I found out about Bowerhouse via Rightmove. The lady who presented the first flat in Bath is called Georgina Barstow. I actually loved the first flat but the rooms were a bit too narrow. I then discovered another flat for rent soon after and Georgina was quick to help us see the flat and secure it for us. She helped us navigate the tenancy agreement and get a full itinerary check. Her team at Bowerhouse were helpful and quick to respond. All very smooth. If I was a landlord I would definitely use their services!

While many estate agents said they’d follow up with new listings, Jenny was the only one who actually did. She stood out for her optimism, honesty, and genuine commitment, exactly the kind of person you want on your side when navigating a competitive rental market. We were shown around a property by Jenny and having had a lot of experience with many estate agents in Bath Jenny really stood out for her honesty. We eventually decided for a house through a different agency but Jenny nevertheless was extremely generous with her time, giving advice and sharing contacts for tradespeople. It is really wonderful to deal with someone who has such integrity and generosity of spirit.

I viewed a flat with Bowerhouse a while ago and was really taken aback by how rude the staff member was. She barely engaged during the viewing and when the next people arrived, she didn’t even say goodbye or acknowledge me, just ignored me completely. It came across as arrogant and unprofessional. Based on that experience alone, I wouldn’t want to rent through this company.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. We were severely mistreated by Bowerhouse and ‘Jen’ in particular. I viewed a property with Bowerhouse, which went well and I was assured that the property was totally un-furnished - as it was advertised on Rightmove. (Which was a key factor for us as we have our all of own furniture.) Then, literally minutes after sending off the holding deposit to rent this property, I received a call from Bowerhouse saying that there had been a “glitch on their system” and in fact the property was fully furnished with a bed, tables, chairs etc! To add insult to injury, I can barely put into words how aggressive, rude and dismissive Jen was to me on the phone when I tried to calmly seek a resolution to the fact that we have our own furniture and we had been given totally wrong information. She showed zero understanding of our situation and showed no signs of help (which I believe was to cover their mistake in the ad). She kept threatening us with “we have other tenants waiting”… even though we had already signed the holding deposit! She then immediately cancelled our application after speaking to the landlord and left us nowhere. Overall worst experience possible - I have never been treated so disgracefully. Definitely go elsewhere! Shame on you Bowerhouse.

We rented a property through Bowerhouse and had to move out due to abuse from Jenny Bower. When we first moved in our fridge wasn't working and there was no hot water. This was eventually fixed 2 weeks later after multiple emails and phone calls. We then had structural problems with the house which caused damp and mold, the whole time we were blamed for our "lifestyle" and expected to pay to run a large industrial dehumidifier to dry out the wall while waiting months for a contractor to come and fix the walls outside. We also had no hot water or heating again for multiple months, despite us calling and emailing multiple times with video and photo proof. She called us liars and complained that we were wasting her money on sending out plumbers. Our fence had also blown down into our neighbours garden to which Bowerhouse also did nothing for 6 months, much to our neighbours annoyance. Jenny eventually gave us a release from the contract early once we threatened legal action however there was 0 responsibility taken on her part. To add insult to injury she kept making snide comments about my disabled partner as well as our income despite us never having an issue with affordability. Stay away from this agency at all costs!!

Massively unprofessional agents. Saw a property online and said that we would pay a deposit to secure as tenants wouldn’t allow viewings. We were told to wait a week to view and all applicants would be put forward to landlord to decide who gets the property. 4 days later, receive a call to say it’s let and viewing is cancelled!

I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. We used them to manage our property when we moved to NZ early this year. From the first appointment for the house valuation to the end of the tenancy, Bath City Lets (Nathalie Thompson) have been great. Friendly, professional, thorough, good communication, reliable, goes the extra mile and easy to work with. My only regret is not being able to use their service longer due to the sale of the house. I highly recommend BCL having used them for eight years. Sue and Nathalie are very personable, efficient and their experience in the industry is borne out by my always having had lovely tenants who are the ‘right fit’ for my property. As an overseas landlord this is imperative and especially so during recent times. In July I have a new tenant moving in whom Nathalie secured within a week of the launch after a very positive response to the viewings she did. I have come across a review of this agency below, which gives it one star, cataglogues lists of errors for us all to exclaim about in disbelief, and adds a curse in for good luck! Well, if you are trying to assess Bath City Lets, I'd take this lot with a pinch of salt. Like others posting here I have known Jenny Bower for over 20 years, and have just recommended a good friend to her for landlord services. Five star ratings across the board, as a result of which another person has switched to her from another local agency. So, I wonder why the vitriol? The only clue is to follow the Good Admiral to see what else he's been up to. Three reviews here. A London agent gets it in the neck, and a cobbler too has let our sailor down. One star reviews all; this guy loves hating clearly. So, as far as I am concerned he's talking cobblers. If you need to rent in this city, this is a good place to come, whichever side of the market you're on!

If I could no stars, I would. For over a year, I had nothing but problems with BCL. Missed rental payments, not informing me of issues at the flat and then just charging me for remedial work with no explanation, sending me emails by mistake regarding other flats on their books ... the list goes on. I had to ask repeatedly for final documents, including contracts and inventories. Their attention to detail seems to be non-existent. The check out of my last tenants was not done properly and I'm still finding that items are missing and damage has been sustained to the property, costing me a fortune to put right. When I raised several issues with BCL at the end of the tenancy, they became abusive and rude towards me. Completely unacceptable and I curse the day I ever met them.
