Don`t recommend renting with them. Emailing them will bring you headaches. It`s like they only read a part of the text, but not all of it. Don`t even bother telling them what problems the house has, they won`t do anything about it, it will just be emails back and forth. Alan is the most irritating person I have ever met from any letting agency and very unprofessional. After my review, he told me `how pety to leave a google review`. Little advice to everyone wanting to rent in the future - NEVER RENT A HOUSE IN CUMNOCK - you are welcome!

They were fine when I first took out the rental, but since I terminated the lease they've been awful. Unresponsive to emails, delaying returning the deposit, for a different reason every time I call them about it. Really disappointed in their total lack of professionalism. They're not even showing any common courtesy, in fact they are downright rude now. Like many other reviews I fully believe they are trying to retain as much of the deposit as they can for as long as they can. Be very wary if you are thinking of renting a property from them, they're exactly the kind of shoddy business that gives estate and letting agents a bad rep.

Gary, we would like to put a few things right on this review. Your deposit is held with a deposit company therefore, your comment about holding onto your deposit is factually incorrect. After you had moved out of the property that you had rented via ourselves we carried out a check out of the property. The check out report was emailed to you as well as a copy of the Inventory from when you moved in. You did not clean the property prior to moving out therefore, we are claiming a cost of cleaning the property from your deposit. This is down to bits of food left in the sink, hairs in the bathroom and en-suite, skirtings and surfaces covered in dust and debris. We are glad that you have posted this review as it allows ourselves to highlight your poor levels of cleanliness to other agents and landlords who read this review and our reply.

Everyone at Ayr Estate and Letting agents, particularly Amanda and Yvonne were really responsive and helpful from start to finish. Professional but also really friendly and easy to deal with. I have to say prior to renting our property with them I was finding dealing with other agents in the area really hard work, mainly due to the complete lack of communication, so Ayr were a breath of fresh air! Thank all.

Recently moved into a property hosted by Ayr Estate & Letting Agents. The viewing, application and move-in process was incredibly simple and both Amanda and Yvonne were on hand to help and provide advice through the whole process. Absolutely wonderful company and very quick to resolve any issues. :) Moving can be stressful enough and I appreciated the support that was offered by all of the friendly staff. Thank you!

This business demands a rental deposit when applying for a property before the lease is agreed or issued, regardless of whether you stand a chance of renting or not. They then hang on to your money for as long as they can, before finally telling the applicant the application was declined. This is NOT acceptable practice. An utterly immoral and ugly way to conduct oneself. Avoid at all costs. Edited to add: many of the positive reviews here have been concocted by staff members. A quick check on social media will confirm this. Edied again: You will see the reply below from this company, accusing me of being 'childish'. I am telling the truth about this company, my review is EXACTLY what happened. This company claimed the application had ALREADY PASSED their scrutiny so this nondense of 'we were right to reject the application' was yet another misrepresentation of actual occurences. This can be backed up with correspondence and will all be forwarded for scrutiny to any professional bodies of which this company claims it is a member. Oh, and naming a client in a pathetic reply is very unprofessional, potential customers should note this .

Agent replied · 7 July 2023

Cher, I take it you are Erins friend. So your review is a non starter. Childish behaviour and I’m so glad we have avoided you friend. This only confirms that we were right to reject said application.

I would like to thank everyone involved in helping myself and my partner in moving into your new flat. We are absolutely in love with the property. I would rate the company a 5, Would highly recommend to people who are looking to move. All staff very kind and helpful. They all ensured the experience was as smooth as possible and supported where needed. Many thanks to everyone involved.

They seem nice until you apply and they ask for the deposit upfront. I really needed the flat, so I paid the deposit instantly, sent over all the documents and the application form (where you'll be asked to give a ridiculous amount of detail, including 4 references and your payroll number, for whatever reason), and then waited. A week later I still hadn't heard anything back, so I emailed them. Didn't get a response, so the following day I rang them. They let me know I've been rejected and said they'd send out an email with that info and ask for my bank details for the refund. Which they could just get from the application form if they bothered. The next day I had to ring again to get them to confirm that I'll get my deposit back. They really should just send the money back instantly, once the landlord makes a decision, instead of holding on to it until you're forced to pester them about it.

Monica · 14 April 2021

Agent replied · 7 July 2023

Dear Monica, unfortunately your application was unsuccessful for the property you applied for. We do advise that applications are processed within 7 working days, which yours had been. You were then notified that your application was unsuccessful within this timescale and your deposit was refunded back to yourself with 24hours. Maybe you will have better luck applying for another property with another agent. All the best.

Since deciding that me and my partner where interested In private letting. We had found a house, from start and continuous dealing with the letting agents. Yous have been outstanding, answering all my questions. We have had bit of plumbing issues, but the rely back and forth with even the landlord has been fast and efficient. Always helpful and definitely happy we are with this letting agents. Will be definitely recommending yous in the future and have been currently.

Absolute incompetent shower. They have a great front but once you pull that away you'll find that they have zero infrastructure to support the business and lack the intelligence to deal with even the simple things. I love how on the other reviews here that they've asked for the reviewer to contact them - which is a laugh because whenever you contact them about a problem you’ll hear nothing but the wind whistle. If you have to rent from them, then make sure you can agree short-term let so you can get out when inevitably you begin to have issues with them. ***Edit*** So Ayr lettings obviously claiming any negative reviews here are "fake reviews" - when the truth is the only fake reviews here are the two 5 star ones posted directly after my own. Coincidence? You decide. To infer people are randomly surfing the internet looking for businesses to trash is just misdirection - but let me guess - the "fake reviews" may also be a rival looking to steal your business - right? Deluded. A tip for anyone looking to actually steal their business - just run a better business and take the criticism on the chin instead of screaming that there are monsters with fake passports hiding under the bed causing havoc when the lights go out. This review was posted via a well established google account which is about 10 years old and is always signed in, if they had half a clue they'd realise that on platforms such as G+ when it was a thing, very rarely did anyone have an account with their actual name and as such, a nickname was used so that you were easily recognisable in the various communities across that platform. Why should I sign out of that just to post a review to temper your paranoia? This is a genuine review Ayr Lettings whether you like it or not. You're a shambles - and your bluster about "fully trained" staff means nothing to those of us who've actually had to deal with you. You have the cheek to talk about fake reviews - I mean how long have you been going yet you only have 9 google reviews and at least three of them you've written yourself. Is it a coincidence that the positive reviews are written in a way to counter the negative ones? Someone complains about a repair - low and behold a new review claiming repairs were fast and effortless. Yeah, I see you. Attempting to clam that because people haven't used their initial and surname means their review is in some way inaccurate or false - is just more of that front I mentioned three months ago and a pathetic attempt at misdirection and avoidance of criticism. As for claiming that people can contact their office to discuss any issues, well of course you can - and they'll assure you that they'll look into it or are taking care of it or it's something they can look at, blah, blah, blah., instead of saying "listen we just collect the rent and take a percentage and we've no actual interest in resolving the issue..." The reason people are giving them poor reviews is because people have already contacted their office and are unhappy with the outcome after countless discussions. This is not something that's so difficult to comprehend that it's beyond the realms of human understanding. Ayr Lettings and Estate agents are used car salesmen - full of hot air with zero skill-set or ability to carry out the role. And their repairs guy is hopeless too - definitely not a tradesman - but because those who employ him haven't got a clue, then what caliber of tradesman would you expect them to employ? And by their own admission here - they need to run to the actual owners of the property before they can action any repairs - that includes emergency repairs - think about that for a second. But a final note for Ayr lettings and estate agents - Google reviews is not a platform for you to answer customer complaints ok - we've already went through that with you - it's a platform for people to share their experience of you - good or bad and those of us who've had the misfortune of previously addressing your incompetence don't need to provide a birth certificate to validate our experience.

Thedark · 14 April 2020

Again, another fake review. No name and no reference to which property this so-called issue relates to. All repair issues are dealt with promptly within the office by our fully trained staff. Please bear in mind that we cannot authorise repairs without the permission of landlord. Again, like the other fake reviews we are more than happy for our real tenants to contact us via email, phone call or meeting within our office to discuss any issues that they may have. However, like the other fake reviews this offer will not be taken. If this was a genuine review like the 4-star review from our current tenant E Brown then I am sure that you would have no issue in posting your real name. If you had any knowledge of the private rental sector then you would know that all new tenancies are now open ended rather than for a set period of time therefore, there are no 'short-term' or 'long term' lets. Tenants can remain within the property as long as they need to be so long as they adhere to the terms of the lease.

You know fine well who this is....you couldn't run a bath never mind manage a property....does your clients know that your shoddy repairs have now resulted in thousands of pounds of damage to their property because you obviously do not have a clue what you are doing. . Furthermore getting you're Aunty or uncle to fill in a review telling every one how fabulous you are is pathetic..... Either get your house in order of throw in the towel and do everyone a favour

Avoid!

AVOID renting with them. Emailing them will bring you headaches. They don`t seem to understand emails as always the responses I got were never on the subject. Don`t even bother telling them what problems the house has, they won`t do anything about it, it will just be emails back and forth. When we had boiler problems, we were told to look on Youtube on how to refill the boiler and if we keep insisting, we will be the ones to pay for someone to come look at it, and this was not the only problem. At the end of your tenancy call the council to let them know, insist even if they say that the agency has to call, they won`t call and when you email them about it they will say that you are blaming them (not asking for help) and that `you are ridiculous`.

Absolutely a 5 star rating!! I couldn't be happier with the service from Ayr Estate & Letting Agents. The staff are courteous and professional yet very friendly and so helpful. I have been kept fully informed about each step throughout the whole process and I am confident that if I ever have a problem in the future it will be sorted out quickly and accurately without any fuss. I would, without a doubt, recommend the staff in this office and the service they provide.

We emailed you on the same day at 11.52am advising that your deposit had been refunded.

The team at Ayr Estate & Lettings are professional, friendly & have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. They have literally taken all the stress out of the rental process in finding tenants, resolving any problems & were able to assist me in recently selling the property. They will hold your deposit for long time. Avoid

Asad · 28 March 2024

Agent replied · 24 August 2024

Asad, like many other who are leaving negative reviews you are more than likely to have been an applicant for a rental property that the landlord rejected. You would have paid your deposit when applying and this would have been refunded back to you in full within 24 hours of receiving your bank details after being notified that your application had been unsuccessful. Common trend appearing on these reviews of applicants who are unsuccessul spitting the dummy and leaving negative reviews as they didn't get their way. Please be advised as a letting agent we DO NOT make the decision on whether or not a tenants application is accepted, it is the landlord. Once the landlord has made a decision we then inform the tenant and refund the deposit if required.
