Hove with Nash Watson for the last 5 years and only have great things to say about them. They are always ready to help and resolve any issues that arise with 100% speed and efficiency. They have made the whole renting process a dream from maintaining the flat to smoothly running the process of change over of tenants. Thank you. Highly recommend Nash Watson.

We've been amazed by the absolutely outstanding service Nash Watson provides. They helped us through every stage of our selling and purchasing of our new home, always available to talk, always up to date with progress and news between all the parties (they even did the solicitors job for them!) They know exactly how to keep everyone informed, happy and moving forward. We cannot thank them enough for all the work they put in to making sure we didn't lose our dream home. We've never come across such a well organised, professional estate agents - it's a breath of fresh air. We cannot recommend them highly enough- but we are letting all our friends know and hoping they spread the word too!

I have received an absolutely first class service from Nash Watson Lettings, in particular from Lucy, head of lettings. She assisted me when purchasing a flat for letting, with advice on my purchasing a suitable property. Subsequently she handled the tenancy itself and continues to do so. She has dealt with all aspects, dealing with minor repairs, finding and managing tenants, drawing up letting contracts, efficiently preparing monthly accounts. I have no hesitation is recommending Nash Watson Lettings.

I couldn't recommend Nash Watson highly enough. A breath of fresh air from a world of sketchy, hyped up estate agents (in my view at least). When viewing houses with them, they provided honest, direct and useful information about the houses. They now manage our rental property and they have all been super easy to work with and very accommodating. And, I must of course mention the superb photography and design!
