I genuinely felt like I was in a tv…

I genuinely felt like I was in a tv show where I was being pranked, worst business I’ve ever dealt with. We arranged a viewing for 5pm on Thursday with Ben, my partner and I took time off work for it. We arrived at 4:50pm to view a two bed flat in maidstone. 5:05pm - still no sign of Ben. We called the office, they told us he was doing another viewing and would be with us shortly. 5:30pm, after waiting outside for 40 minutes at 4 degrees, we called the office back. I was met with a rude and dismissive older woman who tried to tell me he was showing another flat at 5:15pm and we were after, which was a lie as we were booked at 5pm and had been outside since 4:50pm. I explained that was impossible as we were there at 4:50pm and she abruptly put me on hold for about 5 minutes. Eventually she came back to tell me Ben had been called away suddenly because another property that had ‘broken locks’ so he had to rush over there to call out a locksmith to fix it. 1. Why would he need to be there to meet a locksmith? - how would that help the situation unless he is also a locksmith? 2. He didn’t even bother to call us or the office to let us know he couldn’t make the viewing. It seemed like an obvious lie and we still can’t make sense of it now. The woman did apologise and offered us another viewing for 12:30 on Saturday. We reluctantly agreed. 12:20 Saturday: we turned up and saw Ben take another couple into the apartment. 12:28 - Ben came out of the flats, got in his car and drove off. We got out of our car to try flag him down. He stopped, got out and asked us if we were going to view a flat. He did not apologise for wasting almost two hours of our day on Thursday or even acknowledge it happened. He admitted he forgot he was booked in with us for another viewing on Saturday and was leaving. He then showed us the property and continued to lie throughout the viewing, first claiming the property just needed a ‘tidy’, then once we got in the door and saw how disgusting it was he said he’d not seen the property, then said that others had turned down the property in recent viewings because of the state of it (he also told us we were the first to view the property). It honestly seemed like he thought we were stupid and had no memory of what he said previously to the point I thought we were being pranked. I have never seen as estate agent company act so unprofessionally in my entire life and encourage everyone to be cautious about using them to rent or buy in the Maidstone area.

Left awaiting an answer

Wanted to view a property they had for rent, we have a pet and just wanted to know if the owners would allow. Never got an answer, just ignored - RUDE. This then makes you wonder if you did rent from them and needed assistance how quickly they'd react. Even if a call to us had said we cannot get an answer to your question from the owners at least that would of been better than being ignored. Based on this I'd say avoid - Peterborough branch.

Reading brunch! No quality, just excuses!

Reading brunch! So agent assume that previous tenants did not know how to use central heating (well as he), so is fair to not maintenance it (just switch it on) and be sure that property is in right condition for tenants and landlord. As he said I’m not engineer. He inform us that everything is fine it’s just tenants can’t set it. People who live in that flat before was an older couple with poor English so they betrayed their trust. Now we 3th months during winter without help from them carrying the radiator from room to room. Unprofessional low quality sad stain on company opinion. In contract you got duty to maintenance the garden and take responsibility for all equipment which they do not check.I’ll believe it’s a scam.

Bedford Branch Absolutely Useless

Absolutely useless. Bedford branch under new manager but remain completely void of organisational skills, fail to respond to phone calls, or emails. Still sending quite threatening sms demands for rent payments, despite the fact property was vacated and appropriate notice given at the end of tenancy. Have tried repeatedly to get them to stop but they ignore all efforts. They just don't give a damn. Do NOT use these agents. Read the reviews, they are almost universally slated!

house was left absolutely spotless and in perfect condition I have a video as proof because I know what these company's are like, but yet this poor excuse of a letting agent have provided for keeping my disposit is disgusting I would not recommend using century 21 as they up the rent when your tenancy is up and pointing out pathetic things to keep your deposit, my mother is a landlord with multiple propertys and would be more than happy if she received her property back in the way i left century 21s property they give poor excuses like the smoke alarm battery is dead and a missing light bulb and dust on radiator cap and just general wear a tear which they higher a trade man from a third party company instead of letting have access to the property to fit a new battery and replace a light bulb and wipe dust of radiator cap avoid at all costs

My partner emailed regarding a property to let, they said they would contact her, they didn't. She rang them a few days later, still no contact from them. I emailed them and got a response within the hour. Working 12 hours, 5 days a week Its hard to view a property on an estate agents 9-5, the first person i dealt with weren't willing to accommodate this saying that 5pm is the last time they can really do and they don't work weekends. Booked for 5pm on a weekday. got the time off work to only get a call 15 minutes before saying that no one would be available as the viewing wasn't booked in properly. Re-arranged for a Saturday at 11am (even though they don't work). it got re-arraned again for the afternoon and the agent was still late. I understand that you might not make commission on a letting. but we definitely won't be going to Century21 for buying. amateur

0 stars out of 5 if I could! He consistently told us that he'd had lots of offers and we needed to raise ours. When we spoke to a different member of staff on the listed office number, he told us not a single offer had been made. 4 weeks after an offer was made, a mortgage had been accepted and solicitors were instructed, Peter Bennett waited until we had paid our solicitors their fees, paid £1500 for a extended survey and then had the indecency to email me at 8pm on a Sunday night telling me that he had sold the property to someone else as 'the whole process should have been completed in 4 weeks'. He also made derogatory comments about our female financial adviser working part time and being poor at her job. When my partner went to the office the following day to confront him he hid behind a door and refused to come out. Absolutely disgusting service and cost us over 2k. Since going to other viewings, other local estate agents have told us how Century 21st have a poor reputation and told us to avoid them.

We recently rented a property with Century 21, I could not be more impressed with Ben and Nicole, both have gone out of there way to assist our move at such a stressful time. All emails / phone calls answered and dealt with virtually immediately. We had a minor issue with the cooker hood and shower and a tradesman was knocking at the door within an HOUR! I would highly recommend using them....

Now they’re expecting me to pay over £500 to get out of a lease that they are not upholding. Absolute bunch of inadequate halfwits. Wish there was a -5 option

Appalling service

Appalling service. Called them four times over a one week period to arrange a viewing. Each time they said they would get someone to call me back. They didn’t and not once apologised for the poor service. Sent an email complaint to their head office but had no reply to this either. Have now given up trying to view this property.

Awful. Arranged a viewing. Called up the day before to check the viewing was still going ahead and was told that it was. I arrived at the property, waited over an hour calling the office. It went straight to answering machine. Next day no apologies - nothing! Completely unprofessional and a waste of time. Avoid at all costs.

Maidstone Branch Poor Customer Service

Briefly used Century 21 in Maidstone to try to sell my flat. No feedback on any viewings and no follow up when contacted. Very disappointing overall service. Unfortunately as I was talked into going with them as a multi agent sale it cost me with no return on my money. I wouldn’t consider ever selling with Century 21 again!
