Utmost Professionalism! Best Experience!

When I finally found an apartment in Birmingham two years prior, I felt very lucky. In hindsight, I was even luckier to have found this place with PLACES as its letting agency. Before moving to Birmingham (and the UK in general), I had heard many horror stories about letting agencies and my first attempts looking for an apartment in Brum were not a good sign. Eventually, however, I viewed the apartment I ended up taking and throughout the tenancy, PLACES, and especially among their agents I want to thank Chloë in particular but also Monika, proved to be highly professional in their conduct and in their communication; as well as they were showing kindness and understanding when a family medical emergency occupied me for more than half a year and included an extended stay abroad: PLACES not only made sure the apartment was kept in good condition but even ensured that upon my return, which required me to participate in the quarantine and COVID testing regime at the time, my internet (necessary for the testing and quarantine updates) was working before I returned. The two times I needed a repair person to come to fix minor wear and tear, the shower hose developing a small leak and the thermostat of the water-heater needing replacement, I received an immediate response and a friendly and professional contractor came the next morning. Upon check-out, they helped organize the end-of-tenancy cleaning and also helped me find some information, when I ran into some difficulties with the moving of my furniture to another country. There was no issue with return of the deposit, as I left the apartment in good repair, they communicated about cleaning and their final inspection within three days after my lease had ended and authorized the return payment, with no hidden fees or any other hitches. I find that they care about their properties and their tenants both. For me “taking care” is the mark of professionalism, and I found that “professional” is the best way I can describe PLACES…. and, definitely, Chloë as an agent. THANK YOU!!! I can only highly recommend PLACES. I will also say that anybody considering them should definitely be a person who cares for the places that they are living in, since PLACES does their due diligence with background checks and the way potential tenants approach them and communicate with them to make sure that tenants are not of the anti-social kind. I found that, as much in care as you are willing to give, PLACES will give you in return. If I’d ever return to Birmingham or had a friend or colleague moving there, I’d happily point them to PLACES and also argue that even if the apartments on offer at the time were a bit more expensive than others on the market, they should still go with PLACES, because having peace of mind with a professional letting agency that is diligent and communicates swiftly and clearly, no matter the issue, is priceless.

Places helped me finding the perfect flat and so far I had an amazing experience with this letting agency. After renting different properties from different agencies, I finally found a good agency, professional and honest. My property when I moved, was super clean, tidy, everything was in order, and this agency gave me an inventory that corresponds 100% to the reality of the flat, there was nothing missing, everything was already reported in the inventory and I honestly think it could not have been done better. Tina and Monika were always ready to help and always answering to any questions I had, super fast answering to emails and extremely professional.

Scam?

Places set up 4 appointments to see an apartment and called off all of them the day of the viewing two of them within 2 hrs of the appointment (I had to travel from out of town). The excuse was that the tenant would not let them in. However, they offered to go and take a video of the apartment. They said that the tenant was leaving in a few days so I could see after they left but on the day of the tenant leaving I called and they said the apartment had been let. I suspect the apartment was not ever available (the pictures were composites of two different types of apartments in the same building - different kitchen types). I am not sure what the point of this is - it looked more like a scam than anything. Still unclear what they were trying to achieve.

Company demanded I sent them copies of…

Company demanded I sent them copies of my bank statements after telling me three months of payslips would be fine, when I refused to do this and explained to them that this is not safe, offering to send them my investment portfolio as further evidence that I could afford the property, they continued to insist I do this, and thus leave myself open to identify fraud. They then told me they will be retaining my deposit, despite these not being the terms I agreed to. I am seeking legal counsel and will be reporting their referencing company for false advertising. Do not use.

Would not trust this lot as far as I could THROW them. They are only interested in profits - could not care less about damage done to my property or how awful tenants behaved. Such outrageous noise levels that disrupted neighbours. Worst experience in 20 years. Save your money and your stress levels - go literally anywhere else. Chloe D was especially unhelpful.
