FacebookI made a bid subject to mortgage on a house in the Ormeau Road area with Hampton Estates around 1 month ago, I have never had such a bad customer service experience in my life.
After my bid was made, I heard nothing from their end, so around a week later I decided to call. There was a new bid on the house, I upped mine.
Fast forward around another week, same again, no contact, decided to call…another bid on the house, so I upped mine again.
If we fast forward once, more radio silence, decide to call up and surprise surprise…another bid on the house that I hadn’t been made aware of. I decide I will make one last offer and leave it there.
Later the same day, the lack of communication really got to me so I called up to inquire as to why I had never been kept informed of any bids that had come in on the house. Managed to get through to the Managing Director who informed me that they had been told 3 WEEKS previous to only accept CASH offers.
Hampton’s had allowed me to carry on bidding for a property I had no chance of securing, POTENTIALLY pushing up the cost for all other bidders involved.
Only last week I had called to inform the team I would like them to indicate to all other bidders on the property that my bids were invalid, Hampton’s refused to do this.
Whether the lack of communication on their behalf was just a failure of systems, ignorance or something in my admittedly uneducated opinion, illegal, i’m not sure. But the fact I was able to continually push up the price on this house absolutely stinks.
Unbelievably, the day after I was finally told it was a cash offer only house, they then call me (for the first time) asking if i’d like to make another bid?! What is going on!!!

Hi Ben,
I’m sorry you felt that the service you received was unfair and that the house wasn’t agreed to you, however many points of your review are inaccurate.
This property in question took multiple cash and mortage offers, all of which were valid and bidders updated accordingly including yourself. On the occasions that you called in prior to us getting to you first, we cannot take responsibility for this.
It was decided towards the end of the bidding that we would only consider the cash offers as they were continuing to bid upwards and, given the condition of the property, would illuminate the chance of a down valuation from the bank.
In the instance that we received no cash bids or that a mortage bid was significantly higher than any cash, then we would’ve been in the position to accept a mortage bid.
Nothing done here was illegal and would appreciate that, as stated in your “admittedly uneducated opinion” you didn’t accuse of such. We can assure you that your bid, along with other mortage bids, was throughout valid.

FacebookWe called 2 weeks ago to try arrange a viewing. They couldn't do one at a time that suited us so we arranged for a time that supposedly suited them. So, last Tuesday we went up to Belfast from Dublin to view this house. We had an appointment to view the house at 2.30 and we arrived at 2. There was someone else there who had an appointment for 2.15. At 2.45, we were still all waiting for the agency to show up and the other guy rang so they said they'd sent someone over. The agency rang the current tenant and asked him to let us in so he did. At that point there were four of us there to view the house so we all had to stand around awkwardly in this guys sitting room while he watched TV. Eventually the agent showed up. Every other agency we've done a viewing with, the agent would come talk to us, tell us some basic information and ask if we had questions. He just stood outside and said nothing. So we looked around and decided we liked the house. Then we went to speak to the agent. We realised at that point that he was a child and in way over his head. He was unable to answer our questions. So, on our way back to Dublin, we sent an email and asked how long it would typically take to get a response to an application (We really like the area so we actually submitted one in advance). They responded the next day basically saying they had lost our application. They sent us a different application and we spent over an hour doing this new application and getting all the info we needed and we sent it off again. I just went onto the listing awhile ago and it is now listed as let agreed but they haven't bothered to contact us and let us know it is gone.

GoogleHaving dealt with Phil on a number of occasions now I can only highly recommend his services. He has an extensive knowledge of all things estate and approaches each job in a very professional manner. He is honest, reliable and communicates everything well between all parties. I would have no hesitation in using Phil again in the future

GoogleUnprofessional, poor communication, been let down a few times by this. Applied for a house, didn’t hear back for a week, called up the office almost everyday for an update and was told conflicting things by different agents. Sent a few emails to Joel who was dealing with the property, didn’t receive any replies. 4 weeks later I call to chase it up again after calling every couple of days, only to be told by a new agent oh sorry that was let agreed last week. Apparently there was a tenant secured weeks ago and they were just waiting on them to send their deposit. Nice of them to have told me that. Extremely frustrating, not the first time they’ve done that. Not a very professionally run agency, poor communication between staff members and clients.

GoogleThe most unsafe I have ever felt as a tenant. Communication from Hampton Estates is poor at best, nonexistent at worst. Just had a surveyor let themselves into the flat, and walk into my bedroom. Not only were we not informed that this was happening, but even the surveyor had no idea the flat was occupied. It feels like at any moment anyone off the streets can just walk into the flat. No security, no privacy.
EDIT - They did it AGAIN. I had surveyors arrive unannounced, with zero notice. At least this time they accosted me outside my door rather than inside my bedroom. It's gone beyond unprofessionalism, I'm now regularly dealing with trespassing and harassment by Hampton Estates.

GoogleI rented an apartment in a managed complex in Ormeau area with this agent for 2 years. In that time, they:
- told us we needed guarantors ON our move in date despite both of us working full time, this delayed our move in by about 3/4 days meaning my housemate had to sofa surf
- instructed a painter to paint our living room and kitchen lime green when we asked for the current magnolia paint to be refreshed
- changed the passcode to the front gate of the building without telling any of the residents - cut to about 5 of us standing outside the front gate around 5:30pm unable to enter our homes
- ignored emails about regular blockages to the plumbing where we requested a plumber come out to inspect
- took inventory photos AFTER we had already moved in therefore not reflective of the state of the property before we took it on
- ignored emails I'd sent after I'd moved out enquiring when/if I would receive my deposit
- ignored the TDS asking them for comments/supporting evidence when I filed a claim for my deposit - I received my deposit from the TDS in December having moved out at the beginning of August.
I'm not going to make a recommendation either for or against but the above should help you decide if you want to rent with this agent or not.

TrustpilotReceived a first class service
When selling our house in Belfast we received a first class service from Hampton Estates. I was not in the country during most of the process and communication about the sale was excellent, and Hampton's were happy to carry out a few extra tasks that needed to be done. I was particularly impressed with the presentation of the house on the web - the photos were excellent. I would recommend them.

GoogleGave a key to surveyor who let themselves into our flat with no prior notice while we were in bed! Lack any sense of privacy and are so lacking in care it is dangerous.
Edit: - Not even a month later and it happened AGAIN. Incompetent to a dangerous degree.

Horrible experience with Hampton Estates.
We can't return the deposit.
The roof leaked for 2 years and was never repaired. We sent a video, wrote a letter, spoke personally to the agent.
I do not recommend dealing with this company.

FacebookWould highly recommend Hampton estates. I was working with Kris Dean and I would highly recommend him for you property interests or queries. He was very quick to reply to all emails, calls and queries that came up through out my rental property agreement. Overall a very nice estate agent to work with and would definitely work with them again for future property investments.
